Hi Charlie :)

Egg collection wasn't too bad, I was sedated although a lot of women on here have general so dont feel a thing.

I think it depends what clinic you go too.

It was a little uncomfortable but nothing too bad put it this way i would do it again and lets face it if we are successful we will have to go through worse!!!

Your ovarys feel sore for a few days although mine have started to calm down now and you feel very bloated which i still feel at the moment i look about 4 months gone!

This is due to me having mind OHSS which is ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome it is something you may get if you have a large nunber of follicles after EC.

Just remember to drink plenty of water after Ec and Et and this will help ease the discomfort.

I have booked off 2 weeks from EC so have 1 more week off didn't know how i'd feel glad i did as hopefully bloating will have gone down by the time i return to work on the 30th.

no we havent done it yet as i sometimes dont finish work until 9pm so we do it at 930 but will try to do it quick tonight as you said.

It is the same at my hospital its like you cant talk or dare to giggle in front of anyone, you have to look :(

its not to bad if we go straight in.

nurses are really nice though, although they did forget to tell us we needed to keep the stim drugs in the fridge so now we have to pay nearlly 600 for replacements, but i quess it will be worth it.

Hi Jo
As like yourself im going to be sedated so i hope it wont be too bad.
did you book your time off in advance or took it as it came? and was your work ok with it, oh and will they pay you as my company wont as they said it is my choice to have the time off.
well it is not my choice, if it was my choice i would conceive normaly.

good luck with this week and put your feet up and relax.

hi charlie, oh bad news for me today. they did my scan. it wasn't painfull at all. dont worry about that its nothing. I went in to get scaned to check if i would be ok to start my second set of injections.

well! the nurse told me she thinks i might have a syst on my overy. so i couldn't start my next injections. they have told me not to worry and to carry on with burserlin and come back friday for another scan. she said it could be a blood clot not a syst and it could dissapear. I hope so. so dissapointed. how have you been today. how did you get on last night?

:( So sorry to hear that Hayley, but hopefully you can start stims on friday the same day as me, if i come on tue as i am meant to that is, although i have had alot of period pains today so it may be thu if i come on today or tomorrow.

Have you told many people that you are having treatment now, as we havent as i thought it might be harder to keep telling different people that it hadnt worked if it doesnt.
The injection was alot less painful last night thanks for the tip, as we did it very quickly with no waiting and getting my self ready for it.
Does your dh do it or do you?

Hi Charlie

My work knew a long time in advance that i was going to have IVF so 2 weeks in Jan were penciled in and the clinic will nearer the time say when EC and ET will be.

So if all goes to plan you can book your time off to make sure these days are covered.

I was lucky as i had both procedures on the exact days they estimated.

I did not even ask if i could take time off sick i automatically booked off as holiday,my holiday runs from end of March so this is last years quota it was hard only having minimal holiday last year but at least i have a full quota if needed this year for other attempts.

I think alot of companies would not class IVF treatment as sick hence the use of holidays.

The good thing is that minimum days are spent for check ups and so on and my company did pay for hospital appointments.

Hope this helps

:) Thanks Jo
As you said companies dont normaly pay when having treatment, and my company is no different, but unfortunatly i have used nearly all my holiday as we did not know when we would be having treatment because on the nhs funding they let you just a month or two in advance, so i have to take it unpayed, but it is only two weeks and it will hopefully be worth it.
Where abouts are you having treatment, and are they supportive and helpful?

Hi Charlie

Wouldn't really know what the symptoms are still get discomfort and stomach ache due to ovaries at mo. :)

I try not to analyse every twinch as you would drive yourself mad. :x

I don't believe for a minute i am pregnant as yet because i have had many years of disapointment trying naturally.

I know everyone says PMA but i think it's better not to expect too much then you are not too disapointed if it does not happen straight away i have no doubts that it will happen just think it may take a while.Trying to keep my mind on other things at mo.

Thats not to say it wont happen too you lots of ladies on here have got pregnant 1st attempt.

I will post and let you all know on my test day.

Hello,
This is my third IVF (and we just found out that I am pregnant with twins!) Yippee! As for the injections, I'm getting quite used to them. 34 more days to go and counting. :) I always ice the injection site for about 15 minutes prior to the shots. I typically hardly feel them, although there are the occasional "ouch" shots for whatever reason. I find that the times I haven't been able to ice have been much more unpleasant. I also put a heat pack (not electric) on afterwards for about 15 minutes or so (or until I fall asleep.) Good luck with everything!!!!

 Hi all, having a bad day today, in need of pma, my best friend is 20 weeks pregnant (as are most of my friends) she already has a 5 year old daughter and today she had a scan to find out the sex, it is another girl,
i know i should be really happy for her but i cant, she got pregnant the first month of trying and it makes me feel so angry at my self for feeling this way about it but i cant help it, i try to avoid seeing her becuase every time i see her all she talks about is the baby and shows me all the new babie cloths, i cant stand it, she knows what i am going through but she still carries on, i cant get upset in front of her and when ever i try and talk to her about the treatment all she says is you will be pregnant soon and then carries on talking about her wonderful family.
im sorry for going on but i needed to get this off my chest.
thanks for support
good luck to all xx

Hiya Charlie,

My friend already has two wee children and is now trying for a third. I will bet anything she will get pregnant like a shot. Anytime I try to talk about the IVF she becomes so distracted with other things and I get "what did you say again". Clearly not listening. I am a very attentive person and especially if someone needs to talk, I always pay attention, it would be cruel not to.

I have another close friend that got pregnant on her first month of trying and is now 5 months pregnant. I always feel like a failure.

Last Year I became pregnant off my first attempt at IVF and I lost it at 8 weeks. My best friend at work was pregnant exactly the same time. Luckily for her she was ok and went on to give birth to a beautiful daughter. Again I was the failure.

I keep managing to get pregnant but never keep it which is so frustrating.
I'm starting ICSI again later this week and I am doing acupuncture aswell to help me along with it. The acupuncturist has an excellent success record with IVF patients.

I really wish you girls the best of luck. We all need the support at these difficult times.

Hi Lisa, its great to know that we are not alone and that im not going mad or turning into a really mean and sour woman.
I know how you feel not being able to have children natualy, but it will happen to us all, we deserve it and it seems all the gals on here are strong and persistant women and will not stop until they get the family they want.
Good luck in your new cycle
