I'm on day 1 today but the clinic wanted me to go for a blood test and scan so they could send it off to the lab (as it's Friday). They've just called to say my FSH level is 17.5 and that we can't go ahead this month. I've never had a reading higher then about 8 before. I'm so disappointed, the nearer I get to 41 the more crucial each month is.

I've been taking chinese tea and pills, do you think it could be that? It would seem logical as they are surely trying to stimulate my ovaries etc but have overstimmed for IVF. It's difficult to get a specific answer from the chinese Dr, as her English isn't brilliant and I'm not sure if they have FSH in chinese medicine.

This is such poo. Nicola.

HI Nicola, I don't have any answers to your question, sorry. Just thought I'd send a note as haven't been onto the site for ages myself and when I've just looked I noticed you're having treatment again. I've started testing for my surge today and hopefully will be able to have transfer next week.
Not feeling too positive though

Thyanks for your replies chaps. Not feeling so fed up today.

July Ann, I did tell my clinic before and they didn't express an opinion one way or the other, just that it had not been proven but I mentioned it yesterday and the Dr who 'phoned me is Greek and he just said 'How would I know?' when I mentioned that he was the Dr and that maybe he had had someone else who had been taking chinese meds and then had a similar problem (sounds sarcastic now but it wasn't meant to be), he just said they won't tell us what's in it, so how would we know? He is always a bit abrupt (Greek to English I think) and typical medic never offers any more info then is absolutely nec. He just said, you've never had a high one before, we'll see you next month. They (He) don't seem to understand the huge emotional torment each step of this is. Sorry, bit of a rant. Thanks for listening. Did your clinic give any reasons? I spoke to friend yesterday who has a close friend who is a pathologist and she says when she disects people who have had CM they often have high levels of toxicity in their liver. This was always a concern, as the Marylyn Grenville (?) book always talks about detoxing yourself etc.

Kate, nice to hear from you, I was just wondering how you were getting on the other day. Why are you not too hopeful this time?

Spk soon, Nicola.

yeh pretty negative this time. I think even if survived thawing and managed transfer and even got pregnant, I dont' think I'd be able to relax until I was around 16-20 weeks pregnant after the last time. I know I need to think more positive.
Trying to think of law of averages, last frostie didnt' survive thawing so maybe this one will, last pregnancy ended in miscarriage, maybe this one won't, etc etc.

Kate, please be positive. I'm sure it will happen for you this time. I know it's so difficult to continue to hope when your hopes are dashed yet again but it DOES happen. I know what you mean about the 16-18 weeks pg, I look at Olivia practically every night and think what a miracle she is.

Take care, be positive. Why don't you have a look at the 'after IVF' bit for the baby posts, they always cheer me up. Look after yourself. Nicola.

A Theory on FSH!!

Last year before IVF I had an FSh of 6,4 and 10 now after 2 x icsi 's I have an FSH of 12 and 16 , because we are born with our eggs and when we stimulate the ovaries with High FSH ( That is what is in the stims) surley it can alter the state of the ovary ? I now have to go fo Donor as My FSH is too high to warrent it.
Trace x
