Kat,
Hope you weren't thinking of Grumpy and Dopey. We'd really prefer any of the other 5 dwarves but will be happy with them regardless. :D
Jules,
So glad to hear from you. Best of luck on your scan tomorrow. Can't wait to read all about it. They should be able to tell the sex now no? Are you going to find out? Sickness should subside now in a week or 2.
Randa,
Is there such a thing as "follicle dust"? If so i'm sending it. Remember though, Quality, NOT quantity. I've always made alot of eggs but had a quality issue.
It's strange to me to read about all of you going to different countries for your treatments. Then I remember that geographically it's no different than me going to a different state. Vegas is actually a 5.5 hour flight in a 757. I've traveled extensively in this country and been to Mexico and Canada (which really don't count because they're attached to us) but aside from the Bahama and Jamaican Islands i've never really been out of the country. I dream of visiting Europe someday but if having a baby means it'll never happen, that's just fine with me!
I have noticed some differences in the protocols from here to there. Almost all of our clinics only transfer day 5 or 6 blasts now. There is a great web site where you can ask IVF questions and get rapid responses from a world renowned RE. The site is www.theafa.org (The American Fertility Association). Just go to the message boards under IVF outcomes and ask your questions of the doc.
More later,
Lisa

How about Happy and Sleepy? Of course they would both share 50/50 of their personality traits - being twins!

Hi
Lisa - you're right - it takes less than 2 hours to fly to Barcelona, much closer than you going to Vegas. When we go for the biopsy we are only going for the day, it's so quick. Hope Happy & Sleepy are doing OK :D

Anna - going to Singapore with one sister to stay with my other sister who lives there, should be a laugh, it's not often we're all together. My parents are over there at the moment for a couple of weeks and we go when they get back. Will be nice to be warm. Can't wait....and I get to play with my nieces too - age nearly 6 & 4 and SO cute...

Jane - hope Spain went well

Hi to everyone else - v tired as have been on the road half the day

Jules hope the scan went well, watching for your news!

Jane, hope you trip to Spain was successful

We had an appt today and it went OK. The dr said that she didn't know what to do with me! She laughed (we didn't!) When I tried to start a short protocol a couple of weeks ago my bloods weren't right as I had two cysts.
However my FSH was 4! Which is good news. So the cysts were a nuisance giving an E2 reading of 800! The dr said that this level was due to the cysts. I got back from my appt quite relieved but have scared myself by reading Zita, who says that a high E2 could mean a poor ovarian reserve. I know I am getting on a bit. (i'm 42) The dr didn't mention this today. Any views? The bloods were done on day 3 of my cycle.
Anyway we are waiting for AF to try and start a short protocol cycle. Prob beginning of Feb.

Kat, can't believe you are going to Singapore, you lucky thing. I went there a few years ago and had a ball. You must do the touristy things like Sentosa Island and have a Gin sling in Raffles! (I still have my Raffles mug, I use it for my toothbrush!) Hope you enjoy being with family. My family sound similar . I have 2 sisters and it is rare that we are all in the same room at the same time! Enjoy :)

Off on a conference now until Fri eve, will catch up with the news then, bye for now, PMA to all

Anna,
I've had problems with cysts at intervals as well which caused very high E2's. My ovarian response was not affected. Hope all goes well in your upcoming cycle.

Hi! I am back

Post by jojopaisley »

Hi,
I posted in the introductions a week or so ago.
I just turned 40 in December. So, I will be hanging out here with you guys.

We tried IVF for the 2nd time(this time with donor eggs) in December which resulted in a BFP (my first ever!) But I miscarried after 6 weeks. I was very distraught. I am sure you all can imagine. But I am back on board
We plan to try IVF one more time. The doctor is providing her services for free I just have to pay for the donor, the meds and the facility fee. Which will probably total almost $7000 for everything.
Here is my question that I seek advice on. There are 2 donors, A (proven-2 donations, one live birth and the other 4 mths along with twins) and B.
We originally were going to use A for the last IVF but, at the last minute decide with B because she had my features and was an artist like me.

Well, now I think enough with the similarities, I want a baby, so I am leaning toward using Donor A for the next IVF because she is proven.

What do you guys think?

We are hoping to either do the IVF in the Feb/Mar cycle or Mar/Apr cycle.
Not sure which one yet. I don't have a lot of time to decide.

Hi Jojo,

Nice to have you with us. Only you and DH can decide which donor to opt for this time. However, I would say that I come from a large family, 7 siblings, and we are ALL very different from each other. OK, you may be able to see the odd family likeness, but there are some very extreme differences in all of us. My eldest sister is my half-sister as my mother was married before she met my father. However, my eldest sister is the only one in the family who has my "father's nose". Odd that, as she is the only one that doesn't "belong" to Dad.

As for passing on you talent, I do believe that this will be as much a case of "nurture" as it would be biological. I have an uncle who is an artist, no-one else in the family has the talent, neither does any of his children, so it doesn't appear to have been passed on through our family genes!

I personally would choose the proven donor. You don't say whether the proven donor is vastly different to yourself and DH. Providing the skin-tone is similar and the eye colour is similar to one or both of you, I would conclude that the "similarities" are enough. Ever seen a family of 5, all with brown hair, except one that comes out totally bright auburn (or dare I say "ginger"!). Go with what has the greater likelihood of a good outcome.

Wishing you luck and sending you love from the UK
