Anyone pg with donor eggs or FET and hormone support??

Post by taylorjools »

Hi girls

just a roll call as I am pg with donor eggs after premature ovarian failure at 38. I am now 11 weeks and things are going well, but am very nervous about stopping the hormone support protocol at 12 weeks. I think girls with FET have a similar protocol as there was no ovulation thus no corpus Luteum to produce oestrogen and progesterone to fuel the placenta in 1st Trimester.

I am taking:
progesterone injections
progesterone pessaries
Oestrogen gel and progynova tabs

anyone going through this or been through this????

hugs

Hiya bigJ

I had successful FET in sept and felt exactly like you about stopping the drugs. If I remember rightly, my doctor told me to stop them at about 9 - 10 weeks which I thought was really early. I was convinced it would all fall apart once I stopped the support. I spoke to one of the IVF nurses at my hosp and she said that at 9 weeks the body had taken over the job of producing the hormones. I put my faith in them and never looked back. Trust your body!! Its an amazing piece of equipment. Don't worry, its only natural to be nervous. (I'll see if I can find the thread I started when I was feeling like you)

BigJ,
I dont want to worry you more, but I feel you could ask Jodi(sleepyfoy) about her experiences as well, since her bosy didnt take over progesterone production as we normally think and she had to go back to her clinic with questions..
Shes currently 6 months.
These babies are precious and so i just wanted to let you know that maybe you could ask your doc to test your hormone levels before weaning you off the dosage.

As for me, I was on pessaries until 11 weeks approx and then on injections for 4 weeks after and then stopped completely.

Sorry if I added to your worry..
hugs,

Jules

11 weeks is fantastic - almost through the first stage!!!

I started weaning off my progesterone suppositories at 12 weeks - if you are worried I would talk to your consultant and just tell him your concerns - afterall that's what they're there for to support and encourage you through all of this.

Fingers crossed that everything continues smoothly.

Love and hugs

Little P
