Sorry for the delayed update. Today's been such a busy day. Scan went well. As usual, my dr was pretty vague, but indicated I may have about 8-10 follicles, which is good for me. I'm going back on Friday for another scan. EC may be next Tuesday. I am so glad it's not bathing suit season here. I'm just covered in bruises. I'm up to three shots a day now, two in the morning, one in the evening. Ugh. Do all of your hubbies go to your scans with you? Mine does, but he spends the whole time reading magazines while I'm biting my nails. It really drives me crazy. Anyone else experience that?
JenC - I loved all the research stuff. I'm such a nerd about reading up on studies. I'm on aspirin, too. My understanding is that it improves blood flow to the uterus (b/c of anticoagulant properties) so not only is the lining better, but there is ample blood supply to the growing fetus. So, I religiously take mine every day JUST IN CASE. On the down side, I think it's contributing to all my bruises. Is tomorrow your big day? If so, GOOD LUCK!!!!!
Sophie - congrats on all those embryos. Not sure about the grading numbers they gave you. Never got to that stage...
Moggy - glad your scan went well. Good luck with the stimming!
Eminde - wow! So many follicles. I hope your dr. gets things in order for you and your cycle doesn't get cancelled. Fingers crossed!
sue e - here's hoping AF shows up soon!!!
Hi to everyone else. Hope you're all doing great.

Kelly- GO TUESDAY!!! YEY!!!

I know what you mean about bruises. I took so many shots in the stomach, I was losing a little bit of feeling. Now the bruises are on my back side. AHEM! LOL

My test is Friday morning. I should find out before they close on Friday for the weekend.

My husband went to all the scans with me when they transferred me downtown. He took off a whole week. Thank God! But the earlier ones, the ones that were at the office close to my house, it wasn't necessary for him to be there. He's a cop so it's not always easy for him to get off.

I'm all about research. Especially since no one told me ANYTHING about the various drugs and what their purpose or side effects were. It was like, "here, take 300 units of Follistim in the morning...." Well, what IS Follistim? What does it do?? No one told me how many follies I had or how big they were until they transferred me downtown. You have to take charge of your own health.

I went to 2 different gynes telling them both that I had endo. My last dr was my mom's gyne. My mom had endo so I recognized the symptoms and researched it. That doctor told me that all of my symptoms were normal and that she didn't think there was anything wrong with me at all. It was my fertility doc who listened to me and diagnosed me with endo. HA HA Dr. M! I told you so!! I can't help thinking that if she had just listened to me, I wouldn't be in this situation. Oh well. What's done is done. I'll stop babbling now...

Kelly,
Hoping your next scan shows that the follies are growing excellently..
Good Luck with EC- hope its 100% fertilisation for you.
Wonder why docs are vague.. is that intentional?
My aunt whos a doc told me, its usually to discourage silly questions and familiarity :?
I've been on baby aspirin since 2 months before treatment and was told to stop it last week only.
I guess every bit has helped..I've been on blood thinning injections(Heparin) as well and have come off them last week too

Eminde,
Hope your docs keep an eye on you for OHSS and everything proceeds smoothly.

Sue,
will jig for AF to appear soon for you..

Take care all..

Thanks Smita!!
Jen - I totally agree with you about taking charge. I teach physiology and the docs still treat me like I'm an idiot! Whenever I get vague news I pull out my pathophysiology or pharmacology book to do research, or I google it! It can be very frustrating. My mom was having sharp pains in her abdomen and went to the doc several times. They kept saying, it's just heartburn. Take some antacids, stop drinking caffeine, etc. Well, I suggested she have her liver, pancreas and gall bladder tested. Sure enough, she had gall bladder disease, and when they removed it they said it looked pretty advanced. Sometimes they just don't listen and trust that we know our own bodies. Good luck Friday. I'll bet you'll get a BFP. :) Is this your first cycle? You must be so excited! Oh, you're up late -- it's late here in Cali, and I think you're two hours ahead!

Thanks kelly and smita for the af jigs!!!! Hopefully she will arrive on time in 2 days, but last month she was a week late, so unlike me.

Kelly - 8 - 10 follies thats good, normally they find even more that they couldnt see on the scan, so great news. Hoping you find out more on fri

Smita - I cannot believe how time flys, not long til you meet your bump, you must be so excited.

JenC - only one more sleep, wishing you a BFP

Heather - good luck with your treatment

Thanks for the information on baby asprin Jen, i think i may start taking it, i have had 2 miscarriages, so far both early one 5weeks and the other 6 weeks. My clinic will look into it if i have another one,.

Hi all

Smita -thanks for the good wishes! All the best for you too for your pg! Docs and vagueness - probably my fault in my case as I always think of the questions to ask aftwards
JenC - keeping everything crossed for you. Bet you are crawling up the walls now!!
Jo - keep positive (easier said that done, I know...). Less than 1 week now!
Kelly - good luck for Friday. Good that your DH will be there. Mine comes in sometimes but most of the time he's happier to wait in the car, and that's fine with me. He gives me so much support in other ways.
Heather - great that you're being positive. Not long now either till you start tmt.
Sue e - still jigging for you!!! Hope AF's not late this time.

And good luck to ALL.

Hi there..... had my first scan yesterday to see how many follies, what for it ......... I produced only 1, they have cancelled this cycle. They said my FSH must of been too high and I was not LH surging. So i am back on the waiting game, might be able to start again when my period arrives in two weeks or it might be the cycle after that. They are going to try a different drug regime, stick with Menopur, and have two injections to do with LH and something else, lost track after being told it was cancelled. I wish all of you ladies the very best of luck, I feel that we can't get over the 2nd hurdle yet but hopefully I will have my follies with the next go, any ideas on what I should concentrate on ? goodluck to all of you, wherever you are in your cycles and 2ww may all of you get a positive result.

Hi all - thought I'd update on the scan I had yesterday. All looks okay and follies are growing nicely - more on one side than the other, but that's quite common I think? Another scan tomorrow and EC may be Mon or Tues! Only problem is that one of my ovaries is really high up and they are thinking that a GA my be better than a local anaesthetic. I'm not sure what to do. On the one hand I don't want too much pain, and it will be easier for them if I'm 'out', but on the other I want to keep an eye on what is going on!

Does anyone else worry about what happens to the eggs and sperm when they are in their care! I'm starting to worry that they will all get mixed up or something, and so I want to stay awake to see what happens for as long as I can!

This is my first time - so calming advice certainly appreciated!

About the asprin - I looked into this before we started, and by reading the literature etc was encouraged to take it, but when I asked the clinic they advised not to. They said that they would tell me if that was needed, so I haven't taken it. It's so hard to know what to do for the best isn't it.

Good luck to everyone - and fingers crossed for Jen C tomorrow too!

Angela

Hi yogibunny - excellent news about your scan! Sorry but can't advise on EC as we've not reached that stage yet. I suppose it's best to do what your clinic/anaesthetist suggest. Good luck!
Sorry Kyla that your cycle was cancelled :( It's so disappointing, isn't it? (I had a cancelled cycle and it's not looking too promising at this stage for this one either). I don't know what to suggest apart from upping the dosage next time. Hope you can start immediately the next cycle - knowing that will help to lift your spirits!!

Kelly- my mom has had endo for YEARS. She went to about 7 different doctors. They all ran tons of tests on her and couldn't find anything. She was in so much pain. On one of her appointments, she was in so much pain in the parking lot that she thought my dad was going to have to carry her in.....her doc said, "Have you thought about seeing a psychartrist?" Suggesting that she was making it up.

So then she was admitted into the hospital and her doc brought in a gyne, the same one I went to. The gyne figured out that my mom had endo and did a lap. While inside she found out that my mom was INFESTED with endo. It was on her bowel, her colin, her intestines were twisted up....the gyne told my mom that in another 2 months, she would have died. She ended up having a complete hysterectomy, part of her colin and intestines removed...she had to have everything redone. Her doc said that there was evidence that she had had endo for years and that it was amazing that she had two kids...

Yogibunny- I had way more follies on the left side. And if you can, I'd BEG them to knock you out! Unless you won't be able to feel anything...but I'm a big baby! Funny you mentioned it, I don't know if you remember that show "Inconceivable" that was on NBC at the beginning of the year for about 3 weeks but it was about a fertility center and the sperm samples got switched. So I WAS worried about that. But everytime we saw the embryologist, she was asking for our ids.

This is my first time with IVF too yogibunny and it's not as bad as I thought it was. It's more of a pain in the boo hoo than anything...you will do great! Don't worry about anything. Just relax and have DH pamper you.

Kyla- I'm really sorry that they cancelled your cycle. Hang in there.

Eminde- I AM not crawling up the walls anymore....I'm on the ceiling and there is no where to go!!! Help! LOL

Good luck everyone!

Hi girls,
There is so much positive energy her. Bril! I'm having a long week. Feel like I need a month off, so quite looking forward to EC just so I can lie in bed.
Jen bundles of good luck for tomorrow. I REALLY hope you get that BFP.

Souris, Sue, Angela, Eminde thanks for asking after me. I'm doing okay. Scan is tomorrow to see how the follies are growing. I'm quite nervous and keep thinking they're going to give me bad news. I'm trying to stay focussed on positive thoughts. But apart from a slightly swollen tummy I'm feeling fine. I'm on such a high dosage of Menopur, I'll be so sad if they say it hasn't worked.
I went out and bought a pair of pensioners trousers last weekend. You know- elasticated waist and no knees. They are doing a splendid job as I don't feel uncomfortable at all. However I keep being drawn to trollies, pac-a-macs and Uncle Joe's mint balls. Very worrying. Image

Kyla, you must be gutted! I really hope you can start again straight away. Have you had this kind of result before? Is it your FSH levels? That's what I'm worrying about. It all seems so hit and miss doesn't it?

I'm really hoping I'll be ready for EC on Monday. I've been invited out Saturday night, but won't gonig I've got to mix all the b****y drugs. For some reason I am only ready to inject myself by about 11pm. I haven't had any bruises though since the very start. But the last 2 days some of the meds has come out with the 2nd needle. I've no idea why that is happening. I have to say there is NO WAY I would let DH near me with a sharp object. Image I think you're all very brave. I think he'd probably end up in hospital himself with a broken nose if there was even a slight twinge. Unfortunately I'm not known for my patience.

Tons and tons of baby dust and good wishes to you all. Image Image Image It is so good having this support network. You're great.

Thanks for all your info about aspirin girls - especially Jen C for all the medical info. Fantastic to hear I'm not the only one taking it. It's alwaya a worry when clinics recommend something - you always wonder whether you are on trial or something.

It was GREAT to hear positive news from Angeleyes. Now all we need is a BFP from Jen. I imagine you are in for a sleepless night Jen!! Good luck!

Hi Souris, glad your mums with you till Et!

On my result day (if I get there) I will probably do my own test in the morning. My clinic only do a urine test and I can't imagine that they are more reliable than the 99.9% tests from the shops. I would rather be in my own home to hear the news. What do you girls think?

BFP, BFP, BFP, BFP Jen!!!!!!
