Hi all,
I'm starting my third attempt at ivf.
I've read about some of you taking asprin! We asked our doctor about it, and she said it's up to me whether I take it or not. She said there's nothing to proove it helps with implantation, but it cant do me any harm if I use it.
So I thought I'd give it a go. But how much do you take and when do you start taking it?
If anyone can help me it would be much appreciated
Thankyou Charlotte
I'm 39 dh 43
Had numerous iui attempts, 3 ivf & 1 fet attempts. Fell pregnant on last ivf Aug 2003.
But scan at 7 weeks showed embrio had stopped growing at 5 weeks, naturally miscarried a week later. Ivf starts inFeb
Starting treatment again in Feb.
Morning Charlotte!

Third time lucky and all that! it's fun this IVF stuff isn't it?! (NOT!).

I have been taking Aspirin on my last 3 goes, as it is supposed to help thin the blood an assist the embryos to embed. My previous hospital suggested taking it, but the Lister neither suggest not deter, so if it doesn't do any harm why not?!

If you take baby aspirin in a little bit of water on a daily basis throughout treatment and beyond, I think I will take it up to the 12 weeks (to prevent miscarriage), or until otherwise told not to by doc.

All the very best with this cycle, when do you start and where are you being treated?

Fingers and toes crossed for you!

D x
Me 34, DH, 37. Married for 11 years, ttc for 6+, failed 4 x fresh IVF tmts. 5th attempt at Lister Hospital gave us Megan on 5 April 2004 with a very straightforward pregnancy and labour. Attempt number 6 to start hopefully September 2007!
Dear Charlotte,

I took it in my last 3 cycles - not sure if it helped or not. It is recommended that you take 75mg a day. I found some enteric coated tablets in Boots (£1.50 for 28 tablets) or there's the soluble ones (£1.00 for 100 - not much competition there on price!).

If you get pregnant then they suggest that you carry on taking them up to around 32 weeks - not sure why so long.

Best of luck with this cycle,

Alison
Yeah I too took baby aspiring 75mg disolved in water every day, clinic said helps thin blood, and prevents blood clots and helps against miscarriage. I had my 1st attempt at ICSI and it worked for me so I guess I am so lucky. I didn't have to keep taking it when I found out I was pregnant but thats probably something to do with I have had bleeding on and off all the way through.
Good Luck.
Love
Shell
12wks 1d pg.
xx
Thanks Dawn, Alison and Shell,
I'll start taking it today, I might as well.
I started on Buserelin injections last thursday, I'm feeling really tired dont know whether its the buserelin or the weather.
And I'm at St Marys Mancheser.
Well done Shell, hoping some of your luck will rub off on me
Off to the grindstone
Thanks again
Charlotte x
