Hi Cath30 and welcome

All ultrasound machince are definatly not born equal so some are clearer then others. At my 6 week scan my fertility doctor thought one of my twins was a blighted ovem, because he couldnt see the heart beat, but finally he found bubs hiding right down in the bottom on its sac. Now both my twins are almost identical in size.

Many doctors have told me ultrasounds dont do any harm, i have had 6? or around there and I dont worry about it, i beleive my mind being at ease is better for the baibes then being worried.

The worry never stops, although you promise yourself you will stop worrying when you hit 14 weeks and theres hardly any chance of miscarriage, but then you worry about preterm labour and then you worry about cord accidents. But whenever i go to the midwife and say i feel nerotic they always say every woman worries its only the very rare exception that dont.

Hi everyone.

Just wanted to say hello and happy new year to all :D

I am 17 weeks now, and I think that my twins are going through rapid-growth phase, as the last week or so I have just been aching!!!

I have about 3wks or so until my next scan and im missing the sight of my babies!! They will have grown so much over two months, so our next scan will be quite strange!

We don't know what they are yet, but hopefully they will be able to tell us at the scan... We've been trying to come up with names, but that has stalled at present! my memory is like a sieve and I cant think straight for more than a few minutes at a time now!!!

Hope you are all doing well... we must be nearing the arrival of a few of our twins by now hey?

Anybody dealing with the frustrated DH and kicking?

I swear that he has only felt kicks a couple of times!! Why? Well, he's impatient, but mostly because when I call him to come and feel my belly, the twins go quiet! Every time! Then he says I'm not really feeling anything and that he's not falling for my antics. Like I'd fib and make him run up and down the stairs for nothing :) Well, if he deserves a little exercise, maybe.

They are moving around, but I can't tell who is who. There's enough movement that it must be two of them, so that is reassuring.

I felt really good all week. The pelvic pain has decreased and I feel more comfortable walking. I went to a function last night and people touched my belly ALL night long. I have a need for personal space, so this belly rubbing thing is tough to take. I have to take deep breaths and pretend that I'm not offended. I'd feel worse telling people that I don't like being touched, so I won't be coming up with a phrase to tell people HANDS OFF!

Doctor's appointment on Feb 10 with another ultrasound!!! A new peek at the kids and I'm sure they are bigger and more beautiful than the last time :)

Have a good week!

  - I love the image of DH running up and down stairs, at least he's getting fit and used to idea!!!

I'm so pleased that things are going well and that the pain has eased.

Good luck with the scan, I'm sure they will look amazing

Hello,

My name is Joannie (yes, I know my user name says roxie but I can't seem to change it.) I am 8 weeks and 3 days pregnant with twins today. This is our third IVF attempt. The first was in November 05. I became pregnant the first time (with one baby) and miscarried at 9.5 weeks. Our second try was last August and the attempt failed. I was SO devastated because since it had worked the first time I was sure it would work the next. I was ready to give up on IVF and work on adopting, but we decided to give things one more try...and here we are pregnant with twins!!!! My husband's response? "Oh my!" about three times in the doctor's office. :) We are both very happy, but I, like many others on this website, am trying so hard not to worry about everything!!!!!

I had been feeling really confident and good (well, if you can count CONSTANT morning sickness as good...Will it EVER end?) :) , and then I had some slight spotting the day before I was 8 weeks. Fortunately I had my first OB appt. scheduled for the next day. The ultrasound showed everything was fine and the two little heartbeats were beating strongly. Yippee! The spotting was very slight and brownish colored (not anything like when I miscarried) but still it brought my anxiety level up. Has anyone else experienced spotting?

We haven't told anyone about our pregnancy this time (other than one of my best friends and our medical professionals of course) because I just can't bear the thought of talking about it all of the time and having to tell people if something goes wrong. Even our parents don't know. I'm soooooooooo excited, so it's very hard not to talk about it, but I guess it's just a self protection mechanism and once we hit the twelve week mark with strong heartbeats we'll share our wonderful news with our friends and family.

Anyway, thanks for listening and I am really happy to have found this website. It seems that IVF and infertility puts us all into the same space of spending ungodly amounts of money on trying to conceive, which in turn raises the anxiety level that much more because it just HAS to work!

I'm so happy to read that so many of you are well into your pregnancies and in the "safe zone". Good luck to all!!!

Joannie

P.S. Cathy, it looks like our due dates are right around the same time!

Welcome DeniseM and Roxie

I am sure you will find lots of support and help on these boards, please feel free to ask anything and someone will proberly have experanced the same thing.

KC_TTC: I find the best position to get DH or DD (as well in my case) to feel the babies moving is to sit in an armchair ( not lying down) and then place your hand on the top of your tummy (just under your breast) and then move hubbys hand there. I get my best kicks like that, i think cuz i am squashing them (bad mummy). Good luck with your next Ultrasound

I have my 28 week ultrasound on Friday, i keep having irrational fears that they wont have grown properly or something.

Take care and all the best

Hello

It all seems to be going well at the moment – I feel ok, my twins seem to be doing fine. Everyone seems to think that I have suddenly got bigger. DH has been away ski-ing for a week and his first words to me when he got back were My god you have grown!! I have a consultants appt this week and a scan in 2 weeks. I usually get to see the little ones when I go to the hospital as they do a very a quick u/s to check the heartbeat.

They are very active a lot of the time. At first DH was not patient enough to feel them kicking, but we have found that first thing in the morning and last thing at night laying in bed is a good time for him to feel them kicking and moving.

Jaymee: you are not alone with your worries – I usually have a sleepless night before an u/s, worrying what they will or wont find. Good luck with the scan on Friday.

Joannie: My DH and I were quite shocked when we got the news it was twins at the 8 week scan. I think it took a couple of weeks for it to sink in! I can’t offer any help with the morning sickness – I was lucky enough not to get any at all! We didn’t tell any of the family about treatment until we had to - 10/11 weeks I think as by then it was getting hard to hide.

Best wishes to everyone
Take care
Ange

Hi Ange and Jaymee,

Thanks for the replies!

I am almost 12 weeks (three days away) and things are going well with both babies. Yippee!! We just told our families and friends the exciting news, so that's been fun. :)

My nausea has subsided for the most part (at least the all day every day nausea) so that's been a relief.

I hope all is well with everyone!

We're officially 26 weeks today - and I'm feeling more positive as each week passes.

Last scan (25 weeks) showed that both babies are 1 lb and 10 oz. Based on charts I've seen, they are right in the "middle", so that's good. Seems that they are growing like they should be.

I'm in the most awful clothing these days. Why do maternity tops have to have ribbons and bows? I'm not that kind of girl. NOT to mention that if one more person AT WORK refers to me as "precious", I may start crying.

Have a good week gestating your twins! :)

Congratulations KC_TTC!

It feels so comforting to be getting up into the viable stage. I have out grown all my favorite maturnity tops, I have to get the time to go shopping for some larger ones, if they exist anywhere. I feel embaressed when the bottom of my belly sticks out :).

I have another scan on the friday when i am 31 weeks to keep tracking my babies growth. So starting to get more regular checkups which is reasuring.

I just traded in my coupe for a family car yesturday so i am happy that we are starting to get some things arranged.

I hope everyone is well and any new twin mums please feel free to join us.

Hi

KC_TTC - I laughed at your comment about ribbons and bows and louder at the one about your work colleagues. It all rang so true with me. There is nothing in the shops under the heading maternity wear that I like and if it comes without the bow it is HIDEOUS! I have found that some people at work treat me as if I am either an imbecile or disabled.

Jaymee - good luck with the scan on Friday

Roxie - glad you are starting to feel better. We found life a lot easier once the families knew what was going on.

I had a growth scan last Wednesday - mine are about 2lb each (just under 1KG) The midwife said they had fat tummys which she said is a good sign as it means they are feeding well.

They are kicking almost on a schedule at the moment and usually at the same time. "leftie" is very active, "rightie" is less active but kicks a lot harder!

The consultant at the hospital told me that she does not let twins go more than 38 weeks and 10 weeks sounds like no time at all!

I have about 5 weeks left before I finish work and maternity leave starts (I am 28 weeks today).

Take care all of you
best wishes
Ange

Hi AngeWG

Congratz on a good scan, it sounds like your little ones are a good size. I am having a planned c-section between 38 and 39 weeks. The same as a singleton. I wish they did it a little earlier, but maybe the babies wont come on anyones time but their own :). Anything after 36 weeks is fine with me.

I hope all the new twins mums are ok, and not suffering too much m/s. Please feel free to post any concerns or anything.

Also i hope all the twin mums already on the thread are doing well and that their babies are growing healthier and stronger everyday.

Jaymee
