My wife and I were wondering at what time is it appropriate to start on the babies bedroom and purchase Cots/Prams/Clothes etc? My wife is expecting twins and she is a tad over 10 weeks at the moment. However what if we leave it too late then all of a sudden we have to go out and buy basically everything in the last trimester which is gonna cost mega bucks in one big hit! when is the 'sensible' time to slowly start buying things?
Would appreciate anyones thoughts and perspective on this
I waited until I had the all clear at the 12 week scan - superstition partly, but also knowing that I was through that major first hurdle.
I didn't go wild just started looking at things and making lists of things that I was going to want - our nursery furniture was the longest thing to get organised (22 weeks) because it was all hand done for us, but I think it is normally about half that time. Buggies don't take that long so try not to panic and really enjoy that shopping!!
I didn't stary buying until after the 12 week scan, I had to buy 1 tiny thing when I found out I was pregnant because I couldn't settle but it was just a babygro but the main things I didn't get till I was over 12 weeks.
Its all exciting.
Sehll.

Hi Phil
I browsed through every baby catalogue going and made lists like little P.
I also read lots of baby magazines and looked for their 'best buy' products. I would say that been organised has certainly helped since we had our baby. You dont want to be dashing round getting everything once they are born. I slowly started stocking up on nappies and essentials early on. You dont want to wait until your wife is too tired to shop and that will be sooner with twins. Internet shopping worked well for me as well!
Happy shopping!

I waited till after 20 week scan because I was a little anxious. I did allow myself a couple of baby grows after nuchal fold scan at 13 weeks but started spending big time after 20 weeks. I had everything by 30 weeks except for a bag of nappies because I'm waiting for pampers to send me a special starter kit voucher! Oh and haven't got car seat yet because I'm waiting for one with isofix base which is coming into mothercare in 2-3 weeks time. Good luck with it all - P.S I agree about not leaving things too late - I couldn't have gone shopping after 24 weeks - everything after that has been internet shopping but thats been great actually.
Happy spending,
Cherylxxx

We are expecting twins too. I search on Google on teh internet the term "PREPARING FOR TWINS" and got some great info off some sites. THey tell you what you REALLY need for twins and what you only need one of. They say (if the twins are the same sex) that you olnly need one and a half times the clothes as for a single preganancy. You really dont need to spend double and have 2 of everything!!

DH and I also waited until we were past the 12 week mark. The only thing we did right away was to choose our nursery colors, paint the room, and get new carpet which we desperately needed. It wasn't long after that we chose our nursery furniture, but only because it takes about 3months to come in from the manufacturer. We did all of this early, because I knew that the bigger I got the harder it would be.
Since then we haven't bought a whole lot, but have done a lot of research and created our registry. A great book with lots of tips on what to buy, whether it be for singles or multiples, is Baby Bargains by Denise and Alan Fields. They also have a website, but it doesn't include all info
www.babybargains.com . We are hoping that our friends and family will help us out with a lot. My shower is sometime in early April, which will give us almost two months to buys everything else we need.
