(i am prepared to take more than one...) can i take it tomorrow? hcg was jan 15, retrieval was jan 17, transfer jan 20. it's not absolutely impossible that a test could work tomorrow, right? thoughts? gabriella

Hi Sue,

Thanks for the reply, I'm 27 tomorrow, 27th Jan. There only putting back 1 egg due to a miscarriage when I was 18, this was a natural pregnancy. I took the pill after that for many years, started ttc about 4 years ago and was refered for ivf in april 04, after a laparoscopy that showed a tube blockage. I think I was lucky to start treatment in Dec 04, as I have heard the normal waiting time is a few years.
I'm going in to have the egg put back tomoroow, i have to ring the unit at 9am tomorrow for an appointment time, is this normal..?? I'm all confused, its very daunting and no amount of reading has prepared me for the real thing.

I havent told any family or friends and havent had anyone to talk to until now. I didnt even realise ivf was such a big thing. I suppose i was a little naive. My dp finds it hard to talk about it. I attended most of the appts on my own and did the injections myself as my dp works long hours. Its very hard for him to take time off work at the moment.
Well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow.

I wish everyone on the Fedruary test thread lots and lots of luck. I am here for you all. I dont know much yet, but I'm a very good listener.

Hi everyone

MaryJ ... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!... hope you have a good one despite all the ivf procedures!
Just to let you know that although I am no expert (only done ivf twice now) I also had to ring the clinic in the morning for an appointment time for the egg replacement - so this is 'normal' as far as I am concerned.
I have also done all injections and appointments on my own as my DH is also very busy at work - he was there for one of my injections but even then he hid behind his newspaper (I could almost hear him wincing!!! ). I was quite happy for him to be out of it some of the time as I didn't want the process to be something that took over our lives to the exclusion of all else ... this was pretty naiive of me as it did that anyway :!:
However, I have told close friends and family as I find it helpful to talk to others sometimes - everyone has to do what they feel most comfortable with - if you don't want to discuss it then maybe that is best for you. These boards are FANTASTIC for support - once you get used to posting there is always someone willing to answer questions and help you if they can. If they can't answer your questions at least you feel that there are people supporting you and rooting for you.
Wishing you a good ER (Egg replacement) and keeping an eye on your progress....

Saraid - HI - welcome to the Feb testers group - I am also at home on my own most of the time (I am working from home at the moment which is great for attending appointments and not having to ask for time off work but not so good when you need some distraction) Anyway - wishing you loads of success for the 8th ....

To everyone else .. hang on in there ... the waiting is driving me mad but it is great to know that there is so much support out there - wishing you all oodles of patience  and BFP's :D :D :D

Hi Everyone,

MAybe baby and Sue, thank you all for all your support in this very trying time. I was a bit premature and rang the unit at 8.40am, but they have asked me to ring back at 9.30am. I'm just getting dressed incase they ask me to come straight down, so I will let you all know my progess and update my actual test date. I hope I'm right in thinking I just copy and paste the list...??

Wishing you all lots of baby dust.

Thanks for the words of encouragement....I woke up yesterday feeling a lot better. I've decided not to take my consultant too seriously especially when its obvious he's guessing!
If there's one thing I've learnt, is that it is unpredictable and there's a lot they dont know.
gabriella - did you do the test eventually? I did mine early and although it was a bad thing to do, and it could have really worked against me, it prepared me for the dissappointment on the official day. I felt devastated when it was negative, but held on to some hope it was wrong.....but it definately softened the blow. I wouldnt do it again though!

Good luck tomorrow Gabriella and Joanna!! will be holding thumbs!!!May this be the one for both of you

sorry 2 hear your news Eminde - stay positive and remember the time will go quickly until your FET.

With regards to talking to people and my DH, I find it best to get him as involved as possible. I think men can feel quite disconnected from it all and when its a BFN, I think some subconscious anger can come up for them - which you may pick up on.
If they feel the problem is shared though, I think it can be easier on both of you. But of course its different for every couple, and as long as you're comfy in your groove then all is good.

Evening guys,

I hope it all went well today Maryj. It is always difficult at these appointments as it is the great unknown!

I have just spent hte entire day watching series one of Buffy! Definately better than daytime tv and my neighbour took the very bored dog for a walk so no more whimpering.

DH finally home from work so now running around tugging his forelock and answering to Jeeves. Long may the bedrest continue! This really seems to be the hardest part as all we can do is chant positive statements and cross your fingers. Does anyone know if AF pains in the morning are normal? Hope so.

i DID take a test this afternoon. the faintest of positives. now of course i have to realize this means nothing so i shouldn't have done it. yes, it could be a postive pregnancy, or it could be the remains of hcg injection. i'll use it as a control (she tells herself), so when i test again on Sunday we'll see if the line is darker. why couldn't i have the remotest self control and just wait until feb. 1?

got the letter in the mail today saying there were no embryos to freeze. so THIS IS IT.

yes, (responding to saraid) af pains are normal. likely you are on progesterone supplements. the "after" drugs make it impossible to really tell if what's going on in your body, imho.

Good morning everyone.
I'm feeling quite positive this morning. I had 1 embryo put back yesterday and 13 were frozen. So thats just to recap... 22 eggs, 16 fertilised and 13 suitable... 1 to use and 12 to freeze. The embryologist went through the list and they need to be between 6 and 8 cell apparently??? I had 13 over 6 and 3 at 5. They decided not to use the 3 as they werent dividing as fast of the others. Aparently I'm above average?? Sorry for all the question marks, its my 1st time.
Anyway, the nurses all made me feel really positive, I was a bit sceptical though as I though they may give out false hopes????
I've been given pessaries to take until my test date which is now officially 13th FEb. However, the testing process has changed, you dont attend for a bloodtest on this day, you do a HPT and then ring the unit with the results... what happens after that is a mystery to me as they said we will tell you when you ring!!
Well I'm hopeful, I've got a confession to make aswell, I didnt come straight home from the hospital yeserday, I went for lunch with friends. The nurses say the bedrest thing is all a myth... now I am confused! Although I have booked a week off work, and I wont be doing anything strenuous.

Joanna - Feb 1st
Gabriellea - 1st Feb
Cla - Feb 3rd
Carly - Feb 3rd
Maybebaby - Feb 3rd
Saraid - Feb 8th
Chellejaya - Feb 9th
Paula - Feb 11th
Maryjane - 13th Feb
Kate - Feb 14th
Randa - Feb 16th
Kelly - mid-Feb
Sophie - Feb 22nd
Tracii - Feb 26th
Charlie - feb 26th
Ramona - Feb 29th

I've updated the list (now I know how!)

P.s. WHat does AF pain mean...??

And is it normal to have sore breasts..?? I've been like this since the day after EC.
