Hi everyone, haven't been on the site for ages now. Had IVF(second time round) back in Feb/March which worked but then had a miscarriage.
I've only got one little frostie from that cycle. I've started testing for my surge today so hopefully I should be having transfer next week.

We did have one frostie from our first frostie which we had hoped to use this time last year, however it didn't survive the thawing process. It hadn't even occurred to me that it may not survive the thawing process, so it was a big shock (that must sound really stupid I know but its true)

So I'm really anxious this time about whether or not its even going to survive the thawing process.

Anyone else going to be having this or test dates around same time as me.
Hi Kate, welcome back - and so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Have you had the surge and do you know when your e/t will be?

I too am hoping to have FET this month - go in for my day 10 scan on Thursday, so I guess will be some time behind you. Its our first FET and it feels wierd to be a novice at something as we've had four (unsuccessful) IVF cycles.

Do let us know how you're getting along, lots of luck

Alison x
HI Alison - I've had my surge and will hopefully (everything crossed) be having transfer on Wednesday.

Why do you have a scan? is it because your cycle is stimulated?
Mine is on a natural cycle, but I did think that I would still use the pessaries but the hospital has told me I dont' need to. Wish I could use them really so I could feel as though I was doing something.
Hi there,

I'm an old timer, 1 IVF (abandoned cycle), 2 ICSIs and about to hopefully have FET. Have had a 9 month break from it all and it's been great. However, back on the rollercoaster and it's my first FET.

I've been put on HRT since day 2 (1 a day, then 2, then 3 a day). Is anyone else on this? Which will then be followed by cyclogest pessaries, not sure when though. Going for my day 10 scan tomorrow.

We have 5 frozen embies and like you Kate, I'm absolutely fraught with worry about whether they'll thaw OK. It's just one hurdle after another isn't it?

My DH's sperm don't seem to be able to penetrate the egg's shell, so we were waiting for one more test before trying FET. (The test results were normal, so it's just a mystery. I've mild PCO, and now that I've just turned 35, I keep thinking I'm going to have an early menopause what with all the IVF procedures/drugs...!)

Oh well, I think this will be our last go as I can't stand all the dashed hopes any more. (Sorry to sound so defeated, just too scared to get over-excited again).

Good luck to us all!

Nicola x
TTC 8 yrs. Me 35, DH 52. 1st IVF eggs didn't fertilise, sperm couldn't get through shell. 2nd & 3rd ICSI got embryos but -ve. 1st FET +ve with twins, '1 disappeared' at 9 wks. One baby due 9th April.
Hi Kate and Nicola - I may have got it wrong about the scan. I just assumed they'd do a scan to check roughly where I was with my cycle? Do they do blood tests instead? Or do they just send you away to "wait for the surge"?! I'm really not sure what to expect and when I phoned the clinic last week to say that AF had arrive and check they wanted me in on day 10 I got the unhelpful one so didn't pursue all my questions! I think though they said it would be natural cycle but that I would be given drugs to thicken the womb lining? Really don't know, but no doubt all will be revealed!

Alison
Hi Alison and Nicola

After reading some info, I think even on a natural cycle most clinics give scan, pessaries, etc. Mine do not! I've rung and asked them could I have the pessaries anyway as I would feel like I was doing something then and as it won't do any harm I don't see why not. THe nurse told me I would have to see the Doctor on day of transfer, although she couldn't really see it being a problem.
Wish I would have had scans etc.

AND to you NICOLA - STAY POSITIVE!!!!! You can do it.
Just to let you all know, my embie has thawed safely (huge sigh of relief) and I'll be having transfer this afternoon at 3.30pm. Please keep everything crossed for me. THanks
That's fantastic news Kate! I'm so happy your embie was fine.

As I've an irregular cycle, I'm on HRT which stops the egg release & I think helps the lining. The scans are to check the thickness of the lining so they can judge the optimum time to put the embies in. My lining was 7mm which is good, so they reckon after one more scan Monday, I should have transfer on Wednesday or Thursday next week - subject to embies being ok of course! That's when the cyclogest pessaries start I think.

The consultant seemed quite positive that we'd get at least two embies as they only save ones that are good quality anyway. Said they might try blastocyte transfer, which we've not done before.

Fingers crossed for you Kate, and Alison, it sounds as if you're on a natural cycle, so they'll just want to check the lining thickness, then maybe put you on pessaries once the embies are in, just like in normal IVF.

Nicola x

Thanks for the advice. Kate I was so pleased that you're embie had thawed OK - hope its snuggling down nicely inside you! Can I just ask you, how long was it between your surge and having e/t? And what stage was your embie put back?

Nicola, glad its going well for you. I'm still a bit confused about timescales for me but reckon you'll be a week or so ahead of me on the 2ww.

Alison x
hi everyone - had transfer yesterday!!! yippee!!
it was three days after my surge and it was a four cell. Told my hubby that it looked a girl!
so now I'm on the dreaded 2ww. but a least I'm a day down already. I so hope it works.
Well done Kate. I went to the clinic today, things seemed fine - had a scan and a blood test. I've got to start taking heparin and another drug to help the lining, but don't need to go back to the clinic until 2 days after the surge. They'll do another scan then, and then e/t 3 or 4 days after that (as they're blastocysts). So Nicola possibly won't be that many days behind you.

Alison
