Sex after ET?

I was told to not have sex until after the pregnancy test. Has anyone been told this? Does anyone know why this is? Do you really think it would be a big deal to "do it"? My preg test is tomorrow!

Hi Jen. My last clinic didn't tell me not to, but I'm about to start a cycle with a new clinic who said to abstain while taking the FSH. They said the reason is that the drug is stimulating a lot of egg production, and they don't want a 'natural' pregnancy to occur b/c there are so many eggs, so there is a big risk of multiple pregnancy.

to be honest, i don't really feel like it, given how bloated i am!

I haven't been in the mood since October! I was on Lupron Depot for endometriosis then we started this IVF. I was bloated and feeling yucky too. Now I'm feeling great and my hormones are back and I want to "get it on"! LOL

I personally didn't have sex when I was on the 2ww or anything while I was going thru my IVF but then when I found out I was pregnant I bled for 18wks of my pregnancy so it was difficult, I was scared to because i didn't want to risk anything happening.

If you follow Zita West's guidelines, she doesn't recommend it at all during the 2ww and if you get a positive, then not until you are through the first 12 weeks!!

Well, we had IUI, and even for that they say no sex til test date, and each time we got BFN, so I am thinking that doesnt seem right????

Anyway, if you think about natural girls getting preg who often dont know they are preg will have sex.....

I say 'get it on, girl' parhaps just gentle sex though, no hanging from the chanderliers!!!!!

Oh my word - Zita says nothing until after 12 weeks!!!!!
Jen - As we all know we all get different advise!!!!!! I looked at my paperwork - my clinic suggest no sex for 48 hours after collection, but fine after that.

No nooky on the 2ww and then after BFP,none till 12 weeks plus if you have bleeding etc in your first tri or other such probs, its to be avoided all through

as per my clinic!

UGH! I asked today, DH laughed. They said if it's a BFP, no sex until the first ultra sound, which should be in about 2 weeks!! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I think if my husband touched me in that way, I would hit him lol. My body is just not ready for sex. Now I will please him but just not that way lol.

I was told no sex for 2 weeks after EC because you run the risk of infection. I've had so many miscarriages, that I don't plan on having sex until my second trimester the next time I get pregnant. DH will be disappointed, but he's a trooper. Anyway, as other ladies said, there are other 'fun' things you can do without having intercourse!

Oh so it's not the orgasm you can't have, it's the intercourse. Cause we CAN do other things if that's the case.

Its the Orgasm we cant have, cause it leads to contraction of the uterus in case its a powerful one and so..
