Hi

Welcome to all the newbies to the Feb testing thread - great to see so many joining the 'testing team' for Feb .... can't wait to see all those BFPs!!! :)

Just wanted to say thanks Joanna and Paula for the kind responses to my worries - I guess I can't change what I have done and just have to be positive and hope that my embie is typically Dutch and has enjoyed the walks!!

Unfortunately I was pretty ill at the weekend - I ate fish on Saturday night and was up all night vomitting (sorry if tmi!) Then at 5.15am I started bleeding and was convinced that the food poisoning had brought an end to this ivf attempt and this was AF arrived. Was totally depressed and feeling very ill but the bleeding stopped yesterday so I am now wondering whether the bleeding was a good sign .... I remember somebody mentioning somewhere on these boards "implantation bleeding" ... does anyone know anything about this?? If so I would really appreciate some info .... thanks!!

Joanna and Gabriella .... WOW - you must be getting soooo excited by now - I am keeping ALL digits crossed  for you and sending very positive vibes to you both.

Hope everyone else is holding up okay ....

Take care

Hi All,

Maybebaby I'm thinking of you. I too read somewhere on the board about bleeding when the embryo is implanting. I had ET on 27th Jan, when did you have yours? Its only been 3 days and the wait is killing me. I think this has been the longest 3 days in my life. I havent had any bleeding, I'm now wondering if thats a bad sign..??

My breasts are really sore. (Sorry for TMI) I've read somewhere though that this is a side effect of the progesterone. Is anyone else having 2 a day pesseries? They say you get them if you get more than 11 eggs..??

I'm also thinking that maybe I should have gone back to work, the time may have passed quicker, although my mind wouldnt have been on the job. I work in a very pressured environment and dont think I could have done with the stress.

Well, I will speak to you all soon.

Hi Maryjane

Thanks for your thoughts - I had ET on 21st Jan - have been reading around on internet for info on implantation bleeding and it seems that if it happens (and many people don't experience it) it is usually a week or so after implantation and can be anything from a 'spotting' to a light period - So I don't think you should worry at all that you haven't had any bleeding - that is probably a good sign rather than a bad one!

Re the breast soreness - I had this until about 4 days after ET then it all went away but I have read that many women continue to have this for a while.

Re the pessaries (we have nicknamed them the jelly balls  ) I have to use 2 jelly balls three times per day but I only had five eggs retrieved.

Unfortunately I have started bleeding again and it is much heavier than it was on Saturday ... it is seeming more and more likely that it is AF and not implantation bleeding  but I will try and stay positive and hope that it stops again - otherwise I will soon be removing myself from the Feb 3rd test date   Will let you know.

In the meantime - enjoy your time off work as much as you can - especially if you are usually really stressed - make the most of the rest

Tracii - hi ... good luck with the AF - hope she arrives soon!

Take care all ....

Dear MAybebaby,

i will keep my fingers crossed for you that your bleed stops quickly. One of my friends who conceived naturally said she had a period out during her pregnancy but everything kept on going!

I am not having to take pessaries or injections, is this a normal thing after ET? It just seems that nearly all of you are on some sort of hormone during your 2ww.

Anyway i have decided not to worry about every little thing and just watch gruesome reruns of CSI instead - keeps your mind pff your belly :D

Hi all again! I'm on the same schedule as maybebaby almost to the day - my test date is Feb 2nd. And I'm having the same exact issues. My boobs are tender (and large) but I'm also on pessaries - 3 'balls' of prometrium 2 times a day. Yesterday I noticed a teensy tiny bit of spotting - none that I would have even noticed had I not been looking. But this morning there was more. I'm hoping and praying it's implantation!!!!

Does anyone know when AF is expected on a typical IVF cycle? I would guess around the time of the test. I'm basically 11 days after ET. Also, does anyone know if AF is your typical period - or is it a bit different?

Ohhh...as an addition - I agree with the previous post - I also have a friend who had a normal period but her pregnancy continued normally. Also, my clinic has advised me that regardless if AF (or what I think is AF) comes that I am to take the test anyways. So even if there is bleeding - keep trying to think positive!

Hi everyone,
Maybebaby - Hopefully your bleeding is implantation bleeding. It varies from person to person, but most people experience some form of it. My sister thought she had her normal heavy period but then took a PG test the next week and it was positive. With all my pregnancies, I bled for several weeks (spotting, not full flow) and the dr. said that was completely normal, so keep your hopes up. PMA does make a difference!
Tracii - I hope your AF arrives soon. I'm totally regular usually and this cycle before going on stimming meds I was 5 days late! Stress has so much to do with it, and first I was stressing about getting it, then I was stressing about not getting it. Anyway, it will happen!
Good luck to everyone!

Maybebaby, wishing you the best of luck and happiness.

and everyone:

About implantation bleeding and AF:

I had both: With my last (and succesfull) ivf, I had implantation bleeding. it was one week after ET. Mine was a spotting but scary until you realized what it was later on.
and on the day of the test I started to bleed, light bleed, but it was still a positive. I was told to rest and I had a bleed for five months into my pregnancy. Always on the day my AF was due for about 4-5 days, not conforting at all.
With all my failed ivf's , the AF came a little late, my last embryo trasfer I had to wait one week for the AF to come.
There was nothing I did differently from any of the ivf's, maybe I was even more careless with my diet with the last actually, but when the little one holds on, it usually holds on. The odds are on our favour then!
I wish they put on a daily run of 'Desperate Housewives' durig my 2WW.
Wishng you all 'GOOD LUCK' and lots of warm thoughts.
Love
Laura

Thanks for the words everyone - I've been watching the boards like mad today hoping for some reassurance - especially thanks Laura M who has reassured me with words about what a successful IVF may look like!! AF never starts like this for me so yes, I am optimistic it's implantation. I guess we will know in just a few short days!
