Nicki,

Just had a thought, if you do decide to explore IVF, you should qualify for NHS treatment as you are only 30. That should help relieve some of the pressure/stress, as take it from me, trying to way up the possibilities of privately funding your treatment, has a huge influence on things. I've just posted on the over 40's thread a question about Refund schemes they operate in the clinic in Barcelona. Really don't know what to go for in our case. If you do decide to go for IVF, I hope you get the NHS funding you deserve.

Hello donor buddies, anyone else out there? Well, we've taken the plunge and have booked an initial consultation with IM in Barcelona. We've booked our flights and the appt. is on 16th Feb. Excited but nervous too. They offer a refund scheme that you can sign up for, for 3 fresh donor egg cycles for 30,000 euros, if you do not get pg beyond 12 weeks within a 12 month period, you get 75% of your fees back. However, if you are successful on the first cycle, then you don't get any money back. Bit of a gamble, so not sure whether to go for this or just a straightforward cycle at 9,500 euros. Anyone else out there considered this or signed up for this?

Hello everyone.

I am not having donated embryo but just wanted to share some great news with you all....

My close freind is 48 and has been ttc for the last 18 years (YES, 18!). She had many attempts at IVF using donor embryos, one of which sadly resulted in a miscarriage. Then in 2000, she fell pregnant age 42 through donated embryo IVF and now has a beautiful 4 year old daughter. She has since had donated embryo IVF 4 times and this final time was going to be her last attempt. I'm pleased to say she got a BFP yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is (tentatively) over the moon as you can imagine!!

Her and DH have spent many, many hours calling all the IVF centres in the UK on a weekly basis over many years trying to find suitable donors and have had their fair share of stress and doubt. It was definately worth it though and I am so excited for her!!!!!!

Good luck to you all,

Sophie x

Sophie,

Thankyou for sharing your friend's news with us. It definately gives me encouragement to go on. I am off to Spain next Wed (15th) for a consultation for donor eggs, filled with trepidation! Any words of encouragement such as you friend's situation, help tremendously.
