2nd try to IVF

Post by angelbaby »

Hi Everyone- This is my 2nd IVF cycle. The 1st one in Oct-05 had to be stoppped due to overstimulation.
I am on Day 3 of my cycle and start the stimming drugs today (Follistin and Repornex) and will continue Lupron. The doctor is putting me on a lower dosage of the drugs since I overstimulated last time.
One question - after EC or ET when one starts the Progestron, do you also take some inj to reduce the estrogen levels in the blood or one just takes Projestron Inj.

Thanks and good luck to everyone
Me- PCOS
IUI - Aug 03 -ve
1st IVF - Oct 05 / 2ww - Nov 05 - Failed due to OHSS
Final IVF try - Jan/Feb 2006

Hi all,
Just updating you on whats going on - am back to the clinic tomorrow for my FET. As long as the little blighters defrost ok, then its all systems go! Not looking forward to the 2WW, trying to think of things to do that will keep me occupied and not allow me to analyse every twinge and pain!! Any suggestions will be gratefully received :D

Donna99 - how's it going?

 hi girls,

Well i rang the hospital today and they confirmed i can start our next cycle at the end of this month. For once i am looking forward to my AF coming so we can get on with it. Bring it on.

Donna - A good cry sorts everything out. My friends are great too, don't know what we would do without them. I love pineapple so keep me updated about how good it is for the implanting.

Take care

Hi All! I am going through all the latest entries...have been out of it since being on hols. I am now on day 13 of downregging and still no AF in site...she is now 4 days late. I called the clinic yesterday and they said not to worry the Synarela could delay AF....but of course I am worrying because my body is usually like clockwork. I don't even have cramps...I had some slight cramping on Sunday and then after about 2 hours they just completely disappeared....I never thought I would say this but I am really wanting to feel some cramps!

Kate21 - I will be sending positive vibes your way tomorrow! Let us know hos it goes!

Donna99 - I asked my doc about baby aspiring after my first IVF...and he said it definitely wouldn't hurt. I am doing an entire cycle so will start taking the aspirin as soon as I start stimming (the aspirin also helps egg quality due to the blood flow).

Angelbaby - I take progesterone suppositories - 2 3x per day...they are pretty messy.

Bec - Yes the hormones can screw you up for a little bit...but don't worry your body is amazing and will recover..it just takes time. Acupuncture can also help your body get back (this does take time as well), also detox diets does wonders for the body and harmonzing your hormones. I have done about 3 in the past months and they are great...they don't last long but you do have to have amazing willpower...otherwise it won't work. Just relax...you will start ovulating :D

Hi to everyone!! And please do some more jigs for me and hope AF arrives!

Kate, really hope all is going ok today and that the frosties have come out of the thaw all perky and raring to go.

Sand, lovely to "see" you again - if your test date is 15th, does that mean you had ET yesterday? If so, go and get your feet up! Hope all is going well and that the 2ww isn't too unbearable.

Meant to reply to Bec earlier but real life has got in the way. Sorry to hear that you're so down. It is normal after a BFN and as the hormones work their way out of your system, so be kind to yourself. Also your chances of something happening naturally may have been disrupted a bit for a few months but your cycle will get back on track and your only 32, so a bit of time to recover is probably a good thing. I assume the tube test you mean is a HSG. I had one a few years ago and the good news is that the you'll be fine straight afterwards. I can't pretend that the test itself is painless - it's kind of like a bad period cramp but you can't move to relieve it. I remember lying there holding DH's hand with gowned up figures hovering round, thinking this must be what having a baby is like. Only it just lasts a minute or two.

Eminde, I've just spotted on another thread that they let you go ahead with ET after all - I'm really pleased for you and hope that you are taking it easy. Did I read right - 17 embies!!!! That's fantastic. You could create a whole football team out of that lot.

I've started ovulation testing, though it feels a bit early to me. I've had some shorter cycles lately so the clinic made me start on day 8, twice a day. Will cost a fortune in ovulation kits!

Anyhow, best get back to some work

Hi everyone,

I am gearing up for my third attempt at IVF, hopefully will start down-regging in March. Seems a long way off but it's great to start getting to know cycle buddies.

Last year I was a May Flower! Is there anyone else on this thread who I have cycled with before?

Good luck to the ladies I don't know - I hope to get to know you all soon :)

Hi everyone,

I've been so busy lately with work and trying to keep up with the site over the last week and waiting to write until I could get caught up. Finally, I accepted that is not going to happen soon! So I'm just writing to say "Hi". Good to see so much activity on the site. I've been reading too much about high fsh. Not encouraged and feeling sorry for myself lately. AF is due this week, so hormones are not my friend at the moment. Very testy!! Anyway, I'm planning a little shopping this week-end and have my regular acupuncture tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get my PMA back up to par. Hoping everyone is feeling positive and taking great care of themselves. I'll be back to "normal" soon.
Saw a very inspiring Oprah today (skipped boring admin work meeting spent afternoon with my 2 boys - four-legged, furry boys...) It was about a high profile family who lost their teen age son in a plane crash last year. They are truly remarkable people to hear speak. (and it was therapeutic to feel someone else's pain and pull myself out of my pity party.) The mother stated a quote I hadn't heard for a while "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience." Particularly poignant was the autobiography the son had written just before his death for his eighth grade graduation. A quote he created was "The finish line is just the beginning of a whole new race."
Here's to a blessed new race for us all. Image
