Amanda - great news - well done!
souris - Are you ok? how many days into the stims are you? Surely if you are responding slowly they can up your meds? Lets hope they have a "spurt" at the end (it seems to happen a lot - me included. I had a number, but they were very small and didn't count. That is until they told me to stim for a couple of extra days and they finally caught up!)

Hope everyone else is well. Must dash - sorry!

Hi girls, I don't pop in for a couple of days and there is SO MUCH news here. It's hard to keep up.
Sophie, your cats sound adorable. I only hope they're not scratching youhouse to bits.
Jen, good luck with your scan. I hope it all goes well and they get a nice good look at your little embryo growing and growing.
Cla, hang on in there. Not long to go now.
Souris I only had 5 follies at the first scan and they were saying it was going to be cancelled. Second scan only 9, same story and a whole load of messing because my uterus is the wrong shape apparently and they couldn't get the ultrasound around to see if there were more than 2 on the left hand side.
Well I am pleased to announce today they retreive 13 eggs! I can't believe it!!!!!! I decided to follow Zita's advice and keep my tummy warm and eat loads of protein. I don't know if there's any truth to it, but it certainly upped my numbers.
Angela, you got a great result. I hope I follow in your footsteps.
Anna, I would be jigging for you, but my tummy is very sore. Please accept a mental jig. Hope AF arrives on time.
Only 20 hours to wait to hear how any have fertilised. It's really exciting. DH is over the moon. He went to work whilst I was having the procedure- it was a general, so there was no point in him hanging around. The nurses didn't quite know what to make of this- they kept asking if he was in the toilet!

PMA to you all. I'm off to fill my hot water bottle.

Hi Cla

Thanks for your reply.

We are being funded at the moment, so not sure where we could move to. Might have to enquire.
They cannot say when they will be taking Fet patients., next. They are reviewing staff levels weekly and are at the moment operating a booking system. So who knows!!!
I have written a letter today to the medical director at St Mary's and hope to get some response.
We have contacted a private clinic also. But at present are trying to re jig our finances after receiving the price list.
Feeling a little low at the moment as just seem to be getting nowhere. But trying to remain positive as ever. You have to don't you!!!

Hope you are ok.

love christine xx

Hi All,
Just correcting my info -- we're hoping for ET on 5th, not 6th. I'm trying to stay positive and visualize my little embies dividing and growing!
Wow, so much is happening all at once...
Christine202 - sorry to hear about your clinic. This whole thing is already stressful enough, much less these clinics expecting you to be over control of your cycles or else you're faced with disappointment. And, when you are at the whim of someone else's funding, it can be even more strict. If at all possible, I would switch clinics, or try to pay for some of it yourself. The reduction in stress may be worth the money alone! I get that it's expensive, though. We had no funding and are out of $$, so this time better work!
Lynne-congrats on your 13 eggs. Hopefully you will be 13/13 on fertilization. Do you have ET on day 3?
Journey - congrats on those 16 follies. Let's hope they grow, grow, grow!
Sue-e - I'll be crossing my fingers that you don't ovulate today or tomorrow! That really stinks that they are so strict!
Souris - I hope some more follies pop up for you in the next few scans. Some might be hiding - you never know!
Angela - congrats on your 9 embies. Hopefully you can get a couple back in you nice and safely soon!
JenC- congrats on your hcg and prog numbers. You're well on your way to a healthy pregnancy and baby. Can't wait to hear how your first scan goes...
Hope everyone else is doing well.
Kelly

Hi girlies,

Anna thanks for adding me to the list.

Sorry haven't been able to reply since joining - laptop has been into doctors!! so have to log on at work - not always easy, people seem to always come into my office when I'm in the middle of something!

Went to clinic yesterday for follow up consultation - when I spoken to them on the phone I was led to believe that I could start cycle for FET as soon as AF arrives - not the case (maybe I just didn't understand what I was told on the phone). I have to wait at least two cycles which means will not be able to start until at least March and FET will not be until April, that is if AF arrives on time - should be around 15th but we'll see!!

Picked up nasal spray ready to start - saves me having to go in just to collect meds - need to phone when 2nd AF arrives for exact dates - at least this time I'll have tablets instead of injections.

Although it was a  and slightly disappointing, we will at least have time to save the money for the treatment rather than dipping into saving yet again :!: I will also be able to loose a bit more weight - although my BMI is well within the accepted limits a bit more won't hurt.

Congrats to those of you with BFP and good luck - shows that it can happen, so we are all in with a chance. :D

Jackie - sorry to hear your news hun, know how you are feeling, big hugs to you and your DH.

Christine - Bad news about your clinic, I would definately see if you can switch to somewhere else - surely if you are funded and the clinic can't accept you the funding should allow you to go somewhere else, - I know that if we had been lucky enough to get funding there are two clinics our Health Authority use, not sure if we would have got to choose - but hey they might be able to find you somewhere else.

Souris - chin up hun, I also had low follies on baseline visit & they found right ovary was high which caused probs, but the little devils picked themselves up and I ended up with 15 eggs - keep smiling. PMA.

Amanda - well done 16 follies - you go girl.

Lynne - I found a website that was trying to sell meds to IVF patients - these meds were natural ingredients and one of them was supposed to keep your uterus warm - they reckoned that during normal conception the uterus is kept warm naturally, but during IVF all the meds and the encouragement to drink plenty of water can cool the uterus down. Don't know if this is the why you are using hot water bottle but certainly seemed to make sense to me - I looked into the cost of these meds etc - but they cost an absolute fortune and the site was based in USA so would have cost even more to get them to UK - so decided I would drink plenty of warm drinks and use a hot water bottle next time!

KellyH - good luck for Sunday's transfer, take it easy, lots of rest and TLC is needed.

Well I'd better actually go do some work now.

Take care all of you - good luck

Hello everyone!

For those who are wondering, Zita West, in her book Fertility and Conception (excellent book - whole chapter dedicated to IVF and what you should / should not be doing at each stage of tmt), says that you should keep your tummy nice and warm up until the ET. This keeps the uterus warm and increases the blood flow, encouraging follies to grow. I used one on my last cycle and ended up with loads of follies (too many actually but that is just my condition). I think it's a good idea! If your uterus is cold then development of follies might be sluggish.

Christine - what a nightmare! I really feel for you - gled to hear you have complained to someone.
Lynne - 13 is great!!!! I have 13 frozen embies so fingers crossed!
Souris - I hope scan goes well - let's hope they find some more follies in there - I bet they do!!!!!

I am still really low on this oestrodial and very tired too. On a positive note I have told my three closest friends now. It got to the point when I was going to have to tell too many white lies. My friend asked me to look after her 2 vomiting children for a couple of hours today but I explained that I can't risk getting sick as the oestrodial tablets that I'm taking 3 times a day might stop working if I am vomiting. Also I am supposed to be helping out at the school disco the day of my ET, plus the party I mentioned and lots of other things, so I told them. They said they suspected I was anyway and are very supportive. I'm glad its out in the open now.

I'm waiting for a BFP from Cla!!!!!!!!!!

Souris, Sophie, Kelly, Sue thanks so much for your messages.
We found out today that only 12 eggs were viable and they only fertilized 10. I'm not sure why, maybe because its ICSI and the vials of frozen sperm only hold ten. Goodness knows. Anyway, 5 are succesfully fertilised. I am delighted! I know it's not as many as some people, but I am over the moon all the same. ET is tomorrow at 11am.
Amanda, I'm not sure if the hot water bottle thing works, but I thought it couldn't do any harm to try and it's certainly having a calming effect on my poor cramped tummy. It was touch and go after my first scan so I thought I would try everything necessary.
Jo I am chuffed for you!!!!!!! Well done.
Yesterday was such a strange day. I was really pleased with my EC, came on here to tell everyone, then checked my emails. Not a good idea. My Italian friend has died and his son had sent an email a couple of days ago simply saying "Dad Is Dead" which I only opened yesterday. Talk about a bolt from the blue! I didn't know what to feel. I'm desperately trying to keep up the PMA at all costs. I think an attack of the blues could be very detrimental at this stage, but we will really miss him. That's life I suppose. We are creating new life........

Good luck everyone.

Hello,

thank you all guys for your PMA! I had my 2nd scan today and i have 9 follies!! not that great, but much better than 5!!
They seems to be a good size, so i am happy with that!

So EC will be Tuesday 7th and ET Thursday 9! And on the 17th, i am going back to my hubby!

Lynne, well done with the 5 embies, it's great! I am so so sorry about your friend, please try to keep the PMA even if it is hard. Hug to you dear.

Sophie, I hope things will get better for you, try to rest as much as possible... I am sure you feel better now that your friends know about the tmt, all those white lies can be really tiring!

Kelly, sorry you have to wait a bit longer, but i am sure it is for the best! As you said, it gives you more time to be even more healthy!!
thank you for your nice words...

Amanda, i decided today to try the hot water bottle. DOnt know if it works, but in any case, it is really realxing!

Kelly, good luck with ET, i am sure those embies are real strong and cant wait to be back in your tummy!

Ok, guys, speak soon!
take care

Hi all,
ET went well yesterday - although still feeling uncomfortable from EC I'm trying not to imagine stuff going wrong internally and that it is all normal. Assuming ovaries still sorting themselves out. I feel increasingly uncomfortable as my bladder fills - did anyone else have this?

I'm sure I read somewhere that V8 juice is good to reduce swelling in ovaries because of the sodium. I've been drinking this, and am worrying now that I'm getting too addicted to it and therefore having too much sodium! whoever posted this tip originally - were you givin any guidance as to how much is okay in one day?

Anyway, best go and put my feet up again as my DH will tell me off!

Souris - fab news about the follies! See, sometimes they just need a shove in the right direction and then they take off!
Lynne - That's great about the fertilisaation. I know it's a phrase used a lot but it really does only take one.
Angela - Can't remember who mentioned the V8 but you're right - it was recently (was it Jackie?). Soz - i don't know anything about it.

Have posted a longer reply on my test date thread - but my test was inconclusive!! Was positive but so faint, they won't make any promises. Have to go back next Weds for another test and/or bloods. So not a roaring success, but a success anyway!
Thanks for all your messages - you're fab!

Am just going to slob on the settee now!

Talk soon
