Hey girls
Rio sorry to hear your results i don't know anything about gestational diabetes except to say it can make bub bigger so i'm hoping it isn't too serious. Sorry your not feeling too good at the moment i guess once you find out all the info and get settled into the diet you'll feel better. i go for my test on the 5th of August and with the junk i've been eating i expect to be there with you.

Oh Suga i'm worried for you but at the same time sort of excited not that your bubs keep threatening to come early but knowing that we are all getting closer by the day and you all will soon know what it feels like to be mummies which is pretty cool. But more specifically to you have you packed your hospital bag with all these scares i would have one in the boot of the car just incase i just couldn't imagine my dh being able to organize what i need if i wasn't there to do it for him. Keep rested, relaxed and i hope things settle down for you soon.

Yeah gecko the weight loss thing was very short lived i weighed myself again this am and i was back up again i must have just not eaten much the day before i weighed myself last oh well to do hey get fat and enjoy

Loopie my dh was funny when planning for the arrival of ds my sister was offereing to come and stay with us for a few days before due so she could be there to help and stuff and dh was like no its fine it'll just be you and me we don't need anyone else to come being all brave and macho and then we went to birthing classes and watched 3 or 4 births on the video and by the end of them he was like you best get your sister to move in now and make sure shes here i'll just wait outside and let her help you and i swear he had the look of fear on him which was funny, after one session his plans had changed. on the good side he did manage to stay with me with my sister and my mum and even while i had the emergancy ceasar.

sorry have to go i have a rental inspection today so i need to clean up

Hi lady's!! I am sorry about your results. I guess the good part is the end is near. But that totally sucks. So I am also scard of all those things. But as far as the birth I will have meds no doubt about it. Im not even going to attempt to go natural unless I dont have an option. Im trying not to let the whole labor freak me out. I am hoping not to have a c- but you know how that goes sometimes as well. Ok well I hope everyone has a good week!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks jomae. Yeah weird to think it is just around the corner! I do have a hospital bag packed ever since the first visit in the hospital. One thing to remember girls: CHAPSTICK! The hospital is such a dry environment that your lips get really chapped. Also, I need a little saline nose spray for the same reason. Just such dry air in there.

Being in the hospital made me gain weight because I had 3 full course meals. I gained 2 pounds in a week there! Now that I am back home I just do not eat as much. Tomorrow is another anatomy scan which is the highlight of my week since I get to get out of the house! TV during the day is kinda boring.

Hey Suga
How did your scan go was it today i'm never sure if it's my today or your today with the time difference and all, anyhow i hope your scan went well and you enjoyed some sunshine on your day escapeing bed rest. i haven't been in hospital except for the birth of ds since i was a kid and i must admit i actually loved the food i know everyone complains about hospital food but i actually enjoyed it.

My forget me not tip for the birth is to nake sure someone is clear on what photo's you want taken and even being as fussy as noteing the closeness of teh bub in the shot because i was so exhausted and out of it after my ceasar i missed what i feel were some important shots and some of those that were taken for me i wished were closer i know it's not a great deal it was just something i regretted not thinking about earlier.

Anyone picked out coming home outfits for bub yet i found a sweet little pink dress with a little bow on the front and i plan to get little booties and a light wrap incase its still cool girls have so many gorgeous outfits to choose from i love this part i've also brought katie her first bear bear my ds is super attatched to his that i had to buy a back up bear incase something happened to the first and now a spare for the spare which is funny seeing he now sleeps with 4 bears all the same but with different pyjamas on them plus one i found that is the same but a smaller version anyway i brought Katie her first bear that is the same as ds's but pink i just thought it was something nice to do for her also knowing how much ds love his bears

To change the subject anyone particualrily ( forgive me for this ) gassy, over the past few days i can't beleive whats going on and can't figure where it's all coming from it doesn't stink thank god but none the less. Does anyone know what your deficient in if your nails are particualrily white it's not my whole nail but is a good half and as far as i know it's means i'm lacking in something but i just don't know what.

Rio question i've been thinkinbg about my upcoming gd test since you got your results and i was wondering if you were craving sweets is this a sign of having gd or not hows the diet going by the way not to bad to stick to i hope

Hello everyone else hope your all well

Good news - We had an u/s yesterday and bean is measuring 2.5 weeks ahead, which he has since the first few weeks. OB said everything looked great and that it is still a boy!!! He was trying to suck on his umbilical cord, playing with his feet and opening and closing his hands, it was amazing to see (we hadn't had an ultra in 2 mos!)
Bad news - I have been meticulous about my diet and following all directions, my glucose was low/fine yesterday afternoon then at night it was very high and also fasting this morning. I am really worried I will be put on insulin also since I am getting these spikes even with the diet  I am just really bummed. I feel like my body is failing me and bean and I can't help it!

Jomae- Don't worry about your GD test, you will do fine, only like 5% of women get it. It doesn't have to do with the diet you were on either, it is just the way your body works (or doesn't) when you are pregnant. I have been gassy also  Cute outfit you picked out for your little girl. How is DS? Is he excited or a little jealous?
Suga How was your anatomy scan? Sorry you had to go back to triage and take magnesium :( It is amazing to think that they could be here in 6 weeks, those girls just can't wait to meet mommy! I am glad you are getting great care to keep those beans warm and cozy in there!
Katie - don't be too scared! we will all be fine!
Gecko how are you doing? How is the potty training?
loopie did you find a place to stay with your "little" baby?
Cute belly pics everyone!!! Keep posting pics! Anyone else has a nursery they can show off?

Hello - sorry to crash your thread - I'm in the Jan 09 baby thread, but I was hoping to get some advice from people at about 6 months pg. We're planning a holiday at 19-20 weeks pg (our last break before the run-in) and I wanted to know how mobile you feel at this stage? We're in England and will probably take the train to France (2.5 hours) and then drive around (possibly 2-3 hours in the car at a time) staying in little hotels or something for a few days at a time. (This is the sort of holiday we enjoyed pre-pg.) Does this sound like something feasible or would the travelling be a killer? The other option would be to fly, which would be less travelling, but don't know if I want to be up in a plane and it's still a bit of a hassle getting to airports etc. What do you think?

Hope you're all having good pregnancies and good luck for the third trimester. Thanks for your advice and sorry again for butting in.

Hi Tinnotts
Firstly congrats on your bfp and lucky you being able to go off on a holiday i say go for it i feel pretty good and wouldn't hesitate going on a holiday i couldn't see any reason why you couldn't so enjoy.

HEy Rio i don't know how ds will go i look after my nephew occasionally and he gets a little jealous if i'm holding him but he loves having him over and likes to try and entertain the baby my sister will have her new bub 4 weeks before i will have katie so it'll be a good chance to get him use to the idea. hey lucky you getting to see bub again 2and a half weeks ahead wow definatley sounds like a strong boy sorry i can't offer any advice on the diet and sugar levels i really have no idea on how to treat it properly i guess you should talk to your doctor again and it probably will take alittle while to get use to and to know what exactly sets it off.

I think i had a spell of hypoglycemia last night i was posting on the thread and when i looked up from the computer i felt slightly dizzie i stood up to get ds into bed and felt increasingly dizzy enough to hold on to furniture to stop falling over i went and immediatley laid in bed and i swear the whole room was spinning and today iv'e felt slightly light headed all day i had my blood pressure checked it was 55 over 120 or the other way around which the doc said the 55 was a bit low but otherwise ok and suggested it could be a virus but i just read on the net that eating a poor diet and not often enough can cause the hypiglycemia and seeing i ate a snickers bar about 10 mins before i felt dizzy seems to fit in and possibly be the cause. Anyone else feeling dizzy or have suggestions on what could be the cause anyone know anything about iron levels and how it affects you if low
And to top it all of i think i have another uti infection starting.
Hope your all well chat later ladies i'm off to bed

Congrats TinNotts! I felt fine at 20 weeks. Just a few weeks ago I took a 3-day business trip to LA (from Chicago) and had no problems w/the flight or getting around, etc...The only difference for me was that I couldn't carry as much stuff. I didn't start gaining weight until around 20 weeks, so you couldn't really tell I was pregnant yet and that may be why my mobility wasn't really affected by the pregnancy at 20 weeks. But, as you know, everyone is different. Actually, even now at 26 weeks I'm very mobile. DH and I walked about 8 miles in the city and along the lakefront last Saturday. I do think I've been really fortunate/lucky with my health so far, though, and that this is probably not the norm. Hope this is helpful! Have a wonderful trip! :D

Jomae - Did you talk to the dr? I hope that you feel better.

Rio - Yay for the healthy baby! Glad your little one is doing so well! I hope the GD relents in the coming weeks. How is the diet going?

My folks got in town last night and my best friend arrived this morning. So nice to have everyone! I'm getting a taste of what it'll be like to have the baby in our condo b/c my best friend is giving us lots of her baby toys/bouncers/etc...and my rather minimalist condo that was decorated mainly in yellow/cream/black is now full of bright blue and green and all other colors of toys. Such a happy change, though. Hope we can stay in the city but I can see space becoming a major issue soon!

Hi TinNotts! Congratulations on your baby! That is a difficult question to answer since it varies so much from one woman to another. I think the main thing is that as long as there are no complications and your doctor says it is ok, you might also want to check out all the hospitals and clinics nearby just in case. Some of us had to do bedrest, some of us are ready to walk 8 miles! So it just really depends on how you feel and how your pregnancy progresses. Hopefully everything will be fine and you can enjoy your vacation. I took a vacation at 18 weeks and it was wonderful. My feet got swollen but that was after a 9 hour flight! Good luck!
Jomae I have been having lots of dizzy spells, a couple of weeks go I had them all day long. I think it is common for pregnant women to get dizzy as long as you are not fainting. Try to eat snacks like low fat string cheese and things like that constantly to keep your blood sugar levels normal. Before my GD diagnosis I got dizzy if I didn't eat then had sugar. Hope you feel better!
Mellie The diet is going ok, I feel hungry al the time  oh well! My levels seem to be getting better except for fasting in the morning. I will get this figured out, hopefully! How fun to have everyone visiting you! And all the baby toys!!!! :D I am sure any house will feel small taken over by baby things everywhere! But what a wonderful thing! How's the nursery?

Well the anatomy scan went great. The girls are doing wonderfully. Mackenzie (A) is 2 lbs. 12 oz. and Brooke (B) is 2 lbs. 11 oz. so they are right on track! He said A has a little Buddha belly which is fine...

During the scan though it made me really nauseated to have them with the wand all over my belly then I started getting really light headed so they had to take a break a couple of times so I did not hurl or pass out. It was horrible. The tech said this was normal for some women at this stage? So I go back in 4 weeks to get another big scan done and next Thursday is just a reg. OB apt.

Thanks for the advice, riogirl, mellie and jomae. I think we'll go for it. We'll take good holiday insurance, just in case! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancies and I'll go back off to my own thread now! Byee.

Yay Suga! I'm so glad your little ones are doing well! That must be so comforting. I had no idea about nausea during the later u/s scans but thanks for the heads-up. It's good to be warned about stuff like that.

Rio - That's lousy to have to be hungry! Is there anything else you can have to keep full? Like a protein shake or something? As for the nursery, I can't really do much until after this weekend. The guest room that will become the baby's room is full of furniture that we're gonna donate but I wanted to see if my parents wanted any of it first so they're gonna take anything they want and then we're calling the Salvation Army next week to pick up the rest. That's when we'll really get to start decorating.

Hope everyone feeling good! Sure is hot here today. We're having our first real heat wave. How's the weather by the rest of you?

Suga- GREAT news! Good job on keeping your girls tucked in and healthy! Sorry you got nausea :(
Mellie Now I don't feel so bad that our nursery is not even started!!! I feel like a slacker! Not too many options for snacks, I will get used to it, I am sure!

Are you girls using a bassinet next to your bed or straight to brib? If you are using one, i am taking suggestions, they seem so expensive for 3 mos use!

Hi girls!

Rio - so sorry about the GD. I hope the diet is not too much of a pain to deal with and I really hope you can stay off insulin. No more shots!

Sug - congrats on a healthy 28 week report! Sounds like the girls are thriving.

Jomae - you be careful with the dizzy spells. I know I was having them pretty badly before I went on iron supplements for the anemia. It probably doesn't help much that I don't get up often.

Gecko - is DH home yet? My DH was at the Firefighter Olympics in San Jose all week. It's usually a summer vac we take together but...oh well. It seems like he's been gone forever, but I did go stay for a couple of days at my sister's house which made it a little less lonely. I've been home alone now though since Tuesday, with the exception of a couple visitors yesterday. I know it's nothing compared to how long your DH has been gone. I really don't know how you are doing it.

Mellie, I always stayed at the Fairfield Inn on Ontario St. I am not familiar with all of the neighborhoods so I don't know exactly where you live. Our office that used to be there in the city has moved, so unfortunately Chicago won't be on my radar for a long while, but I do love that city. I'm not a big city girl but if I had to live the city life, Chicago would probably be the only place I would consider. I am originally from St. Charles, but my family moved to CA when I was only 7.

Well, we are finally going to get started on the nursery. I was waiting to hit 24 weeks. Like you Mellie, we have to clean out the guest room, so it'll take a couple of weeks just to do that (DH has to move into my closet now). We are going to put the furniture in storage and then start setting up the cribs. I am starting to get really excited. My sister is having a shower for me on Aug 17th. I'm not big on the whole "girlie" shower thing, but oh well. It's mostly for family. I think some friends are going to have a couples bbq/shower sometime in September, which is way more my style. I had to do my entire registry online, so everything I picked is sight-unseen. I mainly used the Baby Bargains book (love that thing) for guidance. I don't remember who asked about bassinets, but I decided just to use the twin bassinet Pack & Play. My sister loved hers as a bassinet before moving the baby to the crib. Plus it works double-duty because then you have a playpen! We just don't have the room for 2 bassinets, and it does seem like a lot of expense to only get a few months of use out of it. Wow, have I rambled on forever. I guess I better shut up now. Updates on the babies are on my blog...have a great weekend everyone!

Rio: I am doing straight crib. I agree on the waste of money bassinets are. However, there is a bed in the babies room so I am staying in there for a few weeks at least (that is where I am now on bed rest with my little tv!) Sorry about the hunger thing...eat lots of no carb stuff like meat, cheese, pepperoni, etc.
