Ahart, I've been wondering where you've been. I almost posted asking if anyone had heard from you. I also haven't heard from Eminde in a long time. We all had our first scan with multiples around the same time.

You sure have had a rough time! My thoughts are with you. I hope you don't have to go back to the hospital and hope you get feeling better soon! Take care of yourself and those babies!

Hey everyone. I dont have a lot of time to post since work is busy today. I just need your input on something.

I had 2 embies put back on 4/4 and i am currently 6 wks 4 days pregnant as of today. My first u/s was scheduled for 5/8.

Sat night - I had some slight bleeding. Nothing bad - just some pinkish staining on the t-paper and 2 clotty looking things. I had no pain, cramps, nothing. Of course I was freaking out. I called my doctor at midnight and he got me in Sunday morning for an ultrasound. I saw one perfect little beanie - it measured at 5.5 mm and the heartrate was 117 bpm. He said everything looked and measured perfect. I felt very relieved - but had another episode of slight pinkish spotting last night - this time there were no clots. The doctor said 1 in 4 women bleed during pregnancy and it could be the result of a couple of different things. I also had a nosebleed Sat. night - which I never get. He took me off of the low dose aspirin and said maybe the placenta had torn slightly from the uterine wall - or blood vessels can bleed as the uterus expands.

I feel positive - since I saw the heartbeat and everything - but I am still worried.

I was wondering - do any of you have experiences like this to share?

Hi Ladies

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. I feel slightly better today, yesterday was just horrible. I have my ultrasound at a high risk imaging center tomorrow, will keep you all posted. I'm officially on bed rest for the duration of the pregnancy.

LisaB - Try not to worry, I had some bleeding also that scared me, started out pinkish and then red, then brown. Doc saw some residual blood hanging around. My beanies were ok, though...I understand your worrying though. My husband was telling me not to worry and that they were okay

MaryAnnandScott - I pray that noone else goes through this, but I'm feeling much better now. I pray that you continue on without any M/S, but with a healthy pregnancy

KristiA - Thanks, I pray that Eminde is ok also, maybe she's on a low key status and maybe a little sick, but ok

I finally decided to come over to this forum. Was going to wait until next scan, when I can feel more confident of this pregnancy, but came to the conclusion that if I did that my 1st trimester would be more than 2/3 over.
Since I had decided to enjoy this pregnancy, as long as it lasts (hopefully to a healthy baby Image ), here I am! Hope I can join you.

Ahart - Sounds like you went though a rough time Image , hope you feel better soon and quickly. Image

LisaB - Please try not to worry (better said than done I know), if your Dr. says it's normal. I know of many ladies that had bleeding (some quite heavy  ) and had healthy pregnancies. :D :)

MaryAnnandScott - I'm sure you have heard of a few ladies that only found out that they were pregnant a few months into pregnancy - they had no symptoms either. Enjoy, as most aren't that pleasant! Image
I don't have many symptoms either (besides a huge belly that I'm not supposed to have as it's too early!), just a queasiness ever now and then, starting to feel more tired and so much thirst (though I’ve not read about that symptom anywhere!!) Image

Hi to everyone else. Image And happy pregnancies to all! Image

Hi...Happy to be here!!!

Post by RozRozboboz »

Hi guys.

I am so happy to be here!!! Like many of you I have been reluctant to post over here until I was further along but I now realize that I had better try to leave the negative thoughts and fear behind.

My husband and I are having twins!!! We transferred three embies on 19 March; HCG level of 225 on 31 March (12dpd4t with ICSI and PGD); HCG level of 1900+ on 3 April; and two sacs, two babies, and two heartbeats on 13 April. Now we are just in Heaven!!! (As evidenced by how many exclamation marks are in this note!!!)

As for symptoms, I have had extreme nausea and queasiness for the last three weeks. It started somewhere around week six. At first, I just thought, "Wow, that gum has a very strong smell." Within two days, everything smelled too strong, including garlic and onions, our Dove bath soap, anything containing more than a trace of oil, and my husband's Extra brand gum (I think the culprit is the artificial sweetener). I went from cooking almost every night to only wanting to eat cucumbers (they smell so clean and fresh), bread, crackers, and frozen waffles (Oh my God, they have partially hydrogenated oil in them and I am chowing them down). So, we have been eating takeout and frozen waffles for three weeks straight. Slowly, but surely, the nausea is tapering off a bit. I actually made a veggie burger for lunch. But, I am still extremely sensitive to the smell of garlic and onions. Ugghhh, just the thought!!!

And my last significant symptom is that I must eat at least every two hours (unless I am sleeping). On Saturday, my husband and I had lunch and a mere two hours later, I was saying that I was hungry. He totally made the mistake of saying, "Already? We just ate!" After I lectured him at length (well, not really at length...I mean I had to get to making lunch#2), he promised that he would stop making comments like that. I am happy because I don't think that the constant food parade is about to stop.

I'm happy to be here. And I hope that my ticker works. : )

Roz, I had the same symptons with my twins and it hit right at 6 weeks too. There were specific things I could eat and I ate constantly (even every 2 hours during the night). Plus nauseus, sick, etc. It lasted 4 weeks for me and the past couple weeks I've felt much better and am eating normally again. Congrats on the twins! I love telling people I'm pregnant...then pause...then say "with twins" and the shock on the face makes it so fun.

Danielle, congrats on your scan! It's exciting, huh? I'm glad all went well with you and you are so happy about it!

Hi everyone....I've been a bit low key lately too, although I have been reading everyone's posts most days.

Danielle - congrats on seeing your little heartbeat...isn't it amazing? I can't wait for my next scan to see little fingers & toes. I think because you don't 'feel' anything this early in the pregnancy, it's hard to believe there is a little one moving about inside you (or a couple for you multiple ladies!).

RozRoz - It was very interesting readin about your symptoms - they seem very common! I havent' really had anything like that, but I do have a bit of an obsession for oranges & mandarins at the moment....I eat 5 or 6 a day.

Lisa - I read your post on the General forum as well. A lot of my friends (all of whom fell preg naturally) experienced some bleeding. One of my friends even had a clot the size of her hand (sorry tmi) at 12 weeks. All went on with successful pregnancies & had beautiful little babies! I know it must be hard, but try to remember it is normal, and if you have seen the little one & it's heart beating away, then that is a great sign!

ahart - so sorry about your sickness....how awful. So you are on bed rest for the rest of the pregnancy??? Wow, that's a lot of pampering! I hope you start to feel a whole lot better from now on.

I go for my 12 week scan next week & appointment with the hospital. At this stage, I am not having a Nuchal test - I don't think I could terminate the pregnancy no matter what the news. Is everyone having a Nuchal Translucency test?

Bella, so good to hear from you. It seems like it's been awhile since we've heard from you. So glad you are doing well.

What's a Nuchal test? I've seen some of you mention that and when you mentioned not terminating the pregnancy I got to thinking it must be something like what I'm doing tomorrow. I'm doing the CVS test, which is similar to the amneocentesis, only done about a month earlier. It checks for genetic defects. Is that similar?

Kristi,

A Nuchal test measures the size of the neck of the baby during the ultrasound - it doesn't involve any needles or catheter unlike CVS. The test is to detect the possibility of your baby having chromosome abnormalities especially Down Syndrome. I don't know whether I should have any of these tests, and I haven't really had any great advice from Doctors yet, so I'm just not doing it at the moment. Maybe after my appointment at the hospital they will give me more advice....

Intersting. That sounds less risky and sounds like it detects the same sort of things...chromosomal issues, downs syndrome, etc. I can't shake this yucky feeling about doing CVS tomorrow. My IVF place and OBGYN suggested it. I just keep praying that we're not making a mistake and asking that God watches over my babies through it. My babies are too precious to me for any risk, which is what is making me queasy tonight! On that note, I'm going to try to sleep and not worry about it. Yeah, right!!!!!!!

Kristi - don't worry! As you know, the risk of anything happening as a result of the test is EXTREMELY low....

But, if you really are worried, why not ask for a Nuchal Translucensy first? I think here, you are only suggested for a CVS if the Nuchal tests shows a high risk, or have a family history of a genetic disorder.
