1st trimester friends

Post by Mil »

Hello everyone! I'm new to this side. I finally got a BFP on Monday 5/16/05 and retested on 5/18/05. This was the best news of mine and my DH lives.

I am 5 weeks today and my first scan is scheduled for next week. So we will get to see how many babies..... :D I hope there are some people here that I can share in the 1st trimester trauma with.

I was wondering if the worrying ever stops. I just keep thinking my doctor's office is going to call me and say it was all a big mistake. I feel like I am already feeling symptoms but my people keep telling me it is too early and that it is all in my head. Has anyone else experienced any symptoms this early? I have had a racing heart rate, slight nausea (especially when I take my prenatal vitamins), very small cramps and I feel very bloated. I was told my ovaries are still very swollen since doing IVF so could this be the cause of the bloating still?

Hope I get to chat with many new expectant moms.....

Hi I just got a BFP today. Its my 2nd pregnancy, and I've got bad bloating too from the pessaries. Are you on these too? I have to take them til I'm 12 weeks pregnant! I have bad nausea and I am only 4 weeks pregnant, but clinic said is probably because I have very high hormone levels, which is also a sign of twins, so you never know!
I just cant wait for my 7 week scan so everything gets confirmed as being OK.
I think there's a few mayflowers got pg this month, so a few more will be joining us I suspect.

Hi Susie and Mil!

Congratulations to you both!!!!!

Could I join you please? It's so amazing to be able to post on this side of the board!!! Hope you are both doing ok?
Susie - I have already started suffering with nausea too! But it's the nicest kind of sicky feeling ever, makes me feel more like it really is happening! Are you finding your eating is a bit weird? I think this week has been so mind-blowing that I don't feel like eating but making myself eat as you worry about the little one/s!! I guess we need to get used to worrying now!
Mil - I think it is going to take little while for our ovaries to completely calm down after all the eggs we've grown! It seems it's going to take us all a little while for it to sink in, I feel the same too like I'm going to find out I was dreaming or something!!!
Good luck with your scans, I should be getting my date on Monday all being well!
Loads of Luck,
Love Kel XX

p.s. Is it counted as 4 weeks from test date?? I was too excited when i spoke to my Nurse and forgot to check!

Welcome Kel, theres a pregnancy calculator at the left hand side menu near the bottom, it says my bubbas due on 23rd Jan, my scan is on 9th June and I just cant wait. I already have one child but I'm still excited, I didnt stop worrying all through the last pregnancy and I think this one is gonna be just the same.

Hello Susie & Kel!!! I'm so excited you have joined me. This is just such a thrilling time and I'm happy to get to chat with people who are going through the same things. I have many friends that have had babies naturally but never through IVF and I think it feels different for us. I know it was just as exciting for them but they didn't have to deal with everything we have had to deal with.
Oh and congrats to you both too.

Susie: I am not on pessaries. I'm not even sure what that is. I hope it's not that bad. I was only intramuscular progesterone shots. But they called me on Wed and said my progesterone level was 109 and they only wanted it to be 60 so I don't have to take the shots anymore. That was a big relief since they hurt pretty bad. I can't wait until my scan either next week. I get to do my scan at 6 weeks. I'm due just a few days before you 1/20/05.

Kel:
Of course you can join us. Anyone is welcome here. I'm glad to see other people and chat with you. I agree the nausea, etc makes it feel real and I don't even really mind. :P On the eating thing... I'm either really hungry and or not hungry at all and I'm totally craving Mexican food. I have had Mexican food every day this week and I think I'm going to have it again for lunch..... Is that crazy or what.

Hi Girls!

Susie - How did you work out your dates with an IVF cycle? So it is 4 weeks from test date yeah? Sorry to be so clueless, at least I can blame that on being PG now!!!!!
Mil - You have said it so well! Of course every baby is very special, but when you have gone through so much to get there it really does it make you appreciate more how lucky we are. That's great you can now stop the progesterone  I'm the same as Susie on the pessaries up to 12 weeks, seems to be a standard in the UK. Enjoy the mexican food!! It is amazing how instant the weird food thing is! It comes on in big waves doesn't it! I have got a large packet of mini cheddars following me around for those nausea moments, works good so far!

I'm so wrapped up in myself I forgot to say congrats to you both
I think its strange how we all are the same age. How many embryos did you both have put back. I had 2, and if you have twins then you only have a 37 week pregnancy, so mine would be due on 2nd Jan. I just want my scan now so I can see!
I've not got any strange cravings or anything, but we're having a chinese takeaway to celebrate (cant go out coz all my babysitters are on holiday)
Have you both told everyone yet? I've told a few people but still scared coz I am still worried something will go wrong my DH wants to shout it from the roof and cant stop crying, hes so soft.

Hi everyone

Hello everyone and congratulations on your BFP's!!
I am 5 weeks 4 dys today. My first scan is 26\5\05, but nervous due to my HCG blood levels been lower than the clinic expected.( 9\5 was 52 and 11\5 was 81). Certainly feeling side effects though (Nausea, dizzyness, v.tired today, sore boobs,AF type cramps) I also did a HPT last saturday and that was a definate +ve, so trying not to worry and enjoy being pregnant.

Mil-From what everyone is saying it cant be too early for symptoms because we cant all be imagining them can we?! I know I wont stop worrying either!

Susie -I am also on the prog pessaries. Every 6 hrs. I am getting up at 4.30\5am every morning to do one. It is quite nice hearing the birds singing. Hope the nauseas not too bad to deal with. Mine is relatively mild at the moment and enjoying the feeling.....probably change my mind if starts to really kick in!

Kel-I know what you mean about the nausea been a nice feeling at moment, any thing that reminds us we are pregnant. I have also lost my appetite and have to make myself eat sometimes.

Take care of yourselves, speak soon

Hello again ladies! Susie we forgive you for not congratulating us... I almost forgot too. That is a neat point you bring up about our age.

I had 3 embryos transferred. All along I was only going to transfer 2 but our embryos were not the best quality. I had 27 eggs removed, 21 were fertilized and 14 survived fertilization. I had a day 5 transfer and on day 5 only 2 had made it to blastocyst and were very fragmented. My doctor suggested that I transfer 3 and hope for the best. Unfortunately, we didn't get any frosties. So I really hope we have twins. I didn't realize you only had a 37 week pregnancy with twins. I can't wait till next Friday. We are going away for the weekend so that will at least make the weekend past by fast.

I have told everyone I can possibly tell. I know it is really early but I could not hold it in. My husband is a bit more cautious about telling people. But we have told all our family and close friends.

Welcome K & congrats on your BFP!!!! You are a few days ahead of me. I am 5 weeks today! You shouldn't worry too much about your HCG blood levels. I have read so much on them and there is so many conflicting publications. I found a website that gives you the median average, lowest & highest HCG reported. You should check it out. http://www.betabase.info/index.php

Hi!! Congratulations to us all!! I never thought I'd get to post on this side and honestly, I'm still having to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming   ! We got a BFP on May 9 and we are still in shock. This was our first (and last due to $$$) IVF and we feel unbelievably blessed and I know each of you do, too.

By the 9th day after our 5 day transfer, I was having HUGE waves of nausea and actually sick! My boobs are very sore and still having some nausea from time to time. Everyone's symptoms are different.

Had a scare this week as I've been having dull AF pains all along. Then, on Wed., I was having intermittent sharp pains and then discovered that I was bleeding. Just knew our dream was over and my dr. wanted me to come in immediately. They did a scan and found that one of the little embies had not implanted and the blood was coming from that. We also discovered one little embie who already has a heart beat. That was very exciting!! Next ultrasound is June 1. Cannot wait to see how much change happens in 2 weeks!

Our expected due date is Jan. 11!! Glad to meet all of you and can't wait to share this experience together!

Hugs and Kisses,

Joining you girls - although I will be off to the 2nd trimester soon. I'm 12 weeks and 1 day today with twins! My EDD is 2/12/05. I am showing a bit allready and have been in maternity clothes since last week.

Nausea is much better now, the worst time for me was around week 6/7/8.

I'm finishing up on meds now, just finishing the packet, so from next week no more Uterogesan, Progynova or PIO injections for me.

Mil - the worry never stops does it. I always thought the 2ww was the worst, now I think the wait from BFP to first scan is a killer, and then the wait till 12 weeks. I'm now hoping I can relax a little, but am really worries about stopping the meds. I know it's silly, but I've got it into my head that I need them!

Congrats to all the newbie BFPs.

Morning Girls!

Hello and Congratulations to Kim, Katy and Joy!! Great to have a few of us, are we the nausea gang then or what?!!!

Susie - I didn't know that about twins either! I had 2 Blastocysts put back, never know! We have just told close family at the moment which was amazing as we decided not to tell anyone we were cycling for this cycle, and so it was a total shock for everyone!!!! Was lovely and how I always hoped I would be able to do it, made it feel even better if possible!! That is lovely about your DH, bet he does want to shout from the roof tops!!!
Kim - I totally agree with Mil about your HCG levels, I'm sure you will be fine! As that is pretty much doubled hasn't it. Loads of luck with your scan next week!
Katy - That must have been amazing to see the little heart beating away! Lots of luck with your next scan, bet you can't wait!
Mil - It must have been so lovely to tell your family and freinds, bet everyone is so thrilled!!
Joy - Bet you are really pleased to be buying those materninty clothes!! Congrats on your Twins - you must be over the moon!

Got the results from my second blood test and it was all good thankfully, so I now have my first scan booked for 15th June!! Wow so great to be able to say that!! It does seem a lot longer than you girls, as I'll be 8 weeks then, but I am happy with with whatever they say as they did get me here in the first place! I am just going to enjoy every minute!

Hope you all have lovely weekends - sun is shining at last! 8)

Thank you for starting this thread Mil. I popped over to this board a few days ago and couldn't see where I would fit in so thank goodness you had a bit sense about you - I'm sadly lacking!

To all of you - congratulations on your BFP. I know I've chatted to a couple of you anyway from the general forum.

We had a BFP on 11/05/05 with an HCG of 192!! Given all that had happened during my 2WW we couldn't believe that the embie/s had managed to cling on. Still quite shocked and in a dazed state quite a bit of the time!! My OHSS is now resolved and my right knee is a bit less swollen and I am managing to walk, or should I say hobble about, now without my crutches.

We have our scan on Thursday 2nd June and I can't wait. DH and I have just been discussing when to tell friends and family. My mum and our close friend and DH already know but I think we're going to hold off breaking the news to everyone else for a few more weeks yet.

I'm really looking forward to sharing experiences with my fellow Mayflowers - this is all soooooooooooooooo exciting.

Bye for now

Maci x
