Hey Guys
Katie had her 8 weeks chwck up and shots she weighs 4850grams which is approx 10 pounds 2 ounces, she only cried for one of her shots which wasn't too bad and at this point doesn't seem to have any affects from them.I so hope she doesn't get a fever and even more hope she doesnt get the vomits and diarehoa (Spelling?) which is apparently an effect from the oral one she had. I also had my check up and i need further blood tests as my thyroid is playing up apparently its over active which is explaining my moods of late which have been shocking.

Suga i think you asked about drooling the nurse actually just told me the other day that its a developmental milestone around the first month or two to drool more so sounds like the girls are right on track. I read your other post about the worse than reflux thing i hope you get some answers with your appointment and more importantly some helpful methods to help soothe her .

Tino sounds like Noah is doing well i'm jealous of your feeding times although Katie is just now in the last few days beginning to stretch out her night feeds at the most she went from being fed at 8.45 and didn'e wake until 3.30 for her next feed which would have beeen great if i went to bed after i fed her and took advantage of the long break between feeds

Hey Katie just wondering if Parkers poos are green and frothy i know when bub is getting too much fore milk they can get alot of belly pains and gas and the green frothy poo is an indication that this is happening just a thought. Good news on bub doing so well on the long trip

Rio sorry your surgery hasn't gone a smoothly as planned i hope your feeling better now though.

jomae--thanks for the tip he goes to doc monday so i will ask. no his poo is yellow w/ the seeds so who knows. he has been so fussy but he has a cold and he is gassy. i hope u get your thyroid fixed im sorry to hear. take care

Well the girls had their 4 months appt today! According to their scale Brooke is 12 lbs even and 21 inches. I think they said 38 on the head? I do not remember. Kenzie is 11 lbs 9 oz and 21 1/2 inches and I think 39 on the head? lol. But Brooke has GERD and the pedi said there is nothing else we can really do other than up her dose on the Zantac and the Prevacid. So hopefully that helps a little. She does not want the milk to be thicker more than it is cause they are gaining weight faster than they are growing.

So hopefully they grow taller here soon so they can hit the growth chart. Everything else they were in like the 10% which I think is normal for preemies. But at least they are on the chart now!

She wants me to start putting them in the crib to sleep instead of their car seat. She said that as long as I prop up the crib it should be fine. Other wise they are going to get really used to sleeping in the car seat and have a harder time adjusting and sleeping through the night. So pray that it goes well! I am going to have to go out and buy more sheets cause I am sure there will be lots of spit ups!

But the girls are exhausted cause they missed their nap entirely so they are napping now. So they are a little off schedule today and not feeling well from their shots.

Otherwise they are in good health! We start rice cereal (like spoon fed) in FEB!!! And that is their next appt too. Hopefully they are ready to eat solids cause she said that should help a lot with the GERD.

suga- great news on the girls progress- those weights are terrific! stinky about the GERD- will you raise or tilt 1 side of the crib?
I can't believe they're 4 mos! incredible (even if it is like 2 mos- they are way bigger than Pulman) - he'll be 7 weeks tomorrow and probably only weighs 7 lbs!!! docs don't seem worried- he grew a 1/2inch in length at 1 month and I think he's longer still b/c the newborn clothes are getting too short and his feet get stuck- but the 0-3mos stuff is huge and hangs on his skinny self

OH- and he smiled at me this week!!!!!!! I even got confirmation from a friend that it was a real honest to goodness smile!!

speaking of smiles- got to go - dentist appt!

Jomae - Evie gets her 8 week shots on Monday. Did your Katie continued to feel good after getting hers? Sounds like she handled it well.

Suga - My Evie is drooling, too. It just started about a week ago.

Rio - 5 incisions! You poor thing! I hope you're doing ok. Thanks for the good wishes. We transferred 3 blasts this time. We have 1 frostie.

Talked to my RE. We are gonna try for IVF asap which is 6 months after delivery, so mid-April. I need to do my diagnostice stuff before that so I have to get my cycles going again. So, I'm gonna talk to the pediatrician on Monday about how to stop lactating. I hate to quite b/c Evie is so healthy and I have such a good milk supply but I would rather her have a sibling than an extra few months of breastmilk.

Good news -- the RE said that my frostie was good (he gave my frostie a B+) and said it had a 25% chance.

Evie is still eating every 3 hours more or less. I get so tired. DH sent me to bed at 8:30 last night and watched her until I woke up at about 11:30. That was great, deep sleep. Still, I'm really looking forward to the point where she can sleep 5-6 hours in a row. Sounds like some of you are already there!

Hey ladies, Happy weekend!

Mellie- I think we will be soon after you for visiting the RE. I will call them in the summer, If we do another cycle next year, I would like it to be in October, so I can deliver at the end of the school year, Are you doing a FET with one embryo? I don't know much about FET's. We decided not to freeze this past time because we just didn;t have the money, so when and if we go again it will be a fresh cycle and the last one insurance will pay for. Hopefully Evie will give you some good sleep soon. How much does she weigh? It should be coming soon, they say 3 months/12 lbs, but Ella started sleeping longer much earlier, I was lucky.

Loopie- Congrats on the smile...it is so awesome, isn't it? Amazing how the smallest things can just melt your heart, huh? Wait until he laughs...I was just about crying I was so happy!

Suga- Glad the 4 month went well. We have our 4 month on 12/26, and she will be starting solids then. I would actually be willing to start now, because she seems ready but our dr didn;t give us any info last time, so we will wait till the 26th so i can hear what he has to say rather than suggestions from family members who think they know it all and the internet which varies too much in advice. That gerd sounds horrible, I hope it gets better as they get older. Ella spits up sometimes in her sleep, I have been putting down boppy changing pads underneath her so I don;t have to wash sheets everyday for one tiny spot of spit up.

Rio- Are you feeling better from surgery? Nice to get the time off, but stinks to not be feeling well or not able to get around much.

Tina- Good to hear from you, sounds like Ella and noah are on similar sleep schedules. Sometimes Ella makes it completely through the night, like last night, last bottle around 7:30/8:00, in crib by 9, woke up around 7:30 this morning.

Katie- Sorry to hear Parker has a little cold, hope he gets better soon. I am glad i haven't had to deal with ella being sick yet.

Jomae- I think I read that the drooling is a sign they are getting ready for solids. I know its normal, but it is gross and it scares me. Ella has choked on her own drool a couple of times.

Well, ella is well. As I said, she will start solids the day after christmas, i got her some gerber infant spoons for her stocking and will probably put on a couple jars of food too. I know she won't understand christmas this year, but it will still be fun to start the tradition. Of course dh and I will have to try and wait till xmas to open our gifts now that we have a baby, we usually can;t wait until christmas so it happens around the 23rd.

I got ella a bumbo chair the other day, does anyone else have one? I wanted something so she could sit up without anything behind her head. I am noticing she tilts to one side, because I think she spends too much time laying down. I try to give her tummy time, but when she lays flat, she just rubs her face and doesn't like it, so I am hoping the bumbo chair will help her develop her neck muscles better and help her flathead a bit. Her flathead seems to be better than at the last dr appt, but I am afraid now her neck is kinking from always looking a certain way from trying to fix the flathead. My mom says to just lay her on her tummy, even for sleep, but i won;t do it b/c of sids.

Ella is quite a wiggler in her sleep. I use a swaddler to swaddle her for bed and put her in the center of the crib. When I get her in the morning, she has sometimes busted out of the velcro swaddler and is all the way against the rails. She actually had her leg through a rail this morning, so dh is going to pick up one of those breathable mesh bumpers so that won't happen again.

Oh, one more thing, Are everyone's periods back to normal? I am getting my period again, and I feel like this is the second one since giving birth that is back to normal and it stinks. So much back pain, heavy, I forgot what this was like, it knocks me out for the first day. I have been on 800mg Ibuprofen for years for the menstrual pain, and I recently had to dig it out since I didn;t need it while pregnant....ugh

Michele: Welcome back to periods! haha I did not miss them either! Also, my uterus scar (on the inside) hurts too...weird. As for the bumbo, we have one and the girls love it and watch TV lol. My pedi just said that make sure they have pretty good head control in them. Do not let them lean their neck forward because that will hurt their spine. So if mine are tired they can not sit in there cause they put their head down to suck their hands. Mine lean to the sides at times but I just put them back up and they are fine. I let them do tummy time on the boppy and that seems to help a lot. They do not have to work as hard at it. I still make them do flat tummy time sometimes but not a lot because they need to learn to lift up their front part of their body and the boppy does not allow that.

I would say if your baby is showing signs of being ready to eat solids then go for it! I think you have to start on rice cereal though....so I have heard. Then veggies and fruits start at 6mo. I can not wait till Feb and we can do it! The doctor said we could start now if they seem interested but they are not. They are only 2 months really so I will just wait. Plus not as much to clean up after!

Brooke is getting a flat head on one side because she turns her head that way. She is still in the car seat so there is not much I can do about it. I now put a blanket (rolled up) there so she can not turn her head that way. She gets mad but it works.

I would say no to putting her on her tummy to sleep. The reason SIDS is more prevalent with that is because they are in such a deep sleep and can forget to breathe. So until she can roll over and whatnot I would say no tummy. That would scare me.

ALSO ladies, now a fan has been added to the list to have on to help prevent SIDS. I have a little fan in there to rotate the air around since we do not have ceiling fans. Just thought you might like to know this. I suppose it circulates the air better? Who knows. I just know it was added to the list.

The girls are now doing a 6 hour stretch! 10PM to 4AM! Woohoo! Now I just need that 9 hour one from 10PM to 7AM! I can not wait! So mine are getting there SLOWLY. Hopefully it will speed up here soon.

suga- do you have the tray for the bumbo? I was thinking about getting that to help her sit up better, and so she can have toys on there. I figure if I feed her in the bumbo chair, the tray will work well too. Also, I tried tummy time with the boppy last night, and she definitely tolerated that for longer than laying flat. Maybe I will push the boppy tummy time and progress to flat. Thanks for the advice.


I can't believe it, Ella is trying to roll over, she is very close, it might happen today. She is in her playpen and everytime I peek, she is pretty much on her side! Milestones everyday...amazing!

hi moms. parker likes to sit in the bumbo i discovered that the other day when I really needed to get ready and couldnt put him down. Tried the bumbo and it worked. I have got myself in trouble. We are in transition to move him from the pack and play in our room to him crib. He did great the first two nights. But the last 3 nights he has ended up sleeping with me.BAD HABBIT!! We are going out of town next fri-sun and then dh is off for 2 weeks so we will break it then when I have help. Also he has a cold and he is congested and its worse at night and I think that wakes him up.
Parker does sleep on his tummy I fought it at first but he really does sleep better. The only reason im ok with it is because he sleeps with a monitor under the mattress and if it doesnt detect movement for like 10 seconds an alarm blares. I will say that he doesnt sleep on his tummy in my bed. He actually sleeps im my arm or right next to me on his side or back. Last night we put him in his crib on his side and put a pillow waist down next to him so he would think he's in my bed. It worked for a while until he rolled and his ocean wonder toy came on it scared him and woke him up. So we scrached that idea.

He is a grump today really fussy. OH I am right there with you on the periods. I think mine is coming. It will be my first one. I didnt go to my doc appoint last week b/c it was cold and ended up snowing. If you can believe that. It NEVER snows down here it was crazy. I will call monday and reschedule. I was not about to take him out when it was that cold.

katie- I couldn't believe snow in houston when I saw it on the news. Did Parker get to see? I took Ella to the door for her first snow, but I know she will have many more opportunities living in CT, it was still fun though. I have one of those sensor monitors too. Does yours ever false alarm? Mine has a couple times, b/c she was in such a deep sleep, but I am still glad I have it. I have to keep her bedroom door shut b/c of the cats abd if I didn't have the sensor motion, I know I would be checking on her all night and probably waking her...so that monitor is one of the best baby items I have bought. I hope Parker feels better soon, poor guy!

Hello all! Good to hear we are not the only ones with a baby with a flat head. It has really worried us. Noah has one side flat from always tilting his head that way. I really hope he outgrows it when he gets older! Does it worry you for those that your babies have it?

Ok, so after sleeping through the night for all these weeks - BAM - Noah decided to stop. So...don't freak out if the same thing happens to you. I think it is a developmental thing and they become more aware of their surroundings at the 4 mos mark. We have had Noah sleeping in a bouncy chair - mistake #1 - and decided that since he was already going through a weird phase...why not throw it all out there and move him into the pack-n-play crib at the same time??? Oh wow - it has been a long few nights! He did much better last night and only woke up once...but the other nights he was waking up constantly. So weird! Anyway, one of the other girls on the Aug thread has been going through the same thing with her baby waking up constantly. I am sure it will get better...but just don't freak out if it unfortunately happens to you. I am sure it is just a phase - at least I HOPE!! I want my sleeping angel back!!!

Tina- the photobucket login is octmommies2b, password is eddoct. Looking forward to seeing some pics of noah. It does worry me about the flathead, because i know their ears can become misaligned too. I think we have done a good job at helping correct it by being vigilant about her being on her other side now. I guess the one good thing about having a girl in this situation is that she will most likely have long hair, so even if it doesn't completely fix, it probably won';t be very noticeable. Even thought the flathead seems to be fixing a little, now I am worried about her next development. She definitely favors looking one way and has a head tilt, because we have been making her lay on one side to try and fix the flathead. Now I am trying to just make her spend a lot less time on her back, either through tummy time or in the bumbo chair, so there is no pressure on her head at all. I will be glad when she has a little bit more head control b/c then she can play in her activity bouncer too. I think she is getting close to that stage.

Ella opened her first official christmas present today. We went to visit an aunt that I wanted to make sure we saw for christmas, and since we have so much running around to do, we went early. I took a couple of pics, I will post one. Even though she doesn't understand any of it, it is still fun. I helped her open it and I said, "Look Ella, it's exactly what mommy wanted you to have!"

Well..bath time..how are you guys doing baths at this point? Sponge, sink, baby tub or big tub? I wonder when she will be ready to move to the big tub, I have a feeling when we make that move, we can also make bath time a bit more fun, right now it just functional, not much room to play in the baby tub. We put the baby tub in the sink, but no room for toys.

Mellie- wow you're going for it- I think the stopping lactation can be a bit painful as you'll get engorged, but I am sure the docs have a good way for you to address it all. Are you using any formula with Evie?

Michele- great that Ella starts solids soon- I know all the info is mixed, but a book I have on making your own baby food states that cereals and fruits/veg can be introduced at 4 mos - just really pureed. I have heard of plenty of different things on timing for food- in fact my Mom told me that she started me on rice cereal in the evenings when i was only a week old! said i slept through the night right away not sure it's the best idea- and i'm not doing it - but I'd like to try cereal at maybe between 3-4 mos.
oh - and no period yet i think i should not have one for a while as we are bfeeding and doc said should stay away

Jomae - How did the shots go with Katie. I hope she didn't have a reaction. Any update on your thyroid?

Sugabeanz - Glad the girls checkup went well. I am so anxious to start Declan on rice cereal but my doctor said to wait until 4 months. I am really hoping that tit will help him to sleep through the night.

Loopie - I hope you are soaking up those baby smiles!!!! They just get better and better. Declan LOVES to be naked so I get lots of smiles during diaper changes. Hmmmmm wonder what that means?!?!

Mellie - Congrats on your upcoming cycle!!!! I am so excited for you!! I hope you will keep us posted. My DH actually spoke about having more children this weekend. It is still in the abstract though and we have no plans yet. I am just happy that he is thinking about it.

Michele - I am so happy that Ella is starting solids. Please let us know how she likes them. I looked up the bumbo chair after reading about you using it and want to get one. My baby is not quite holding his head up yet, though so I don't know how well it will work for him. I would imagine in a few weeks though, things will be different. Also, no period for me yet. I am pumping still and even though I only get about 5 ounces a day I guess it is keeping my period from starting again. I will have to stop pumping soon though since I am going back to work and can't leave my classroom in order to pump anyway. I am going to slowly stop by reducing pumpings over the next few weeks and see how it goes.

Katie - I can't believe it snowed in Texas!!!! Isn't that unusual? I hope Parker's sleep gets better.

Tina - Declan did the same thing as Noah with the sleeping. Except that Declan is only 2 1/2 months old. My doctor suggested it may be a growth spurt. Since the waking at night has lasted more than a week, I am afraid that it is now a habit. I don't want him to be hungry, but I don't want him to get used to eating in the night if he doesn't need to. Let us know what happens with Noah.

We are all doing well. DH has been home on vacation since last Tuesday and it has been heaven! It is really nice just to be all home together and it is sure easier to care for Declan with us both here. My birthday was last week and that was nice too. I am looking forward to the holidays, but sad that I have to go back to work right after. At least DH is going to be home all of January. We are both getting nervous about day care, but don't really hae much of a choice right now. We are thinking about moving to a more affordable area so that I can quit working and be a stay at home mom. If we have another child, I think we will HAVE to move as we just can't manage daycare for two. I would love to stay home, but am afraid of being away from all my family and friends not to mention not teaching. I have been teaching for 20 years so that would be a hard adjustment. Ah, decisions...... I guess that change is the joy in life! It will be interesting to see what happens.
