Hey guys
Good to be on the other side with you all thanks rio for setting up the thread i'm looking forward to sharing all our mummy moments good and bad with you all.

l've posted on our old thread to Mbre to wish her luck so Mbre if your only looking here I hope things have progressed and your now a mummy i cna't wait to read your birth story.
Lets make sure we keep lending our support until Mbre is ready to move over also

I've been in hospital with Katie for the last two nights the 2nd night home after having Katie i had ds up the hospital with a high temp and vomitting which turned out to be ear infection in both ears and a throat infection aswell as getting his two back molars anyway monday night Katie started gettign really congested and was struggleing with her breathing so up to the hospital we went almost 6 hours later we were seen and she was tansferred to a neighbouring hospital for monitoring after two nights a lot of nose sucking and oxygen monitoring we came home today and are finally getting some rest mind you dh and i also have the cold aswell now but otherwise ok

I had katie checked at the community health clinic on monday and it turns out she's even lost weight on formula so i have to keep her on three hourly feeds and seeing how shes going if she's still nbot gaining i think she'll be refered to a pediatrician to look at her tongue tie and to see if this is affecting her sucking enough to need surgery

oh to top my week of when i had ds at the hospital they tell me he has a heart murmur so we have to book an appointment with a cardiolagist to see if it's an abnormality or not.

anyway glad to be posting here with you ladies and welcome any other mummies who wish to join us your all welcome

JOmae - I am so sorry to hear about DS and Katie. I hope they are both feeling better soon and that there is no heart issue.

Well, I was up in horrible pain at 1 am and had to go to the ER, ends up my gallbladder was distended and it seems I passed a stone. I was crying in pain and couldn't even bfeed bean. I feel better now but have to go for more tests tomorrow and consult with surgeon, I really hope I don't have to have surgery! :( bean is doing great and I am on pain killers...

Jomae: Sorry to hear about that....that stinks. Let us know how it all goes!!

Rio: Holy cow! Glad you are better though! Sheesh! Can someone not have a bad experience happen to them with these beans?! Thanks for setting up this thread! Hopefully we can all keep coming on here and know how each other is doing!!!

Girls have an appt. tomorrow I will let you know how that goes. I hope they do not have to put Brooke on Added Rice because she is still spewing at least once a day. Hopefully she is still gaining enough weight to where that does not happen. Brooke has outgrown Newborn diapers!!! Mackenzie is not far behind her! She is just taller and not as round in the tummy area. So weird how fast they grow! I need to remember to take these moments in and enjoy them instead of wishing them older.

hey girls
i think we've finally had the third unlucky event when katie and i got out of hospital yesterday i noticed ds had a slightly splotchy face but didn't think too much more about it as he was in the car and i thought he was probably just a bit warm anyway got home put him to bed when i checked on him he again was so hot with a temp again i noticed later when changing him that he now has a fine rash over his belly ,back back and face so off to the doctors again hopeing not to wait too long as i was so exhausted it turns out he now has a virus cold and the rash is just one of the symptoms so i'm now waiting for katie to follow suit and get the same rash i just hope she doesn't get the fevers as you can't give them anything yet

Rio you poor thibng i've heard gall stones are very painful what did you do with bean when you couldn't feed him.

suga it doesn't matter how old they get there always something you wish they would grow out of i know i'm just hanging out for ds to grow out of the terrible twos. Katie has finally grown out of her 00000 suits and her 0000 's won't last long either holding her i can notice she's putting on some chop i'll be weighing her again on monday so we'll see how she's going and hopefully it's a positive result. i'm hoping Brooke also gets a good report and doesn't need anything extra to help her does the added rice just go in her formula

Mbre hopefully no posting means your a mummy can't wait to hear

take care all JOMAEXXX

Jomae: GOSH! I hope everything is ok! Get the baby well soon! Sheesh! Now you deserve a break!!! And yes, you just add rice to the milk but I do not want to do that because I have heard of babies aspirating on that.

Mbre! Come join us here! Let us know how it is going!

Hi mommas!

Jomae-wow some week you've had! I hope everyone gets to feeling better very soon- I can only imagine what a tough time you must be having!

Rio- hope you're feeling better- stones are terrible!! Dh has had kidney stones and they just suck!

Suga- those girls are grow grow growing- keep up the good work and let us know just how much they weigh!

ok- glad to be back on- seems since we've been home, we've had tons of guests, so the moments we get alone involve bfeeding, sleeping, or eating not even time to check emails.
Finally - a moment to catch up with you all- I've missed you!
So- went in on Friday 24th for the NST, my fluid was low, so they decided to induce- came home, picked up Dh and headed back to the hospital. at about 3pm, they checked me out- 1.5cm dilated and put some pill in my cervix to soften and start things - we got settled in and about 7pm, they checked again and put another pill in.
I got a little rest and about midnight- contractions jumped right in at 5 minutes apart - by 2 am Saturday, they were 3 min apart and pretty painful. I really wasn't sure what was going on or how fast things were happening because the docs had told us that it would probably take until Sunday for the induction as i started at 1.5cm w no contractions, and they were using the slowest drugs - by about 3am, I was in serious pain- contractions with no break, and the monitor was not reading them, so the docs were not aware things were progressing so rapidly- and DH kept trying to reassure me they knew- finally a nurse came in and was like - um- wow- and went to get the docs -
DH called our birth companion, and by 3:30 1minute apart and I needed an epidural, but was starting to fear I'd not have time if they didn't hurry as I was already feeling compelled to push - about 4am, the anesthesiologist finally gave the epi- which worked fabulously- I was still aware of the contractions and need to push, but pain was subsiding- Dh and Birth Companion -one on either side, we began to push, my bloodpressure was very low- like 80/30, so they were a bit worried put me on an oxygen mask and some sort of Blood pressure meds via IV - baby was doing ok, but his hb started to fluctuate, they put the monitor on baby's head- kept pushing, and at 6:33am Saturday the 25th - Pulman arrived weighing in at a whopping 5lbs 9oz!!!. Dh and BC were awesome!
Pulman had a bit of a high Biliruben level and was slightly jaundice - so he was on a bili blanket- basically he was a little glow worm. He had bumped his head a bit coming out and had some bruising which raised his red blood cell count.
We came home monday evening with the bili blanket and he's doing great!
bfeeding is going well and we're getting to know one another - I was pretty nervous about being a mom, and worried about being able to take care of him once home -The nicest thing one of the nurses said to me was that if there was anything to be concerned about, they'd not let us go home- whew!!!
So for the last 5 days - lots of friends and family visiting- tiring but great
I will put some pix up tomorrow (I hope) - Pulman is long and lean with gigantic feet.
-more to come-

xxloopie

rio- thanks for setting up the new board!! STAR!!!!

ok- sounds like someone needs to eat
 see you soon!

oh- and 1 more thing about the birth- about a minute or 2 before he came out, all of a sudden, I felt this crazy burning - like the docs were pouring acid on me and baby's head - I yelled WTF!!! and they told me that Pulman was crowning- holy cow- it really felt like hot burning liquid- soo weird! -and something no one ever told me about!!!!!
They tried to give the scissors to Dh to cut the cord, (I knew he didn't want to do this) and we were both like- umm, no thanks- he's not so good with blood and such- but did an amazing job with the screaming and groaning (and a bit of chewing on his sleeve -heehee)
I, on the other hand, am very interested in medical stuff, so when the placenta came out- I asked the doc to show me (sorry if TMI!!) - interesting for sure- it too was small

it took us until Monday to actually name him- kind of needed to see what he looked like - he's sleeping on my chest right now- pretty handy that he's small so I can use the laptop

we have a doc appt this morning to see if he's gained any weight- hope so!
 :D
when does the umbilical stump come off? they said we can't give him a bath until it does -
we've not circumcised him yet- still not sure if we will - but we have a little time yet to decide- hubby really doesn't care, my Dad is sort of pissed that we might not do it- docs say it doesn't matter and is cosmetic pretty much, so at this point- it's a wash- however- all of my friend's who have all had boys in the past year or so (weird right???) have circumcised them, so it may be a matter of Pulman looking like his friends more than anything else if we do decide to do it -

hope all the mommas and babes are doing great- I may throw together a quick Halloween costume for Pulman- it is my favourite holiday after all! Ok- pix, but must use the desktop- grrr

hugs to all!

Loopie, congratulations! What a great story. Sounds like there weren't too many complications, except the blood pressure stuff.

Jomae - wow have you had your hands full. I hope things are better for you and the family now.

Rio - thanks for putting this new thread together. The name is perfect! :D

Sug - We started on rice cereal yesterday because of reflux. And they gave us a prescription for Zantac. I am hoping this does the trick. Abby has really been struggling, especially at night, which I think is strange. She sleeps peacefully during the day. I've even had her sleeping in her bouncy seat the last couple of nights to keep her upright. I started on the rice cereal this morning and after the first bottle, it didn't really seem like it helped. I feel so sorry for her. She seems so uncomfortable.

In other news...she's 5 pounds 12 ounces! I can't believe it! We are almost out of the preemie clothes and into newborn sizes. And we met with the surgeon. It looks like she won't have her intestines reattached until February. They want her to be big and strong, which is fine with us. Oh shoot...gotta run. She's yelling at me!

Congratulations Mommies!

Corny: Glad to know there is someone else on rice. They just said NO NO NO in the NICU but it seems to be helping a little here. I put 2 tsp in 90cc (otherwise it gets too thick for her). It seems to be helping so far. If she needs to be bumped up in rice I will but for now I just want to do a little. Also, she sleeps longer at night! I am thinking of adding it to Kenzie's at her night feeding so I can get some more sleep! lol. If it is ok for Brooke it is ok for her!

I am glad she gets it off in Feb!!! I know you are not happy about another surgery but this should be the last one!!!

Loopie: Nice story! LoL! The most uneventful out of all of us I thinK! Congrats! Sorry about the crowning...that is odd. I would have asked to see the placenta too haha.

Jomae - I am sorry you are all ill. That has to be really hard! I am barely holding my head up with one healthy newborn. I hope you have some help right now. Take care.

Rio - Thanks for getting this thread started. What a bummer to have to deal with galbladder/kidney stones while you are recovering from your c-section. I am keeping my fingers crossed that you won't have to have surgery. Keep us posted.

sugabeanzs - Does adding cereal to their bottle help them sleep longer? Or is is just to help keep food down?

loopie - Your induction sounds like it went perfectly!!! Hooray for you. I am glad it worked like it should. I hope Pulman's biliruben goes down quickly. Declan had jaundice too. I guess a lot of babies have it. It passed quickly for us. I hope he gains weight quickly. As for the umbilical stump, Declan's fell off in about 10 days. It didn't seem to bug him at all. Also, we did get him circumsised. We weren't sure what we wanted to do and there are pros and cons to either decision. We just thought that it would be better to look like his peers.

Corny - I have been checking your blog and have to say that the entry about your first day alone with Abby was hysterical!!!!! I loved it - probably because I live it daily!

So Declan and I are on our own for 9 days!!!! DH has his regular shift and then a week of training and won't be home until next Friday. It is soooooo hard to do this all alone. It is especially frustrating at night when there is no one to help me with the midnight feedings and breast pumping. Family and friends have offered to help, but mostly they just want to come over and socialize. It isn't all that helpful. Anyone else tired of well meaning visitors? Today is the first day in over 16 days that I don't have visitors coming by. I am so excited to just have the day alone with my son. Oh, and did I mention that he slept for almost 5 whole hours in one stretch last night? Yippee!!!!!!!!!!! I hope it is the new trend.

Mbre - I am worried about not hearing from you! Are you ok? Please let us know how you are doing.

Take care mommas.

gecko: The rice helps it be thicker and helps them keep it down. The added bonus is that they sleep longer at night cause they stay fuller longer.
