Sorry to hear of your breastfeeding troubles. I had them too and was making too little milk for my Odinn 10 days ago and now things are much better since i saw a lactation consultant and started doing a few key things.

1) pumping every 2 to 3 hours to stimulate milk production. i found that Odinn was refusing the breast because there wasn't much milk in there. SOme kids will just gnaw away, but he was refusing because there wasn't anything in there.

2) Taking a herb called Fenugreek which stimulates milk production. Read more about this supplement at Kellymom.com a great breastfeeding site. I now take 8 capsules of Nature's Path Fenugreek in one day. I started slow because it can loosen your bowels. But I never had a problem with that.

3) I also have started eating oatmeal every day, since oats boost milk production. I also drink half a beer that's got malt, barley, or oats. Yes, my lactation consultant recc I drink beer!

4) I also make sure to hydrate properly. I just find I'm so v. thirsty as my milk production increased.

Hope this helps, and good luck! Lostgirl

Wow a lot has been going on!! First off, congrats to all the new moms!! WOOHOO!!!

Joame: Happy Birthday!!!

So sorry about not doing personals but I am a bit busy at the moment. Mom, grandma, and my sister are in town and we have been go go go! But I will keep it short...Brooke had to go to the doctor yesterday and they sent her to the hospital. After she ate she would just have projectile vomits. So all in all, after the tests this morning, she has HORRIBLE reflux. When they were looking at her drink as soon as she got something in her belly it would try to come right back up. So there is nothing you can really do but they will outgrow it. At least that is all it is...nothing wrong with the tummy or intestines. Mackenzie has it a little but not as bad. Baby Wise was thrown out the window these past few days because of the vomiting and what not. So I have to start the schedule all over again. They are acting like newborns now though and stay awake after they eat! So I know they are ready to start somewhat of a schedule now that they are older. I also am joining a twins club here in Tallahassee so that will be nice. Anywhoo I have to go, they get their RSV shot here in a bit.

Lost Girl - Thanks so much for the tips. I am trying to pump every few hours, but am still only getting about an ounce each time and Declan eats twice that much. However, I refuse to give up and am hoping that I will start producing more. I am also using the "mother's milk" tea daily that is supposed to promote healthy lactation. I will check out my local herbal store for the fenugreek that you mentioned. I haven't heard about the oatmeal but have some here and will start eatig it. I guess getting some breast milk is better than none.

Thanks again! I am glad you are posting on this thread!

Gecko: There is also something called "More Milk Plus" which has all those ingredients in it you need. You take it like a shot...it tastes horrible but it helped mine come in a little. So I would try that.

HI all. Congrats to Abby coming home!\

I had a non stress test day as I am 39 weeks and 4 days preggo. Doc said baby is fine and shes weighs about 6.9 lbs. si if i wanted to go 2 weeks past my due date he would let me seeing that shes tiny... I think I will wait a full week past my due date and then talk induction. I really want to give my body a chance to go into labor on its own. I know the caserean rate goes up if u r induced when your body just isnt "ready" Since i have no conditions that warrant and induction i will just let Jurnei hang out in my womb a little longer... Guess she will be a mommas girl!. I have to say I am ready for this to be over but im just going to enjot the sleep i get now becuz when she comes i know things will be differnt! Funny how by the end we are sooo over this thing called pregnancy when 9 months ago thats all we wanted! now we want our creations!!

Katie, Loopie, & Jomae, are you guys still hanging in there? Or did u get to have ur beauties??

I'm still here!
as for BF- whatever works - Gecko- don't beat yourself up or feel in any way like a failure- it is difficult, and new, and you and Declan need to expect a learning curve! another good thing to eat is Fennel (anise bulb and seeds)
a great way to eat it is this recipe- can be eaten hot or cold mmmm mmmm!
Puree of Potato and Fennel Soup

slice and saute 1 fennel bulb in olive oil or butter until soft on med
dice up a few potatoes ( maybe 6 medium sized)
add potatoes and veg or chix stock (or H2O will work) to cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until soft.
add s & p to taste and puree until smooth - you can keep it vegan or what I like to do is add about 2-3 tbsp cream cheese and blend again- it is the yummiest soup and only takes a few minutes to prepare
enjoy!

ok- can you tell I'm still bumpin?
had a great day today, shopped, napped, dh & I walked over to a tapas rest. with porter the dog, and had a fab Bday dinner -

cheers!

Hi im officially a Mommy at 300 pm yesterday. Parker was 8lbs 4 oz 20 1/2". I definitly have story to tell. I will give the short version. I went to hospital on tuesday at 1130 pm because a Fell in kitchen REALLY hard. call the doc answering service and doc called and said to go ahead and go. I got here and baby is find but i was still relly sore. I landed on my butt but i think i tensed as I was going down and So i basically pulled muscles. It feels like I got kicked in the va gee gee. So They decided since I was a few days past and already on the list the next day they would keep me. It was really busy and I would have been told No at 5 am so it worked out. they started the induction at 6 and everyhting was good until about noon and I could all gthe sudden feel tghe contractions. It sucked it was partly my fault I didnt know I could push the button to get more epidural. So he was born at 3 pm I was in labor for only 9 hours not bad for first birth. After he was born thats when the crazyness started. I was bleeding really bad and they could stop it. They were pushing my tummy so hard to and trying to get any clots out. They finally had to bring doc back and he went in to try and figure it out and about an hour later I had 2 more stiches ( not much drugs my epi was long gone) all is well now the doc has me packed with gaus and he will take it out at 12 and if I can keep from bleeding profusly if not I have to go to the OR and get knocked out and they will have to figure out whats going on. CRAZY night and im on drugs so I know this is horrible spelling and grammer.

But on a positive he is nursing really well I cant complain about that. He is a pooping machine he has gone like10 times since he was born. I will post pictures asap

sugabeanzs/loopie - Thanks for the breastfeeding tips. I am willing to try anything if it means more milk. Loopie the soup recipe looks yummmy!

Katie - Congratulations!!!!!!! It sounds like you had a great induction and a fairly quick labor. Sorry about the fall though. I hope you are not too sore. I hope the post partum bleeding comes under control. It sounds a bit scary. Great that he is breastfeeding well! Keep us posted on how you are all doing.

loopie - You are in the final stretch!!!! Hang in there!!! Are you feeling well overall? I know at the very end, I felt such pressure in my belly. It lasted for about 4 days and then my water broke. Has the doctor given you any idea about when it may happen?

Mellie, Mbre - How you doing, ladies?!?! Keep us posted.

Jomae - I am hoping that you are holding your precious Katie as I type this! Post your birth story when you can. I can't wait to hear.

I can't believe that we are almost all delivered! What a year it has been. This holiday season is sure going to be special for us all, isn't it?

Yay to the new moms!!! WHo do we have left?? Hopefully everyone will have them here in the next few days!!!!

Well, the girls had their follow up eye doctor appt. They both passed so there is nothing wrong with their eyes! However, their appointment was at 2:30 and we were not seen till 4:00!!!! So they dilated their eyes then made us sit in another waiting room so I had to feed the girls. I only had enough in there for one so had to split the bottle. I was not anticipating being there long enough to go into their feed time. *sigh* So they will be starving at their 7PM feeding. Bath time tonight because they both spit up all over themselves.

Brooke got a blessing from Elder Newman and seems to be doing better with her reflux. I should have had them do one to Kenzie as well because hers was acting up today instead of Brookes! lol. Oh well.

Anywhoo, I was feeding them in the waiting room. Had them both in their car seats and feeding them at the same time. Well I was about to burp them both and was going to just do it at the same time. So took them both up into my arms. Well I was about to get Mackenzie and some lady just comes and picks her up out of her car seat and hands her to me! HELLO!!! I can do it myslf!!! Get your nasty hands off my girl! Why on earth would you touch someone else's child without asking?!?! This just made me beside myself. I was so surprised I did not even know what to say...WHO does that!? Made me mad because of all the germs they were already being exposed to at the doctor office *sigh* Stupid people. DO NOT touch my babies!
