Hey guys I am going to join this thread, thanks for starting it! I am 16wks and on bed rest until my next appointment in 2wks. I have bled through my whole pregnancy and they don't know why, so my dr. is getting concerned now. When I go back I will have a level 2 u/s so they can see things better. On a happy note we are having twin boys!! We are so excited!

Has anyone had an acid reflux at all? I have had so much and thankfully I can take something for it but it really bothers me sometimes. Hope you all have a good day!

Hey Crogers, welcome!! To answer your question I had terrible heartburn for three days last week and was told tums would be ok to take. I took two and the heartburn hasn't come back since. Could have been a fluke but who knows.
So you bled through your whole pregnancy? Has it been bad? We had a little scare this morning but after a quick scan he said everything was fine. I don't need to mention that I'm completely freaked out though.

Jen-Sorry your cervix is not cooperating with you. I've heard that is very common with multiples. I'm worried that will happen to my surrogate. For some reason her OB only is wanting to see her once a month, so that makes me worried for when she reaches 20-30 weeks. She's 15 weeks now, her next appointment will be at 18 weeks. She is also seeing a Peri who also only wants to see her every 4-6 weeks. Hopefully I am worrying for nothing. You are right, I look at other women who are as far along as you, and I feel like it will be FOREVER before we get there!!

Silverangel-Yes, my surrogate had her symptoms coming and going constantly throughout the first trimester. One day her boobs would be very painful, the next few days they would be just normal. It never made sense to us either. Some days she was very sick, others not so much at all. Your heartbeats sound great! I'm sure you are so excited!! Yes, we do have a surrogate. We decided to go that route because I have chronic epstein barr virus (mono). I just turned 30, and I have had it 3 times in the last 7 years. The last time I had it was in October of last year. I finally am fully recovered over the last few months. The doctors told me that if I were to get pregnant I would probably have a major relapse after the baby's born. So I opted to just not get pregnant myself. We had regular fertility issues as well. So I thought this was my best option. It has been hard not being in control and not knowing how she is feeling, but it has been all worth it. The first trimester was the worst because whenever she told me she wasn't sick anymore, I would go into panic mode. LOL. It was the worst. She's 15 weeks now, so I really don't worry anymore about her symptoms which is a blessing for sure! Looking back now, I realized I shouldn't have been so worried about her symptoms coming and going. I now realize that is completely normal.

Hi everyone - I wanted to say hello and join in on the fun. I know some of you from other threads but this one seems just up my ally.

I am pg with twins!! And we are starting to get excited. We find out Monday what we are having. We are pretty sure on is a girl from the last u/s but the other was not behaving. We see the peri and get the 3d monday so YEAH for that.

At first I did not want to celebrate or even really get excited. I was a bit worried that I was infact depressed. But I think I just need time to realize that this time is for sure. My DH is happy that I am happy now.
And to be honest its fun to be excited. I have had a very easy time really the only down fall is the acid reflex which many of you are having as well.

For those of you on bed rest take it easy and I hope you are not having to hard of a time. Someone mentioned to get things done early!!! Great advise. I am going to take it. In fact we planning on registering next weekend to get it out of the way.

Well I am off to eat lunch I am starved.

Gennessa- good to see you on here! I think that is smart to register early. We have picked out our cribs and other furniture for the bedroom and I have narrowed down the bedding. With all that is going on with me I feel that I should get it done early in case I have to be on bed rest for the entire time.

SilverAngel676- The bleeding was pretty bad for a while but this week since I have been resting is just the old blood coming out. I really hope it disappears and I can go back to normal activity or moderate. I feel that I am not being productive but I really can't be right now. I need to caught up on reading.

hi ladies...i would like to join the thread as well if i may. i was overjoyed to find out twins, and like someone else on this thread said, i think God gave us two or more cuz he thought we could handle them!!

My EDD is 4/6, but prob more like 3/17 with twins...i will be having my 1st ob intake on tues, wondering if they'll set up the NT scan, send me to a high-risk doc, etc? My gyn will become my ob, and i'm hoping she'll make more time for me now that i'm no longer just a pap/pelvic patient. on my last u/s, the hbs were kinda high - 200 and 159 at 8 wks...i think one of the baby moved during the scan, so hopefully, their little hearts are okay! Its funny how we want everything to be in perfect range!

silverangel, jenniferdp, siouxsie...i remember ur names from april babies! anyway, i'm glad to have found this forum and look forward to sharing the next few months with you all :D

Genessa-that's great that you found out early that you may be having a girl. What week did you see that? Just curiuos because at our 14 week ultrasound we were told it looks like a boy and a girl. They were pretty sure about the boy, and 80 percent sure of the girl. We are so excited, but will find out for sure at our 18 week ultrasound if they are in the right positions. I was like you, I didn't want to celebrate or get excited either at first. In fact, we just started getting excited the last week or two.

Crogers-we just ordered our cribs and changing table. Makes me kind of nervous, but we were so excited, we couldn't help ourselves. lol. Did you just pick out your cribs or did you actually order them? I don't want to jinx myself.

babyloves-Your babies heartbeats sound great to me. I have heard several ladies babies having very high heartbeats. I've never heard it's a bad thing.

Carisa- We found our furniture on JCPENNY.com and will have them shipped to a store close and we will pick them up. We did it like that so we didn't have to pay shipping which is nice.

I know talking about weight gain or weight in general is a touchy subject but I was just wandering what the normal is. I have only gained a pound and it worries me a little. I have had very little appetite since I have been pregnant but I am getting it back so maybe I will gain it now. Just curious.

Hi everyone Happy Friday!!! I need the weekend.
Oh Carisa it was my 14thwk appt too when they said high chance of a girl. I do hope we se everything on Monday. My mom and my MIL and Dh are all going together. I am mean my mom is cool but I am trying my hardest to involve my MIL as I am not as close w. her. Its hard I have a mom already. But I am trying

Crogers - WEIGHT is a bad thing right now.
I was doing so well I was not gaining to much and eating healthy well that is all down the drain. I have gained 14 pounds. But I guess that is ok the Dr. does not seem to be worried. The prob is I just dont like meat right now I dont know why but it makes me grossed out so I have been eating Chicken well now I am tired of chicken so its carbs carbs carbs. Which in turn turned in to pounds pounds pounds. but from what I read with twins the average weight gain is about 35-45 pounds.

Anyways speaking about food its lunch time for me.

Bye

Hi,
I've really enjoyed finding this thread, maybe you can fit us in...we are a big family in the making...triplets!
I would love to share experiences, worries and joys.
About the weight gain, I've just read a few articles pushing for "high density protein" diet, eaten in small portions. It seems that there is a correlation between weight gain and baby weight at birth...with women in the extremes of slim-obese having to be followed more closely by a dietician. I am 5'4", 177 pounds right before getting pregnant - which means I am overweight but shouldn't worry about that at this point - just reduce processed food and eliminate the cheap, empty calories sold at the fast food chains. What are the professionals telling you about that? I am curious...
Best wishes to all, we are very busy resting...

I'm so glad you guys have brought up the weight thing!! I also read that moms of twins should gain the most weight in the begining because it increases the babies weight in the end. The problem with me is I'm a very big girl to begin with and cannot safly gain 45 extra pounds without risking some very nasty pregnancy side effects (Diabetes, toxemia..ect.) I'm at a high risk for them already neing such a big girl so what does someone like me do?
Risk my health during pregnancy which will in turn hurt the babies? Or do the right thing by myself and risk not giving them what they need and having small babies?
This has concerned me more and more every day and I can't wait to speak to my dr. about it but I would like your oppinion too ladies.
This society doesn't seemed geared to very plus size women getting pregnant. (Clothes are hard to find, nutrition is almost impossible)
I'm 8 weeks 4 days today and have already gained 9 pounds. I'm trying to cut back the calories until my first OB/GYN visit on the 19th but it's difficult trying to keep the balance.

Hi Ladies -

So glad to have found this new thread as I just found out yesterday that DH and I are having twins which are due at the end of April. We are over the moon excited! I am really interested to see what you all have to say about weight gain/ diet/ etc. as I too was wondering how things change now b/c I am having twins. In the meantime, I am just trying to eat as healthy as possible w/o empty calories.

My babies' h/bs were both 120 yesterday and they were measuring on track for their due date. Not sure when the next scan is.

Thanks again for being a good resource and I look forward to sharing the next 8 months with you ;o)

After reading all the post of what everyone else is going through concerning weight I came to a conclusion that all of our bodies are made up differently and if we are trying to be as healthy as possible then are bodies are doing what they need to do. For example today for breakfast I ate a big bowl of cereal and for lunch had roast, potatoes and hot rolls. That is a lot of calories in my lunch but I don't think it was a horrible meal. I don't know I just want my babies to gain weight and not be under weight when they are born. The worry has already started!!!! Yikes!

I wish everyone a great week and hope you all feel great!

Hi everyone, I'm glad I found this board also.
We're having twins aswell and I have put myself on bedrest, why?
Because I've been through so much with previous natural pregnancies
ending, one at 21 weeks, her heart just stopped and one eptopic. I'm not on full blown rest but I try to take it easy alot during the day.
I'm plus sized aswell and I don't know what to do because my husband is Mexican and we love to cook mexican food which is so darn good but so darn fattening.
Also did anyone ever hear of one twin lagging behind? My twin b seems to be like a week apart from twin a. Will they catch up eventually. Bbay a's heart beat is also beating faster than b's..I'm scared...I hear my bed calling...lol.
Anyway good luck ladies and congrats :D

Hey there every one. Just wanted to report on how we're doing. After thursday's scare with spotting(which never came back after that first day) we went for our visit at the clinic today and I'm happy to say that both the babies are just fine. They are measuring right on schedual, 8 weeks and 6 days today, and both their heart rates where a strong 174bpm.
But the best of all: WE GOT TO SEE THEM MOVE!!!!!!
It was the most thrilling expirience of my life. The tech started to look at baby B (which I've been worried about more than baby A because he/she is harder to see) and right there in front of our eyes the baby gave us a little wiggle.
I was so shocked and asked the tech if the baby had just moved and she said "Yeah. That was a little twitch."
I asked my husband if he saw it and he had a huge grin on his face.
B kept moving the whole time. It was amazing.
Then she moved to baby A and as she was measuring, that baby gave us a wiggle!!!
I cried histerically for about 5 minutes.
To see my babies moving and showing that they're alive, healthy and thriving is the best form of comfort and reassurance that I could ever ask for. These babies are so realy to me now and I just can't believe how much I love them.
We graduated from the clinic as well today. Our OB/GYN appt is on the 19th. The longest span that I'm not going to see them in till now. So please excuse me if I get impatient in the almost 2 weeks to come.
