Hey ladies. I know we already have a thread called "double trouble" and all the ladies on there are great. But they've all had their babies for the most part so I thought it would be cool to start a new thread for those of us expecting mulitples next year.
The due date for our twins is April 14th '09, but the doc said that twins usually come 3 weeks early so I guess that would put us somewhere in the end of March.
I'm hoping to go as full term as possible and as natural as possible. (Someone remind me that I said that in 61/2 months when I'm so big I'm ready to pop and just want them out....lol)
Hi Silver Angel:
Great idea to start a new thread! I will let you know Wednesday if I can join the thread or not. Hope everyone is having a great Holiday weekend.
Kim
Yes, I have seen two heartbeats, which qualifies me to join this group. Thanks for starting it. I have a due date of 4/16/09. My first OB Gyn appt is on 9/9 at night after work.
How have you all been feeling? Are any of you getting the CVS test or amnio?(sp) I will be 36 when I deliver the twins, so I think it is wise for me to get one of them.
Hi ladies,
I will join you too. I actually have a gestational carrier (surrogate) who is pregnant with twins!! Yippee! She is actually going to be 15 weeks tomorrow. The due date is Feb 24 of next year, but of course she will most likely deliver earlier than that. My husband and I are so excited! I talk to her all of the time, she is a friend of mine. Since she is farther along than you I would be glad to answer any questions you may have of her experience so far. She was VERY nauseas from about 6 weeks until 10 weeks or so. Then it went away, but is still hanging in there only at night. I'm not sure why. We found out last week at the 14 week ultrasound that it looks like it is probably a boy and a girl.
Have any of your OBs said anything about future bedrest? Or are they just going to see what happen when the time comes? Just curious because her OB seems kind of laid back about it all and that makes me nervous. I don't want these babies coming too early.

Hey ladies, I was just reading some of your posts. I just delivered my twins almost a month ago at 30 weeks. But I just wanted to respond to Carisa...most OB will not put people on bed rest unless something is wrong or the cervix starts to shorten. Is she seeing a perinatologist as well? My peri was more laid back than my OB. But my water broke at 30 weeks after being on bed rest at 20 weeks. But my little girl was sitting very low in the pelvis causing all the problems.
Congrats on all the pregnancies of twins! They are wonderful! I think this is a great idea for you all to go through the pregnancy together because Double Trouble is a lot of moms who already had their twins (even though they are great ladies! love em) Good luck on all the pregnancies as well and hopefully there are no complications.

Yes, she is seeing a Peri and a regular OB. Her OB is pretty relaxed about everything, which of course makes me crazy after all we have gone through to get these miracle babies. I have not spoken with the Peri so I don't know how relaxed or uptight he is about everything. I don't know, maybe I'm being overly paranoid here. I just don't want the babies coming sometime in the second trimester.
How are your little ones doing? You must be so excited!! Congratulations to you.

Hi! I'm going to join in. We're having twins and so far our due date is April 20th. I am 7wks1dy and we heard the heartbeats today they were both 118. Is that okay. Shouldn't they be faster by now???
I'm a bit worried.

Carisa: They are doing great! Hopefully they will be home in a few more weeks so I am getting excited! Yes, IVF babies are all our miracle babies and I think we worry more than "normal" pregnant people!
Congrats to all the new (soon to be) mommies!

First of all, congratulations on your twins!! I remember how excited I was when first hearing of the twins and thier heartbeats. I think your little ones heartbeats are just fine. I have heard lots of women saying thier babies heartbeats were in the mid teens early in the seventh week. If your OB didn't seem worried then I'm sure you are just fine. Also, the fact that they both had the same heartbeat tells me that things are just fine. Mine both had the same heartbeat too early on. I'm sure at your next ultrasound they will have picked up.
When is your next ultrasound??

Hello ladies, sorry I haven't been on in a while. The nausea, insomnia and fatigue are kicking my butt. My boobies don't hurt too bad anymore though, which I guess is a good thing. Any one else in the same boat at all? One sympton fading while others are going berzerk?
Just to update, we're 8 weeks along today and had our 3rd U/S this morning and the babies both look great. Their heart beats are doing very well, baby A is 164bpm now and baby B is 173bpm and we're all measuring at 7 weeks 6 days. The doc said that at this point she gives us an 85% chance of making it to the 3rd trimester and she's a self admitted conservitive so we're very happy to hear that.
carisa: Wow! A surrogate! Do you mind if I ask why you had to go down that road? The choice must have been tough. Not to mention trying to find someone suitable to carry your babies!! I'm so excited for you, your hubby and your twins. I'm even excited for your surrogate.....lol. What makes me even happier is to hear that I might have some relife after 10 weeks? I hate to complain because I waited a long time for this, but I'm miserable.
jenniferdp: I think you'll be fine. At 7 weeks one of my twins was only 124bpm and it shot up to 164bpm now. If the dic wasn't worried don't you be either, you'll just drive yourself nuts.
LauraonLongIsland: Fist, congradulations on the babies!! So exciting isn't it? I could understand why you would want to have those tests done but I personally would not even consider having them done under any circumstances. Partly because I'm scared of them going in there with the babies or the needle for the amnio but mostly because I don't care if there's anything wrong. P.S: what clinic did you go to? We went to reproductive specialist of NY in mineola.
I'm crashing your thread! I am 27 weeks preggers with twin girls. Congrats to you all! Enjoy this time, it goes by sooooo fast! I remember when I was 7, 10, 15 weeks preggers and when I saw posts from people who were 25+ weeks I thought I would never get there fast enough!
I think Carisa brought up bedrest-- I am actually on bedrest due to shortening cervix. Around 8 weeks ago it was 5 cm long- perfect. About 6 weeks ago it was down to 3.5 cm where it stayed until last week. Now I am an 2.5 cm!! Yikes! I am really trying to take it easy, but it is so hard! I certainly hope that I don't have to go on hospital bedrest!
Do you girls want to find out what you are having? Have you thought of names? It's very exciting, and overwhelming at the same time. I'm convinced that God gave us twins because we can handle them!!!
My advice to you, get things done early (registering, preparing the nursery, etc) as you never know what can happen (bedrest, premature birth, etc).
Take care and I'm looking forward to checking up on all of you!!!!

Hey Jen, welcome and congrats on your girls. I'm sure you'll be just fine. As far as finding out the sex, yes we do. I think it'll be so much easier to get everything ready for them if we know what they are. I've never been much for surprises and there is NO WAY I can wait 7 months to find out.
as for names, here are ours for what ever combination we have:
Boy/Girl (Which we're hoping for):
Santino Joseph and Sophia Jennifer (We already have a Sarah Jade, so we thought it would be cute to keep up the "S J" theme)
Boy/Boy:
Santino Joseph and Tomasso Gabriel (Tomasso after my DH's dad, but we're gonna call him Tommy which is my husbands name)
I recognize a lot of your names from the April 2009 board, but I thought I’d also join you here.
Our due date is 4/21/08, but like all of you, it may end up earlier. Today is 7weeks. Yesterday’s ultrasound: twins, heartbeats 118 and 126. Next ultrasound: 9/9
Congratulations, sugabeanzs! Names?
LauraonLongIsland: We’re considering amniocentesis. (I’ll be 38 at the time of delivery; and because of elevated FSH, RE considers my eggs like those of a woman several years older than my actual age.) I would choose it over CVS because CVS has a higher potential rate of miscarriage. We won’t really decide about it until it gets closer. Our HMO has a genetic counselor so we’ll talk to her first. In particular, I want to ask her how it works with twins. We will do the First Trimester Screening (FTS), which is just a blood test so there’s no risk to the babies. Personally, I think it’s good to know. There are a lot of things to prepare if you have a special needs child.
jen8675309: Congratulations! I would like to know the gender, but health is most important, of course. DH is a little scared of having 2 boys because he thinks it would be a real handful. I’ve heard that older fathers tend to have more girls. We do have some names in mind, but I’m too superstitious to announce them yet.
