Regarding assisted hatching, we used it on our third and fourth cycles, and the fourth cycle was the one that was successful. It's usually used for older women, though - my wife was 37 - because their eggs sometimes have thicker shells. The only downside I know of is an increased chance of identical twinning.

Regarding the risk of triplets, if you are comfortable with selective reduction, that can help reduce the potential for complications; however, it's a difficult decision and it's not for everyone.

Also, does your cilnic freeze embryos and do they have a good record with that? If you have more good embryos than you want to transfer, freezing the extras is a good option. Frozen embryo cycles are much less expensive than full IVF cycles.

HI CA
I am in Monterey County and had a really good clinic here. My husband has low motiity and count. We did ICSI, Ihad 7 eggs, 4 mature, 4 fertilized were very good quality and we transfered all 4, 3 day embryos.
One gave us the BFP and a gorgeous little boy, healthy as can be. I got a clean bill of health when it came to fertility. I think it obviously does help if there are no issues with you but you never know in this crazy IVF game. We were very fortunate to get a BFP but we also gambled and put in 4. We will try again in about 6 mos for a sibling. I wish you the best of luck and a big fat BFP pn your first try. I hope my story encourages you that it can happen on the first try!!!! Baby dust!

riogirl: dang that realy courageous to attempt 4 transfers. I am scared to try that to get all 4 to attache. that is a huge risk. were you really scared? i bet knowing the outcome it's a blessing you had the courage to try that

i don't think they would let me try that, or do i have a say on howmany are transfered?

On all four IVF cycles, we transferred the three best embryos if there were that many. Sometimes there weren't.

On the fourth cycle, the one that finally worked for us, we transferred three embryos, which ranged from moderate to good quality. Two attached and showed up on the early ultrasounds, but one disappeared before showing a heartbeat.

The other was born last June and we now have a wonderful 7 month old girl!

CA- it is truly a gamble! Because you are younger I am not sure you should be that aggressive and transfer that many. I am not sure how I will approach this the next time around. It is a huge risk but if I had done 2 or 3 I might have gotten a BFN! It is such a touhg decision and the RE pushed for 4.

Yeah I see what you mean the risks. I wouldn't want to transfer 4 that seems really risky, but 3 even with the risks I am tempted. I really wouldn't want twins or triplets, but if that is what we had then I would be happy either way. I hear how twins/triplets are risky and especially triplets, but I'm hopeing age would be on our side and the main place I gain wait is in my belly. I don't really gain it anywhere else really. I don't know we'll have to cross that bridge when we get there because if we transfered 3 and we had triplets and something happened to one of them I would feel awful and that is a lot of babies. I wouldn't know where to start with 3 babies at the same time. I do know that we probly won't be able to do ivf again though. We are paying out of our pocket and so if we got a BFN I would wish every day that we transfered 3 so it's a gamble either way. I do know age is on our side so that makes me feel good. I would have lots of support with twins. First thing I would do is give my mom and MIL a key to our house to help us

I have lots of family and friends support that all live within 2 mile radius. I also hear how twins and triplets have emotional issues for not being independant. So needless to say I'm glad I'm not makeing the decision right now. Oh and I eat really healthy too.

I'm new the board. This is our first IVF cycle. All my preliminary workup were positive. My husband had a vasectomy so we are going for TESE. I'm very nervous and my h is still apprehensive about the whole thing. Anyone has any advise or info on what I can expect. I finished BCP and started lupron on 5d ago. I'm experiencing a lot of bleeding. Is this normal???? My MD said not unusual. javascript:emoticon(':?')
