Hi Ladies,

Sorry have been quiet, trying to recover from the flu and feeling sorry for myself. AF arrived when I had the flu, and I had to travels loads last week for work. Couldn't take any time off so I was completely drained out of energy. Am feeling much better this week (would be better if I didn't have to come in to work)!!!!

Couple of questions I wanted to ask:

We have seen our GP to discuss a number of things and according to her, once we are referred to the fertility clinic the waiting time on NHS is not generally that long. As far as my GP is concerned, they could even start treatment within 3 months of being referred. What do you all think, and what was your experience?

The other thing I wanted to ask you all was if you spoke to your bosses at work about what you were going through. Its just that we havent told anyone but family about our problems and we'd like to keep it that way. Its just that at work its sometimes difficult going off for appointments (which I've not had a problem with so far) without explaining. My manager has never said no, but he did ask what the problem was and at that point I said I'll tell him later. Now with my lap coming up and possibly taking a few days off to recover I feel like I should explain that I'll be taking fertility treatment. Also once I start treatment I may possibly be coming in a little bit late/ leaving a bit early..etc. Apart from that the emotional toll it takes sometimes affects the quality of work. I was thinking of telling him (in the strictest of confidence) about the fact the we're having fertility issues without going too much in detail. I was just wondering what you all did. Any ideas would be welcome. One of the things stopping me is that if he realises that I want a baby, would it change his attitude to my career progression?

Sorry to ramble on.....

Will do personals later.

Take care

good morning ladies.....

Becky - i guess everybody's body react differently... i just hope mine would be in the mild side..... now i have to run off and buy me some joggers or as what we call it here in the states, sweat pants or gym clothes hahahahaha.....

angel - i think you should tell your boss but in strict confidentiality.... i never had a problem telling my boss because first, she's a female, second, she had a hard time conceiving her only daughter too [13 years ago] and three, it wasnt a secret that ive been married for 8 years and still ttc.... she was very understanding and i just try to get my appointments very early in the morning so i could still work or that i tell her in advance for procedures that requires bedrest.... im sure your boss will understand... he might even had personl experience about it that you dont know.... sometimes, we just have to walk up and talk... you go girl... let us know what happened......

off for now... have a blessed day everyone..... talk to you all later....

xoxo,
Marsha

Thanks for that ladies,

While taking time for appointments hasn't really been an issue as such, I thought I may get some more support if I actually do tell him the truth in strict confidence. He may be able to understand why sometimes I have down days. I anticipate that it will probably be useful if he knew esp when we start our first IVF cycle. Your views are appreciated. Will have to talk to him next time I see him.

DH wants to wait and see where we would be on the NHS waiting list first. I think that we've already had over 2 frustrating year just with tests and consultations. :x :x I'm not happy to wait any longer. I'm of the view that we should have our private consultation this month and if all works out then have our first cycle soon after the results of my lap. Then if our NHS referral comes through (earliest will be end of this year) and if our first cycle has failed we can always go on NHS for the 2nd cycle right? What do you think.......am I just being too impatient?

Hi ladies

Just a quickie from me…I’m on evening duty at my work so I thought id pop in and see what you lot are up to!!

Lara – yes, I’m playing nurse again!! Haha….that will teach me for marrying someone older!! ;-) so sorry to hear about AF and your migraine! They’re both bad enough on their own, let alone together!! Hope you’re feeling better soon!

Jen1d – thanks for your well wishes. Did you find out whats happening about your AF yesterday??

Mars – thanks for your well wishes too. Woohoo for AF arriving and starting stimms. Hows it going??

Carolyn – hey hun, my grease buddy!! (yes, I watch it too!!) how have you been?? I can completely understand why you retired from the may/june thread to here and I’m sure the others understand too. Thanks for asking about the clinic visits….we’ve come up to see the LWC in Harley street and the assisted conception unit in the university college London (UCL). We’ve also got an appointment at st georges house in reynes park in june. I looked at hammersmith but they didn’t seem to have an open day or anything. Do you know any more about that?? Anyway, we’ve decided (after very long discussions) to have another go at oxford. Although there were certain aspects that we weren’t happy with, after looking at some clinics, it made us other aspects about oxford. So we’re gonna book in with them again with my may AF and then if this doesn’t work and we have no frosties (didn’t have any last time) then we’re definitely going to London for our third attempt. Phew, sorry for the long message. Anyway, how are your tests going?? I know some came back clear but have you had to do any more?? When is it you go abroad for work??

Aunty – hey hun, good to read you!! Glad the house is still going through ok and fantastic news about the fostering. That is brilliant!! Ooohh, do keep me updated once you’re settled.

Welshbugger – sounds like you had a very busy but fantastic weekend. Thanks for clearing your AF lateness up with me….lol….i was having a stupid moment!! Duh!! No signs of my af yet, thanks for asking. I phoned my clinic today just to make a couple of enquiries and mentioned that AF was late. She said its pretty normal and that a failed ivf can muck around with AF afterwards. She has however, asked me to do a hpt tomorrow morning and phone her. If its –ve she wants to speak to the DR to see if they can induce AF. Have you ever heard of that?? (I did take a hpt on Saturday evening, which was negative, but I didn’t tell her that. I thought I’ll do another one in the morning tomorrow and then let her know). So I’ll be very interested to hear what they have to say tomorrow (I didn’t actually phone up to get my af induced!! Lol)

Angel – as for telling your boss. I’m in a very similar boat to you and don’t know what to do. With my last ivf I had a different boss and she was great. I told her and it made my life so much easier (rather than lie for apps) etc. however, I was on a temp contract at the time so I’m sure she didn’t care too much as I only got paid for whatever work I did. Anyway, so I’m in a new job now and really don’t know whether or not to tell my boss. I don’t know what she’s like yet, she has no husband, no children and works lots. So I’m in a dilemma too. Shall be interested to hear what you decide. Good luck!!

That’s it for me guys….sorry for the long post and sorry if ive missed anyone!!

Hi Ladies

Please, please, please can I join back in? I've had a few very down weeks and feeling sorry for myself - just can't seem to pick myself back up. I have been reading but haven't been able to bring myself to post - don't know why? Cos all you ladies are so lovely.

We had our follow up consultation tonight from our failed FET, and we start again in August. Starting on 6 ampoules of Menopur instead of 4. He said I was a poor responder and my egg quality was not very good - I feel it is just another thing to battle against.

Sorry it has all been about me

I hope you will forgive the lack of personals - I will get back into the swing of things when I have caught up. (that's if I'm allowed back in  )

Hugs to all

Hey my friends!

I have missed you guys! Honestly I am trying to avoid the boards a bit while I am in limbo, I posted to "The Sisterhood" thread, and realized how much I missed you guys too!

All this medical stuff (excluding IVF) is just alot for my widdle heart to handle right now I guess. And I applied to be an egg donor, which I will hopefully get to help a deserving couple - so that'll be nice! I guess it's like always a bridesmaid- never a bride... those who can't have for themselves - give! So DH and I are excited about that, we are just in the begining stages...

It's gonna take me a while to get caught up, but I wanted you all to know that I am thinking about you!!!

Hugs and BIG ole' kisses to you all!!!

 Hi girls

As always work is mad so this is just a quick one

AF is still not here, don't know what is going on and just putting it down to different drugs on last cycle as i am usually so regular. We are also having trouble finding a hotel for the 15th and now the flight has gone up so might re organise for the 22nd or 28th May, this was we dont have to rush around and i would rather B get all my info and read it carefully to know the best way forward for us instead of panic reading. Just going to be patient and wait for af before booking anything.

Becky - I work in a Residential Unit for kids between the age of 12-16years. They have been neglected, abused, parents substance abuse so cant care for them etc etc and along with these things come behaviour problems. I am a Senior Social Care Officer in the Social Work Dept---sounds posh eh
Its B@@@y hard work and stressful but i love it. Spent the afternoon yesterday in the Panel (mini courts in England) getting a boy secured and our new kid is a nightmare, spends most of the time screaming abuse at the staff  Guess who was a F@@@ing Wh@@re yesterday, according to her  Back in on late shift tonight so she will be getting sorted out
What does everyone else work at???

Angel - I tod my boss and all the staff from the start as it was too stressful to keep it secret, everyone is great and they only talk about it if i want to. Good thing about boss knowing is she is great about time off.

Carolyn - Sending you a hug, hope your feeling better bud

Charlie - Welcome back, keep that chin up.

Love to everyone else

Hi Ladies

Very busy at work and been out the last couple of nights so not had much chance to be on here. Guy I work with has gone to get his car fixed so I can sneak on here in work hours!!!

Becky - If she said June cycle then I would assume that they will set you up to get going that month. Sure that they will send a letter to confirm. Why not give it a few days and then call back just to check. WHOOOO. You should be starting very soon. Much prefered the horse picture too. Hear that the episode tomorrow is a 'corker'. Not to be missed

Rachel - 4lbs. That is great. 11 in total. You are nearly at the stone mark. That really is a massive acheivement in a pretty short space of time. You should be well impressed with yourself. Hope AF is not being as bad now. We are not off to the parents this weekend as they have my middle sister there with her two kids and too jammed for all of us to be there at the same time. We are going to do a day trip out of London on Saturday if it is sunny and may be have a pub lunch. It is our wedding anniversary on Sunday but we will celebrate on Saturday as dh is in a golf competition on Sunday!!! Apparently weather is meant to be fab on Saturday in particular. Where is your caravan?

Shantala - so great to be able to chat about Grease. I thought that it was fair last week with the right couple going. She really sung well but looked stiff and robotic when she danced. We did not go to an open evening at Hammersmith. We were just referred by our gp and just went there at the start. If you have any questions about HH then ping me or post on the Hammersmith thread which we have for girls who have been there in the past

Jen1d - so sorry that AF is messing you around. Always happens when you least need it! May be worth investigating later flights/hotels as the sooner that you book the better deal that you are likely to get. Sorry that the girl is behaving like that - I am not sure how you put up with it. I would want to give them a good clip

Hey Charlie - welcome back. We all need time away too but you are very welcome to read - post - whatever works for you hun. Hopefully the change of drugs will make a big difference to how you respond

Marsha - how are you getting on with your jabs. Hope that you are doing ok and no side effects as yet for you. I felt a bit sore after EC but nothing too bad at all. Usually you can be a bit bloated if you get a good number of eggs but you are just happy that another hurdle is out the way so that helps with any soreness!

Mel - how lovely that you will egg share and offer someone else a chance. I think that more woman would do it if they understood even a little of what we go through. Good on you

Angel - I think that we all feel differently about telling our bosses. You have to make a call over how they will behave. I did not tell my old boss on cycle 1 and it was definitely an added stress. I did tell him when I had the 2 ops - but rather than giving details - told him it was girls stuff. At my new business, I told the main guy and he is cool but he has been a freind for 20 years and he and his wife faced m/cs between their daughter who is 9 and the one that is just 1 so I knew that he would understand. Really comes down to the relationship that you have with your boss. No idea on nhs as I am too old for that route to even be an option

Aunty P - great that you may be able to start fostering soon. I have always thought that offering the children a nice home and lots of love is a wonderful thing to do

Jackie - where have you been?

Gill - are you busy getting ready for Barcelona?

So I have been using the OPKs for 5 days. No sign of a line to show surge. I then need to have bloods done 4-6 days later and now stressing as my first trip for work is leaving next Wednesday and I don't want to run out of time! As for the cyst - will not know about that until the next scan which will be D2 (don't even think about that - gross  ). If it is gone then I may be able to start. If it is there then it will need to be aspirated. ARRRGGGHHH. It has all become too complex as have three trips for work in next month. No travel and then all comes at once just when I might start tmt. Cannot complain as good for ££££. Anyway I am trying not to stress out and take each day as it comes which is very hard for a control freak like me!!!!

Off out with a good friend this evening. Had 3/4 lots of tmt with own eggs and two lots with donor eggs from her younger sister - both tmts ended in m/c - last one was twins. How hard is that???? She is going to try again with Frosties. At least we will both be able to have a good chat together.

Middle of the week. Two days until the weekend. Plus a long weekend for the UK girls. YIPPPPEEEE

Love to you all.
Carolyn
