Hey Everyone!
Congrats on your boy, Daisy - what a fun surprise! PS - I hear you on the headaches being preferable to the bleeding! I am also going to try more water, although I usually drink quite a bit.
Julie - We are not finding out, either, until birth, when we meet our little sweet pea.
Well, I can feel the kicking and poking more than ever - and the rolling (which to me feel literally like summersaults) - these are my favourites. The actual movements feel clearer now - and less painful, more like jabs. I also feel the actual BH contractions more now. I think that the extra uterine aches and pains I was feeling before made identifying these other movements more difficult, but that has settled down now, and it is exciting to suddenly be reminded, in the middle of something else, that there is a little one in there, making itself known! I usually feel the most activity late at night, then early in the morning.... and otherwise, after I have done something very active that jolted or moved my uterus. And, if I have just eaten a big meal or drunk some orange juice! I think this is an OJ lover in here!
My anatomy scan is on Thursday, just past 18 weeks, which was the only date I could get. We are getting the 3D and are interested in what we will see....

Hi Ladies!
Sounds like everyone is doing great!
I am so anxious for my 20 week U/S on Monday. We have a very busy weekend ahead. We have Hendricks's 3rd birthday party on Saturday. Then Sunday my DH is running a marathon. I will be riding my bike along the route to cheer him on. It will be about a 15 mile bike ride for me. I hope I am up for it. Then Sunday night we will go out to dinner to celebrate Hendricks's actual birthday as a family. So, by Monday the baby and I should be wiped out, but at least I will be distracted in the mean time.
I can't believe that I am just about at the half-way point. If things go according to plan, I will deliver via scheduled c-section around 38 weeks which actually puts me past the half-way point.
Are you guys starting to buy stuff and plan for your nurseries? How about baby showers? I probably won't have any showers since this is my 2nd... but that's ok. I was spoiled with the first
We are using the same room for this baby, and moving H into a new bedroom. So technically we need to plan for and decorate that room which will be lots of fun having him pick stuff out.

AFM, I am now in 2nd trimester. So pleased. I have 2 weeks off work next week and can not wait. I saw HR this week and where I work pay 4 months full pay for maternity then statutory up to nine months which is about £125 a week. A big drop from normal. I think I will be off 6 months and then go back.

Hi All -
Today's u/s went perfectly. Everything looked just right and the doctor did not have any concerns. The only thing we didn't get to see were the feet, because the baby had them tucked up by his/her "area' and we want to be surprised so the tech said to look away while she checked them out. She said the baby weighs 12 ounces right now.
We had a great weekend. The birthday party on Saturday was tons of fun! Sunday I biked for 15 miles while cheering for my DH at his marathon. Everyone was pretty tired last night.
Tomorrow I have my regular OB 20 week check up. Should be just routine I hope.

Well, we had our anatomy scan last Thursday, and the little pea would NOT cooperate!! No surprise.... I hear that happens a lot. Anyway, no matter what we did, and the tech took a long time trying...., this one would not turn from its face-to-spine position, so the most we could get was an okay 2D picture - no 3D was possible, and really, a couple of the necessary measurements could not even be made, so we may need another scan. We'll see. I am not excited about doing another u/s, as we want to keep them as minimal as possible, having already had 3 so far.
It was nice to see it kicking and moving like crazy - it was a very active one and didn't stay still for long.
Has any else been advised of the general thought that there is an association between IVF singleton pregnancies and earlier (pre-term) births and low birth weight?
My GP mentioned this, so I decided to do a little research on it, having never heard of this before. There are a lot of studies out there that say exactly that... but none of them have an explanation. Then, however, I came upon a more recent 2008 Norwegian study reviewed in an article that explained the above results and showed that they actually misinterpreted what they found - it shows that IVF itself does not appear to be associated with higher risks of these things, but rather, that it may be the individuals' own fertility issues (which is why they went the IVF route) that lead to a greater likelihood of preterm labour, etc. They don't really know, though.
This is very interesting, as I never considered myself a candidate for early labour (rather, more likely really late labour!). And, I am not convinced of these connections anyway. But, I am curious if any of your REs mentioned this and tried to explain it? I'll attach the article link for that last study I mentioned:

Hi again -
20 week check-up with my OB went well yesterday. Got my seasonal flu shot. Still waiting for them to get the H1N1. Based on my complications last time (pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, and placental abruption) my OB wants to deliver me via scheduled C at 37 weeks (assuming baby's lungs are mature - determined by amniocentesis the day before the C). So... she is shooting for Feb 2 or 4 (based on her surgery schedule). DH and I are going to have our son pick the date from a hat. This leaves me with "only" 17 weeks left. Oh, she also did a bunch of testing to make sure that I don't have any blood clotting disorders that may have caused the complications from last time. They took 10 tubes!!! My next appointment is at 24 weeks and I will do my glucose challenge test.
Monkey Girl - I've always heard that IVF is a risk factor for early labor and wondered why. That's kind of funny about your baby not cooperating. Ours stayed perfectly still. The baby was in breech position when the tech was looking. She left and while we were waiting for the doctor to come in, I could feel the baby moving like crazy. Sure enough, the baby was head down when the doctor came in for a peek.
What is going on with the rest of you? Hope you are all doing great!

Julie - lucky you, the baby was in a good position - and then did a little move for you, too! We now have a follow up scan booked for Oct 19, so I assume that it isn't going to happen twice, and we will get the measurements we need! Then, I hope to be satisfied and done with the ultrasounds for a long time! As cool as they are, I am not comfortable having so many, not knowing for sure what the long-term effects on the fetus may be. Have a great long weekend, everyone!

Hi ladies! I hope everyone is feeling well. It sounds like very smooth sailing for all of us right now. I really hope and pray for everyone that things stay this calm for the next 6 or so months.
Julie - I know that you are nervous, but how cool to know when you will go. I am a scheduler, so that would be nice to have a date. How cool to let your son pick the date!
MG- Interesting study. I just hope I don't go late! I want to him to get on out once he is ready. I am sure I will be very uncomfortable by the end.
I am not sure how many of you peek at other boards, but I wanted to relay some news. Rosario has been put on bed rest last I heard. They did not stitch her cervix because it was looking good, but now I guess she has to take it easy. She is posting some on our old June/July board under IVF. CT_Michele has crazy low HCG numbers, but they are doubling! I know these old friends would appreciate our prayers.
AFM - I had 18 week OB appointment on Wednesday. Boring. I have gained 2 pounds since starting. I am sure that come the third trimester, I will go right up into the double digits! She talked to me about the flu shot. I got the seasonal one while there. I am so worried about the H1N1 version, but I am sure I will get it. I just worry so much about effects on the child as they get older... They drew my blood for AFP, but no results yet. She listended to the HB, and that was it. I could have skipped that visit! The 22 week appointment we are having the anatomy scan to check the organs, so I am excited about that visit.
I have a ton of energy and continue to enjoy walking every day. I am researching nursery schemes a lot and really can not decide! I am thinking relaxing. We have a play room, so we really won't use the nursery for more than sleeping and reading.
Can't wait to hear updates from everyone else!

AFM. I had my booking in appointment with the midwife today. It was really good as it was the first check on the baby in almost 8 weeks. We heard the heartbeat which was great and very reassuring. We have started decorating the nursery and ordered the carpet today.

Sabi- so nice to hear from you! I was wondering how you were feeling. You are right, we are so blessed for today.
Angie- I am scared to death about GD, so I have really been watching what I eat. Low carbs and anything with sugar. I also think I have lost weight due to not drinking wine! I try to walk every day for 30-45 minutes. My mom gained all of her weight (20 pounds) in month 7. They say you normally go the same as your mother, so I am guessing it will hit soon enough. Don't worry - I am sure I will put it on.
For you UK girls, I am so jealous. I have a great job, pharmaceutical company, but I only get 6 weeks paid. Then I can either use vacation or go without pay. I will probably take the 6 weeks and then 2 weeks vacation. I get 5 weeks total vacation, but I don't want to use it all at one time. I should be thankful though, a LOT of people in the US have it a lot worse.
Got back AFP results - all was normal! We also had nuchal trans, but I figured why not test the blood again anyway. My little guy is really moving around! It was just this week that I started feeling him a lot! It is so weird, and makes me giddy every time. I still just don't believe we are pregnant.
My heart breaks for our friends CTMichele and Rosario. I read the news about Rosario last night right before bed and was crushed. I woke up several times and remembered dreams about her and the babies. It is amazing how much you end up caring for people who you only know through this board. I hold each of you in my prayers, may we all stay well. God bless Rosario's angel babies.

Hello all... Just wanted to check in... I have started my weekly OB appointments and so far so good. My cervix is holding strong at 4.5 cm. I'm not necessarily enjoying the weekly vaginal ultrasounds to check my cervix, but they are also checking my fluid levels, etc. so we get to see the baby weekly. We do measurements again at the next appointment (20 weeks). At 16 weeks, our boy was measuring about 8 days ahead so we'll see if he is still growing like crazy. I'm still waiting on the recognizable movement. I think I feel him every so often, but nothing that is repetitive yet. Glad to hear each of you are progressing nicely as well. I continue to pray for the on-going success of each of our pregnancies. This is such a crazy process that I don't think any of us will truly feel "safe" until we take these babies home with us. Will check back in soon.

Hello Mums!
It's been so long.... thank you to you who mentioned Rosario's sad news - I didn't know until today. I followed her and the June/July posts since she got her BFP. What a difficult thing to go through, and yet so many on this board experience miscarriages or the stress and fear of miscarriages. I have been lucky enough not to have experienced this, however, even when I chat with others who have found it easy to get pregnant, I find they just cannot relate. Even going this route at all involves stresses and worries that they cannot imagine. Good on you and us all for being so strong, and healthy baby vibes to all of us here!!!!
AFM now - things have been going swimmingly for us. Baby is kicking up a storm and can be felt from the outside of my belly, even by DP, not just by me. I can also feel it move along my belly - its entire body length just flowing against my hand as it moves along. It is just amazing. This little one moves a lot, still, and I feel lots of kicks and head-butts every hour. One day I tried to count as many as I took notice of in one day and it was 110!! Over 1/3 of those were in the evening, as I was falling asleep. I assume a lot more happens during the night that I am not aware of yet. Can't wait....
