Julie,
I'm jealous!! No movement here with the babies- Doctor said I'm all placenta. Where is the feeling coming from? Are you experiencing any "stretching" pains? Breasts, stomach & tush getting larger by the day.
Can you believe that I have all the big items already? Nursery isn't ready but my 2nd floor looks like a baby store! Nervous about bed rest so I got a big jump ahead. Just need a few small items.

How is everyone? Getting big? Excited?

Thinking of you all,

Sabi! So nice to hear from you! I am so jealous that you already have everything. I just can not make up my mind about anything. I promise that I have spent 100 plus hours on line looking at cribs, strollers, car seats, nursery colors, bed sets....everything. But I can not seem to make a single decision!!

EYCI- I keep trying to see movements, but nothing. I wish I could see! I feel like I am getting kicked really low, so maybe he is too far down? DH has not felt him yet. As soon as I say 'try now' and put his hand on, it stops. I guess the baby thinks that funny!

AFM- Bored. Ready for the next ultrasound! I have my anatomy scan on November 4th, so I can hardly wait!! I think after that appointment, I will start shopping. My BFF is also pregnant and her first ultrasound said GIRL, but then two weeks later amnio said BOY!! Therefore, I just want one more confirmation that it is a boy before I buy the stores out of boy stuff. I started having some pains in my breasts and sure enough they got bigger overnight! I was really hoping to put that part off as long as possible. I was already a D cup, so I have no idea what to do if they go up a lot. I still feel like I am not showing a ton, only in certain clothes can you really tell. i want the cute big belly!

I hope that everyone has a great week and some fun this weekend!

Julie, we are not having a shower before birth, but want to have a baby showering after birth - the main goal being to meet the baby and not so much all about the gifts (which I have learned you get whether or not you ask people not to...). So, maybe sometime in March or maybe we will wait until early spring (which out here isn't until May!!! )

Baby's still kicking and moving regularly - I get more actual body-feels now, as it swims around in my uterus - it apparently has enough room still and is taking full advantage! Last week I felt the first kick to my cervix - different, that's for sure - I tiny bit achy, but not painful yet. And the BH are getting more achy and I feel the tightness and hardness all the way up and around my uterus now, as if it were filled up completely with water for an hour or so.... seems long. The other day, I felt a big poke on my left side that didn't move away, and felt a foot sticking out!! (according to the last u/s, the feet are about 3cm long....) But, I still have not seen kicks, probably am just missing looking when they happen. ;)

Happy week to you all and to your growing bumps!!

How is everyone?? Our board is so quiet, I guess we are just all baking away!

Sabi, you will feel it any day now! I promise you will know it. It's great most of the time. My guy is going long ways (like in breech position), so when he kicks I feel it at the bottom of my cervix. Sometimes he can kick my bladder or some organ, and that one kind of hurts.

Julie- that is so funny about your son talking to the baby! How cute!

AFM- I had my anatomy scan today. It was so cool. I just loved it. All the body parts were perfect. He is defnitely a male! It is safe for me to start shopping. The 3-D/4-D images were so real. I started crying right away. I will try later to scan one in. We could only get his profile because he was facing the back, but I am so in love. They are bringing me back in for another scan in 2 weeks to try to see his face again. I didn't argue - any chance to take a peek. I still feel great, and have still only gained two pounds. But, baby's growth is right on target for due date.

It still hits me sometimes just how lucky and blessed we are to be pregnant. I hate that it was this hard for us, but I am thankful that I realize just what a special gift this really is in our lives. Too many women take this for granted, but I just feel truly blessed. I don't know if I would have felt the same way if it had come easily. Sweet dreams you lucky ladies! xoxoxo

Hey All,

Just busy and to bed early on this end, but I've been reading.... where is everyone else? Feeling big now?

Congrats on your boy, Daisy!

Sabi, I am not surprised you haven't felt anything - you said you're all placenta - well, I know some women with anterior placentas don't feel movements until 26-32 weeks with a singleton.... and you've got two, which means they have less room to manoeuver and kick you around. But.... for your sake, I do hope you feel them earlier! It is great!

My little jumping bean had its first major (to me) set of hiccups yesterday evening, lasting over an hour and coming along every 20 to 40 seconds. It was low in in my pelvis at the front and was like a general rumbling of its entire body - hard to describe. I think it may have been hiccuping while it was sleeping!

On the not-so-fun side of it, I now have what is probably pelvic girdle pain (pgp), and last night it got bad enough that no position at all was comfortable, until I knelt forward leaning in child's pose, with 3 separate pillows to support my various body parts while I lay there, somewhat awkwardly. Thankfully, pregnancy hormones have also made me more flexible, so that at least my inner thighs and groin didn't hurt over the long term. I finally fell asleep, but lost about 2 hours of sleep trying different positions. :( I know it'll be back tonight, so I am taking it easy today in terms of activity.

I finally bought a bunch of maternity clothes this week.... only one pair of jeans, but a number of stretchy yoga pants and tops. I was trying to get away with just wearing a size or two up from my regular size, but found that the pants were both too small for my belly and yet too big for my hips and kept falling off when I stood up - always hitching up my pants made me feel like a 14-yr-old boy "homey-G". I knew it was bad when my DP started calling me: Mamma-G. ;) Now, I look more pregnant, as the belly band in the pants certainly lets it all hang out!!!

Cheers, All, here's to comfort and rest....

I have been more tired here as well. I think I have been asleep the past 4-5 nights by 8 - 8:30. My little one has definitely started to make his presence known as well. He seems to be most active in the evenings from about 7 -9 pm. What I can't yet discern is if they are kicks, punches, head-butts, etc. I just know that limbs are moving all over the place. We are looking forward to our next milestone, the 24 week mark. We are thankful for each day that is completely uneventful and normal. I have a question for each of you. Have any of you begun looking into cord blood banking? Do you have any thoughts? Any research on the company you feel most comfortable with? Hope you are all doing well and will check back soon.

Hi all
It's good to hear everyone is doing well.

Daisy - your anatomy scan sounds great. Its so exciting! Congrats on little boy and everything being good.

Monkey girl - The hiccups must be really strange to feel! Sorry to hear about the pgp, can anything be done to help it?

AFM, I have been feeling the baby for about 3 weeks but it is getting more and more now. I love the feeling. I have my anatomy scan next week which I am looking forward to and nervous about. There are a few baby fairs in my area over the next few weeks so I am looking forward to going to them.

Hi All -

Glad to hear everyone is doing so well!

My last appointment went well. I passed my glucose challenge test. Yay! And blood pressure is still looking really good. I start seeing the doctor every 2 weeks now.

On a down note... I lost my job on Thursday. 135 of us were laid off. So, that makes things very interesting. I don't know how it is going to go having to job hunt with a baby belly... or even if I can hide it saying "oh... I'm going to need 3 months off in February." DH is not working now either (he has a seasonal job...) On the bright side, I'm looking forward to some time home with my "boys." I guess I can start nesting VERY early now.

I'll catch up on personals later... I'm sure I'll have A LOT of time now!

Wishful - sorry to hear about the sugar. That stinks that now you have to sit there and wait. Don't worry though, if it is true, they have so many new ways to control it.

Julie- I am so sorry about the job front! I go to sleep each night worried about the same thing. My industry is so volatile and I have been very fortunate. I hope you got some sort of package and can find something quickly.

Baylorbear- So jealous of baby fairs! I don't live near a big city, so they don't come this way. I bet you get all kinds of free stuff! have fun. You will love the anatomy scan.

MonkeyGirl- I can't wait to feel hiccups! As long as it is not in the middle of the night....I have been soooo tired. Anyway, I can not figure what body parts are jabbing me. DH still can't feel, but he only tries for about two minutes, and then gives up. Of course the baby generally does not move at all once he puts his hand on!!

AFM - We have a name: Lawson. Middle name is Conwell. We will call him Lawson. So excited! Both are family names, so very sentimental. Everyone says that I have 'the glow' and I am feeling really good. I just really hope this continues next trimester!! Does anyone know how to upload pics?? I wanted to share the last U/S picture.

Okay, I think I might have figured out pics. I remembered that DH has a photobucket account for his fishing pics. Check out Lawson below at 22 weeks, 3 days. Hopefully his face will fill in soon to offset the nose! ha ha.. I AM SO IN LOVE!!

Wow Daisy, that picture is amazing! Congratulations. Was this from a 3d scan?

wishful - only 31.5 days to work! That sounds really close. When are you planning on finishing?

EYCI - sorry to hear about the job, that really is bad timing. I hope you manage to find something else. What industry do you work in?

AFM, my anatomy scan is on thursday. Wish me luck. Apart from that all good. Getting excited and looking forward to Christmas too. We have a lot of the family coming here so will be great to see them all. When is your thanksgiving holiday?

Hi

Just to let you all know I had my anatomy scan today as I am now 20 weeks. Baby is well but we have to go back for some more measurements as they could not get them all due to baby moving so much. lol. Also baby kept putting his hand to his mouth whenever the sonographer went to measure the lips.

We found out the sex and we are having a BOY. I am so excited.

Ange - congrats on your boy! It is so great how these little beings slowly become real people and personalities to us.... ;) We also had to go back for more measurements with our anatomy scan.

Daisy - your photo is great - definitely 3D! Our little one was moving too much to get one, so we got a 2D instead. Clearly a little thumb or hand-sucker!! Cute!

Baylorbear - Cord Blood Banking: I looked into this quite some time ago, but once I decided I wanted to have our baby's cord pulse until it stopped (also called "delayed cord clamping"), I forewent the option to bank, since it would not be possible anymore at that point. I understand the wish to have it banked, though. For me, I just chose to have the baby try to get as much of the best nutrients, oxygen, and antibodies cursing through it after birth in place of the option for cord blood later in life. That being said, there seem to be a number of companies out there, so happy researching, and I hope you find the best one for you!

Julie - I know that job loss and finances can be stressful (I have been going through that as well for a few months now), but if there is any way you can avoid having to find a job now and just enjoy these last few months, I say do it! It is so much better for your little one if your body is well rested and able to start nesting earlier. Of course, if you are stressed out of your tree about no job, then that isn't good, either, I realize! I had to decide between continuing to job search with a growing belly at one point, or decide to stop and try again afterward. Tough decision. But, being in Canada, our maternity benefits are, I think, different from yours in the States, so we may have more options here to take the time, too. Best of luck, either way you decide!

The hiccups - yes, Ange, they are neat, but now and again I find I can't tell the difference between those and simple frequent body movement - it takes really paying attention for a rhythm for a while. So, I rarely am sure now! However, I did get the newest kind of kicks: upper rib kicks/straight up and straight to the side kicks (I had no idea I could even feel it on the side of my body, just under my ribs, but I did!). Then, the sweetest little foot again, on my lower belly - I could feel its outline with my hand. Otherwise, though, I am not feeling any more distinct body parts like the head vs bum, or things like that.

I haven't been sleeping well lately. Not so much the pgp or pubis symphysis pain, although they play a role, too, but just plain not getting deep sleep, because I am constantly waking to roll over and find a new position. It isn't even my belly that is in the way! I think I must be getting woken up by movements and not realizing it at the time. ?

I finally have some clothes that fit my belly - mat pants, etc, except that they don't fit anywhere else.... and I have to keep hauling them up again over my hips - anyone else have that problem? I hope to "grow into them" fairly soon.

We have most of everything purchased (or given to us) except one of the major items - a car seat, which is one of the first things we will need. We are considering the one that fits from baby to larger toddler, even though at first I preferred the portable small infant seat style that needs to be replaced. I think we will be baby wearing more than not, so having a seat that is removable from the car is not such a big deal. And by the time we need a stroller, we will have the jogger that can take a 6 month-old.

Anyone else made final purchases on items?

PS - I got more info on the Disana nappies that I was interested in - was it on this board that someone had said they were interested? Anyway, the cute, covers for the prefold nappies that are knitted wool are $26 at the Canadian retailer I called, and the overnight, more absorbant wool covers are $35. Obviously, only if you are using reusable cloth nappies, etc. ;)

Cheers!

MG
