Hi everyone -

Quick flying post - I havent read all your new posts yet & dogs are dying to go out! We saw a sac and a dot!
my RE said that it was measuring really good at 12x? - I was too excited to pay attention. he says we'll see more next tues - he thinks there will be a heart beat then. I was lying there and I thought I saw 2 little white dots in the sac - so I said "I see 2 dots"?! he said "no, thats the glare from the light"
OK I can admit it now - I was absolutely hoping that both stuck. But I'm so excited that we have a "dot"!

Evening ladies,

Ronda best of luck out of the 4 your baby has to be in there somewhere!!!!

Lou Yeah for 7!!!! You must be delighted, hope you get a good fert report.

Claud doing a "8 lining" dance for you but it sounds like you are fine with 7 your Re wouldnt go ahead with it if he didnt think otherwise, i am never told what mine is but apparantly its "beautiful" if you can call a lining beautiful

Merri good luck with 3rd beta its hard not to stress after so many knocks.

Katie Best of luck with US i pray all goes well, mam says "hi" her internet is down and she keeps asking "hows katie"

Lauren Yeah for making it to the 2ww, please God the rest of us will be joining you soon. Your dog sounds so cute mine is also my "baby" and follows me everywhere even waits on my bathtowel when i am getting a bath, though it drives him crazy when i am doing the housework as he is like a little shadow following me everywhere!

J&C so sorry for what you have to go thro. it sucks as you cant think of moving foward yet ((((hugs))))

Sarah you wont need a dog cause you will get your little baby soon! Sounds like you are nice and relaxed.

AFM Thankfully No Calls today, i swear its been a nerve racking day and i still have to go thro. tomorrow morning, my house is Shining you could eat off the floors!!! I couldnt relax at all today so i cleaned cause Please God i will soon be PUPO and the dust can just settle where it wants!!! So i banned all phone calls today but my older sister who would be classed as special needs rang me this morning and i swear my heart was in my mouth, how in the name to ye girls last till blasts if i dont get grey hair at the end of this!!!

WOO HOO!! PositiveT & Lauren have joined the limbo that is the 2ww!! You are PUPO!!! YAY! Image Lauren, I think I speak for both PositiveT & myself when I say that we are so jealous of your ACTUAL 2ww. Our clinic has a strict rule of 18dpo... and there's no weekend testing either! If your 18dpo falls on a Sat or Sun - too bad, u'll have either a 19dpo or 20dpo beta... well, they might push it back for sat, but they made me wait until Monday when my 18dpo was on Sun. Now you all really do know why I'm the POAS queen! Who can handle that without going nuts?! Image Anyway, congrats to you both!!

7 eggs is great Lou! Image fertilize little eggies, fertilize!! Can't wait to hear back tomorrow. I saw your "ET" and I had to go back and read it like 3 times! I kept thinking, no, she's having ER!! There weren't 3 ETs today, were there?! Guess they gave you the GOOD stuff, eh?! ;)

Katie!!! YAY for a great ultrasound!! I know how you feel when you have that *hope* that there will be two. We so wanted twins with our first... thinking we'd only be able to do this once... there's a little guilt that i experienced with that, but i soon got over it. Just to know there is ONE perfect little one in there, growing is such a joy and relief... it's amazing. I'm so happy for you!

I'll try to do more personals later, we gotta go get tires on the car and dinner. :( for tires, :) for dinner!

Ronda - good luck with your transfer! 4!!! Do they transfer more with FET?

Hope - that's crazy that they make you wait that long! My clinic is large, so they do everything 7 days a week. And I complain that it's a 35 min ride! I guess some of you travel a lot further!

Claudia - I am glad you are moving forward!

Lou - Congrats on 7! I know you will have some nice ones in the bunch.

Katie - YEAH for u/s!!!! I am so happy you got to see the little dot! It's so exciting!

GI - if you still need to keep busy feel free to drop in...my house is a mess lol!

Sonya - when is your u/s scheduled?

AFM - I am glad to be on the 2ww finally! I can't wait for it to fly by.

a few more personals -

Ronda - congrats on the four embies!!! Soon you'll be pupo with us!! Here's to strong embies. You are a braver woman than I! :) I have a friend who has quads. She is like crazy drill sergeant tho... not with her kids, just in general... so maybe she handles it better than some... better than I would. Anyway, I can't wish any of them anything but success - so I, for one am wishing for a successful quad pregnancy (sorry... i just can't wish for less ;) )

Sonya - glad to see you back again.. we've missed u but know you are still doing well. I'm sorry you can't get in for a U/S sooner!!! :( that's a huge bummer. But I was shocked at the number of betas you do! Our clinic has a standard 3 betas, then U/S at 6 wks, then 8 wks, then you graduate to regular OB. It is nice to have the u/s's but it would also be cool to have more betas too. ;) oh well, i guess we can't have it all. I totally understand what you mean about not being able to get attached to this pg. I had a hard time with my son's after my m/c, esp since it was a missed m/c - so i was constantly worried something was wrong and i wasn't going to have any symptoms. But eventually, i guess, as happens to us all, we get around to it. Hoping it happens for you soon, so that you can relax and enjoy being pregnant!!

J&C - I'm so sorry for what you are going thru. Thank you for sharing with us tho. We care about what you're going thru, it helps us, and hopefully somehow, thru telling us - you are helped some as well... part of the healing, I hope. Hang in there. praying you don't have to go the surgical route, sweetie.

Gi - any time you want to come to this side of the pond and clean house, you call me first. ;) cleaning craziness! I wish I could be so good about housework. I hate it. :( You'll be pupo soon!! YAY!!!

Claudia - still rootin' for that thickened lining!! Come on lining!! Good news that they are planning to move forward tho! That's got to be a relief! But a lot of thickening can happen before Friday! ;)

Miyaya - Sounds like you are doing a bit better... the right answer will come to you and DH; you'll find it together. A little time and healing will soon lead to a clearer path. (sorry, i feel like i sound like a fortune cookie... don't mean to)

Lauren - your clinic must be HUGE! I thought ours was big - with 16 locations in the greater metro area and 25 REs, I thought ours was big! But they don't do weekends except procedures and monitoring - and only those at select locations. Fortunately, my regular commute to the office I go to for monitoring and regular appts is only like 20 min away. The procedures are all done at their huge main facility which is in MD. It's not too bad, but with DC traffic, you have to give yourself MORE than adequate travel time as the beltway can always be crazy. Lucky for you - your 2ww WILL fly by! you only have a week & 1/2 to go!

afm - i know, i know, i know i'm crazy for even saying this, but i have been nauseated all day long. I don't know what else it could be except icky!?! surely not, there's no way at 10dpo, that i'm having morning sickness, even if i'm pg! It's gotta be one of three things, I'm either pregnant with super early ms, or I'm getting a nasty stomach bug, or I'm having psychosomatic symptoms - ah, i guess only time will tell.

dvr'd L O S T is calling my name...

hugs ladies.

i need some advice ladies. please let me know what you think.

so dh & i had a f/u appointment last friday with dh's urologist/male fertility specialist.

1.)he was confused b/c we told him that when they did the tesa & after my er, the nurse was telling us that the specimen was not looking good b/c none of the sperm had any motility. however, he was told that there were NO sperm at all.

2.)he also didn't understand why if they did have sperm with no motility (just like we were told) why they wouldn't use the sperm. the icsi does the job, so motility is needed. he said they could've mixed & exposed 7 of the 14 eggs to 7 sperm with no motility & the other 7 eggs to the sperm from the ejaculate. he said that is common practice.

before we left he said he'd be calling my re & discussing what should be our next plan.

so he called this am & spoke with dh. both he & my re recommend doing tesa again in about 6 months from the last tesa...so in july, which is when we were planning on doing another cycle. dh was at work with a lot of people, so he couldn't ask him if he asked my re about the 2 points i made above.

however, this is my plan:
1.)get copies of ALL of my records & getting a 2nd opinion.

2.)having a f/u appointment with my current re & DEMANDING why so many f-ups were made. when dh delivered his goods right before my re, they didn't even know anything about it at the clinic. i have this gut feeling someone made an f-up & they tried to cover it up. i also want to know WHO made the call to NOT use the tesa sperm b/c of no motility. i want to know their credentials & if they are able to make the ultimate decision like that. it's just inetresting that the urologist says it's common to have no motility & to still expose the sperm to eggs.

i'm just really annoyed. a part of me also feels that b/c i have great insurance & everything is pretty much covered, the clinic knows that they'll get paid no matter what.

thanks ladies!

Kerri – Your beta is coming up soon – are you going to poas before the big day? I’m glad you got six eggs, four making it is really good so they must be nice strong embies. I’ll be awaiting more news from you soon. Welcome to the other side of ET.

Merri; good luck with your Beta (haven’t read all the posts yet so have you already told us what the numbers are?) Anyhow.. how many DPO apart did you have your betas? I’m anxious to hear how things are.

J&C; it’s terrible that you are going through this – I know there’s nothing anyone can do to make it better. Waiting and wondering must be extremely emotionally draining. I’m sure your decisions will become more clearly with time there to dull the pain and sense of loss. It’s very hard to share a sad story but it’s needed and not only do we feel for you, but it makes us all appreciate the wonder and miracle of the entire process, and how delicate and precious it is.

Miyaya; I’m so sorry you are also enduring a tough time. Not knowing, as I said to J&C, would be the hardest thing in the world. I can’t believe it takes so long and costs so much to adopt. In Canada there are thousands of children through the ministry of social services (abandoned or taken away) and the government covers all costs. It usually takes about a year. Would you consider international adoption from an other country? You still have a great chance seeing your DS was born just two years ago! I hope things go well and I’m looking forward to knowing what your new beta says.

Positive – how wonderful for you! Your embies sound great! I know about the bathroom thing – It was really hard to pee knowing my babies had just put ‘up there’, even though ‘there’ was a totally different place! I admire your poas aversion. Me… I’m a total junkie through and through. For me it’s the only fun thing in the tww! My husband says I should open a CSI lab.

Lauren – contrats to you as well to being PUPO! Nice to have those freezies in storage.. kind of like an insurance policy. Yay for getting your beta a day early, I like your attitude about being able to celebrate or drown yourself for a few hours.

Lou; that’s wonderful for getting 7 eggs – yay for the embryologist finding your babies! I’m glad you are doing ICSI – why take a chance. Cant’ wait to see your fertilize report. Rest up, kiddo.

Ronda; Sounds like your embies are really doing well! I can’t believe you are going to transfer four – you brave woman! I know a friend who transferred three – one was not a good quality at all.. and she is pregnant with quads – one split! Good luck, with everything! I love your PMA.

Katie!!!! You give me sooo much hope! My numbers are around yours and you got sumthin’ sumthin’ happening in there! Yay for your precious dot!

Gi; Yay for the super clean house. Your excitement is invigorating, and fun to watch. I had to laugh at your story about your sister.

Hope; The betas are not my clinic’s idea… they are mine! I am too far away (700miles) to get the standard early beta (small town – busy lab – can’t book me in sooner) and I am honestly going a little crazy with just ‘normal’ to ‘average’ betas and no real serious preg symptoms. So the betas are a nice way of keeping my sanity intact until I get to see if something is in there. I still can’t really believe there’s something actually alive and growing inside. I had some small bouts of ms this morning which was great and my boobs are itchy and sore (especially the right one – on the right side?!). I’m going in for another beta tomorrow and get the results on Friday. Um, yeah, at 10dpo you can get symptoms and a bfp on a hpt! Have fun watching LOST!

Moorebaby; I carefully read your post and yes, it does seem like a lot of things don’t add up. Don’t let them jerk you around… you have every right to find out what the real story is.

Okay.. did a whack of personals! It’s fun when I have the time!

AFM: Nothing new! My boobs are sore off and on – and really itchy on one side?! Had some small bouts of m/s but honestly I am still pretty terrified. Not sure why? Just don’t really ‘feel pregnant’ maybe? Just wish I could get an ultrasound so I could at least see if there is any reason to hope!

Hi Ladies~I don't have a lot of time to do personals. Sick little girl needs mommy about every 5 min. But there were a few I really wanted to do.

Katie~Yay!! What a wonderful U/S!! I am so incredibly happy for you. Keep up the PMA!!

J&C~I am so, so sorry for what you are experiencing. I had an ectopic in July and had to do the metho shots. If you have any questions or just want to chat pm me and I will give you my e-mail address. Sending you huge hugs!! I am sorry.

Gi~Praying everything goes well tomorrow! 7th time is the charm!!!

I haven't been around any of the boards since my BFN. I am just trying to take a break from it all and enjoy planning our vacation and spending time with my family. I had to put the obession aside for a little while.

Can't wait to see more BFPs!

ok....now what

Post by miyaya »

Today we had our follow up consult with our RE after a chemical pregnancy. Our last ER got 21 eggs. Only 9 fertilized however per my RE 10 others were mature. Apparently, they witnessed that the sperm would not go to the egg. DH sperm sample was good...90 mill, 55% mobility however they would not charge the egg. He suspects a likely protein on the outer shell of egg or sperm causing them to essentially not "like" each other. Therefore, next cycle, he recommends ICSI. DH and I are unsure we want to proceed with IVF #3 right now as we know it is the last cycle we can afford. We were hoping to take some time off and maybe go back to clomid or injectibles and hopefully get "lucky" before the final IVF cycle. Afterall, I have a 2 year old that was conceived on 100 mg clomid, metformin and hcg trig....We asked our RE if he would recommend essentially going back to basics before proceeding on the next cycle and he said he would support that. But what I did not ask (too much info during the consult, I could not think straight) was....1. can soemthing be done about the protein issue? 2. If a protein is an issue this cycle, could it resolve next cyle and 3. If not, is even going back to clomid/injectibles even reasonable considering his sperm hate my eggs?? especially if nothing can be done about this issue.

I just want to be realistic and make the right choice. I do not want to waste time or money (ya know how $$ this is) if the protein issue is our MAIN issue. Thanks. Does anyone else have this issue????

Dh and I had a long talk and basically decided we would wait til June/July for another IVF. It will depend on when our pre conception checklist expires.... We are unsure if in the meantime if we will do anything else....what do you ladies think? Do I risk losing the $$?? I do know that until July, we will start making some lifestyle changes....lose a little weight, eat a bit better.....ya know...they stuff we should always be doing. Easier said than done!

So tomorrow I decided to take the day off and resurrect my Anne Taylor card! I need some major retail therapy. And hopefully today I will get results that beta is at zero so we can avoid D &C or eptopic....ugh.....

I promise to write personals later....just wanted to update you all.....

Miyaya; I know that sometimes having some answers makes things easier to take. It's amazing that they can see the sperm 'avoiding' the egg. I hope you get some concrete answers in combating the protein issue. Perhaps if you guys find a way to prevent that, it will be a cinch to get pregnant right away, naturally. I wish the clinic had taken that opportunity to study the eggs and the sperm so they might be of more help. It's not easy to get one of your eggs in a petri dish again.

What about doing ICSI?

Danandme~ Sometimes I feel like more answers leaves me with more ??'s! Ahhhh....they are basically saying next IVF they will 100% do ICSI. I guess what I am wondering is if we should even bother to do other medicated cycles in the meantime while we wait to do the final IVF? Do you think I should risk the $$ or just save it for IVF knowing we will have to pay out of pocket???
