At last the thread has started to move again

Julie - nearly 4lbs at 30 weeks is a great weight - remember you are getting the best care - understand the uncomfortable feeling though - sending you some relaxing positive thoughts xx

Baylor - know what you mean about weight gain - think it will be tough for us all but well worth it!! - Have they tested you for gestational diabetes cos that makes baby grow really big - just a thought ! - keep up the PMA not much longer now xx

Ange - will have a look at the scan link - saw my friends one - I was tempted to get one done but as we did not want to know what sex the babies were thought it was not really worth the additional expense when we already have so much to get!! Hope your cooking along nicely xx

Daisy - still working out ???? please send me some of your energy across the atlantic - I am knackered after walking up the stairs - am swimming twice a week though but that is about the extent of my exercise - even a trip to the shops requires a sleep afterwards!

Monkey - is there still time for baby to move positions of with being breech will you need a section ? - i know in Uk they will deliver vaginally a breech if you want - glad all is good with you xx

Sabi - hows you honey - did I read you were on modified bed rest or have \I dreamt that ??? Hope all is ok and not much longer now till we meet our precious bundles xx

Am sure I have missed people .. sorry

AFM - 32 weeks tomorrow and still going strong - well apart from struggling to find a comfy position to sleep in, idegestion and needing to wee all the time

Got scan this afternoon so hopefully then they will decided if am having c section - am pretty sure it will be as baby one is right up virtually under my ribs and has been settled there since 12 week scan - both are transverse but with heads at opposite sides of my body with no room for them to move now I think

Can't believe how quickly the pregnancy has passed - just want to make it to at least 34 weeks as am told then less chance they will need special care. Blood pressure low and gestational diabetes is been controlled by diet - even managing a cake a day !!!!!!!

Hope everyone else is doing good xx

Happy life changing 2010 xxx

Happy New Year's Eve! I am contemplating a glass of champagne tonight??? Maybe just a half....

Wishful- I push myself to do the exercise, but I really do feel better afterwards. I am going to be tired either way, so I just do it. I am up 10 pounds total now. I am betting on at least a pound a week at this point though! I would love to exercise until the last day, but we will just see how it goes. I have certainly decreased the intensity. Swimming is a great way to exercise during pregancy! I wish I lived closer to an indoor pool.

Julie- You probably put on some extra weight with the IV fluids. It may just be fluid retention from that time in hospital? I am praying for you to make it as long as you can. Hang in there!!

Another friend from my IVF group just went into pre-term labor. She was only 4 days ahead of me. They did a the Fibro (sp?) test on her and said that it is 75% that she will go in the next two weeks. She was in the hospital over night and they stopped her progression. Bed rest for the remainder of term.

Here's to all of us staying healthy!

32 week scan went well last week - baby a weighed about 4.4lb and baby b 3.8lb so don't think I have any worries about them being small - no contractions or pains yet - just need them to cook for another couple of weeks!

Hi everyone -

I can't believe how close it is for the babies to start being born! Are you all ready? How is everyone doing?

After my protein and platelet #s got really bad a couple of weeks ago, I've been on modified bed rest. Doctor said just to take it really easy and lay down during the day as much as possible. It must be helping because my numbers are doing better and are out of the pre-eclampsia danger zone.

I have had an U/S and non-stress test every week now since week 32. The baby is doing great. He/she?? weighed 5 lbs at week 33, which is the last time the babe was measured. I am actually starting to feel like I will make it to my scheduled C-section which is just 2 weeks away. I'm getting so anxious!!! Can't wait to meet the wee one.

Well--- I'm anxiously waiting to hear from all of you! Well done Sabi and Wishfull for making it this far with twins!!!!

OMG Julie - not long for you now - sorry bout bedrest but its obviously working xx

Where is everyone else - wonder who will be first to deliver ???

AFM - thought it was all happening yesterday - DH has said all along thought i would deliver on 21st jan - was awake all night with back ache and cramps and contractions starting - called hospital and told me to go in to be monitored - but was false alarm - all ok - but apparently more false labours with twins ??? - did a hormone test on me - if this hormone is present in your uterus it means labour is imminent within next 7 days - looks like I have a bit longer to wait as there was none there   - texted my acup lady and told her she needs to dig those needles a bit deeper on next session on Tuesday - needless to say had 2 hours of listening to babies hearbeats and activity -they never stopped moving the whole time was being monitored!

Would love updates on how everyone else is doing :D

love Carolyn xx

Hello all... Still going strong here as well. Trying to get to week 34 as doc says anything beyond week 34 for us is gravy. I would like for our little boy to stay in there until 36 weeks if possible, so keeping our fingers crossed. As of my last u/s a few days ago, my cervix has not shortened or anything, so hopefully he is perfectly content. We are making progress on the nursery. We have the crib and mattress , dresser, and a glider rocker, so now we are just waiting to see what we are blessed with at our showers before buying any additional items. Hope you are all doing well and getting ready for babies to bless us in the near future.

Hello Everyone!!!! And sorry for being gone so long....

It's great to read how much has been going on, even the not-so-wonderful things.... at least it means we are all still going strong and the babes are closer and closer to term!! :)

Not to get into it, but I have had the craziest and most stressful time this past month and a half. It is probably the first Christmas and New Years I have not really enjoyed (although there were wonderful moments)....and totally unrelated to the pregnancy. Family illness, travel over Christmas, missing family holiday events, getting stranded at the airport, getting sick and not enjoying New Years at all - since, of course, the common cold is like a serious illness for pregnant women - it just made me more miserable than I have been in 15 years.... and it still lingers 4 weeks later... :(

Okay, enough of my stress, though.

I can't complain about this pregnancy. I agree with whoever said (Daisy) how much they love being pregnant. I have been loving it, and loving interacting with the Sweet Pea on a daily basis (although my journal is about 6 weeks behind due to above-mentioned crazy time).

I was breech, as I recall mentioning. Then, a few weekends ago, I felt my belly and somehow didn't think I was feeling the hard, round little head below my navel anymore.... but I have such doubts in my ability to belly-map myself, that I just wasn't sure. So... at my GP appt that Monday, I asked the back-up Dr to check. She was less experienced than my Dr and wasn't 100% sure, but she thought the baby had turned. So.... I stressed for the next weeks until my other Dr's appt, wondering if I should be doing my "baby turning" exercises or not.... if the baby were breech, there wasn't a lot of time left to turn it, but if it was not breech, I didn't want to turn it breech doing the exercises!! Hahaha.... over thinking... but I was glad to be informed and prepared. In the end, I did only a few exercises (if anyone is interested, I will link a site below) and when I went in on Thursday, just over 34 weeks, the little one indeed was head down. Everyone can feel the head but me!!! How do you like that?!!!

I have decided to do the GBS swab, hoping for a negative, but if it is positive, I will have to have another in-depth discussion with my GP to plan how to still have my natural birth, sans IV, including if my waters release early....etc etc. But it was one of those: pick your battles moments that I decided not to fight at this point. ;) Plenty of time for that later.

We have had the nursery paraphernalia ready for some time, but not painted the room - that is currently happening. And... I am not allowed to help!! So, although I think it would be safe, I will be not inhaling any fumes at all.... and will have to let others take over. I can't wait, though, because I have all the Cloth Diapers, new and used baby clothes and other receiving blankets, quilts, crib and bassinette blankets, fun snugglies, etc. washed and ready to go - but nowhere to put them.

What else?

Well.... believe it or not, we had a call from a midwife organization last week - saying that we finally could use their services (we had been on all of the waiting lists since the pregnancy began, hoping for a homebirth with midwife). Now, we are finally at ease and have worked so hard with our doula and our GP to make this birth OURS and have a great relationship and trust with them.... so we are hesitant to move to another caregiver that we will only know for a few weeks before the birth. The other factor is that, to have these midwives, we can only have our birth at a birthing centre, not at home, due to our distance from their offices. So, we will likely stay with our current care plans, but it has been a short but difficult conundrum we never really expected to have. A birthing centre would be so much more lovely even than the nicest hospital room.... ah well. ;)

We are lucky that this is all the stress we have been having...

I am feeling well, not that big (IMO), and have not slept well now for about 3 weeks. I expect this to last way past birth. Pain in the hips.... back, ribs. Y es, well, my only position that is not constantly painful is lying on my back... but eventually that is painful, too. I am sure most of you are in the same boat, and I am NOT feeling sorry for myself - this is a great reason not to be sleeping. :) :) I just get up and have a little chat session, holding my little one in my belly to distract me...

I really am sorry for your difficulties, Julie, but am so happy to see you are hanging on - it is all worth it!

Good luck to everyone else.... this final stretch seems to last forever, I'm told... (so far, I am okay with it), but I hope you all have a wonderful, healthy end to this pregnancy and excellent births. Some of you may be birthing soon - how exciting!!!

Sorry for the novel, but trying to make up for almost 2 months...

Hi all -

No babies yet from anyone?

My c-section is booked for Feb 4th (a Thursday) so I have less than a week to go. That is assuming that the amnio to check for lung maturity comes back ok. Thought the date might get bumped up a little because my platelet count is hovering at the "concern" level. But, since my blood pressure is still excellent and my urine protein level is not getting worse, we are trying to give the baby more time. I guess it is a balancing act between not letting me get sick and giving the baby as much time to grow as possible.

At my 36 week check, they measured the baby via u/s and think that he/she is 6lbs 10oz. We are really happy with that weight at this point.

Glad to hear that everyone is hanging in there and doing as well as can be expected. The aches, pains, and sleepless nights can definately wear on you :)

Can't wait to hear everyone's news soon!

am still waiting patiently - had 36 week scan on wednesday and babies weighing 6.9lb and 6.4lb - what a good instant weight loss that will be !!!

Had a couple of days in hospital to monitor blood pressure as was high for me - normally 100/60 and went to 140/90 - have def decided now after hospital stay though to have elective c section - one baby is breach so no room to turn and after seeing pandemonium from women being rushed for an emergency section i am not prepared to put myself through that as it all happened in middle of night her husband was not even with her and as they took her to theatre she was just screaming for him - needless to say I spent most of night in tears thinking that could happen to me! then yesterday lady came in who was having elective section - arrived 7.30am - down to thetare at 8.30am and back on ward with baby by 10am - she had previous emergency sec and said elective was a pleasure - so if nothing else hospital stay has been a reality check and put things in perspective - see consultant on wednesday and will get date then!!

Hope everyone else is hanging on in there - can't wait to see my toes again !!!
Take care

Good to hear from you all!

Sabi, keep resting... it is so good that you are still doing well and the little ones are settled and happy in there right now! Yes, I am ready, except, ironically, my hospital bags - I have the baby stuff packed, but not mine. ;)

For me, it could technically be still another month and a half, though!! Or... just over a week. :) I am trying to be patient!

I do know that the baby has almost certainly dropped (it is lovely, I can feel its head directly through the inside of my vagina, just below my cervix.) Unbelievable - almost more real than feeling all those kicks from little feet!! That being said, I am not that much more uncomfortable, so I don't think it is in any rush to come out yet.

Julie - that is so exciting!!!!!! 5 days left! I am happy for you that your health and the baby's have played along to let it stay and grow this far. Every day helps... I'll be thinking of you on Thursday!

Carolyn - it sounds like you are doing great, too, with those two growing along inside you. Let us know your section date if that's what you end up doing. You made me laugh mentioning how much instant weight loss that will be!! Just imagine.... you can add a bunch for the placenta(s) at the same time, too!! My SIL lost 20 lbs in one day giving birth to her 9lb12oz singleton.... ;)

Enjoy the next days and weeks, everyone and here's to happy healthy pregnancies and births over the next while. Can't wait to see photos!!!
