Hi all thanks for the warm welcome! We are so excited for twins! And so anxious at the same time to get to the 2nd trimester! I think we will feel more calm when we get there. Dw is still very tired and nauseated. I keep telling her its all the extra work her body is doing preparing for 2! How did everyone else feel in their 1st trimester?

hi guys,

I just wantd to post an update AND I could REALLY use some uplifting support. I am 22 wweks as of this coming Monday.

After my 20 week US, the babies are great, but cervcal length has shortened. Snce Nov. 4th my length has gone from 3.5. to .8... NOT GOOD. I am currently in the hospital until I deliver and the next 2- 3 weeks are critical. they have me on IV antibiotics and a beta blocker to stop contrctions.

I am terrified. My next cervical measurement will be next week. PLEAESE PRAY FOR MICHAEL AND SOPHIA!!!

will do.

My friend in LA is at home on bedrest w/ a 2.2 measurement that started at 24 weeks.

just hydrate and relax. do what you did w/ those embies.....focus on them growing big. put your hands on your stomach and be still and meditate on their well-being. Let the docs give you the drugs to slow things down, and the steroids just in case. Worry about nothing... Let others take care of things for you..

hands on stomach, talk to the babies. let them rest.

My friend's doc said she had seen people go on bedrest and then stay there fine until 34 weeks.

Just relax and be strong and calm. (as best you can) we are here for you online.

Oh Jeniffer. How terrified you must be! You doing everything you can for your babies right now, so try to relax like stefani said. Honestly, what more could you besides try to be clam and be a good patient right now? I'll say a prayer for them both and please know that we're all rooting for you and the little ones.

Hi all,
I have been busy trying to get things ready for the Holidays and for the big birth event...before my doctor tells me to go on bed rest, which is a great possibility. I missed our group! Today we gave our big dog to a nice retired couple. It is still hard but it was the wise thing to do considering the work we have in front of us.
Stefanie, good luck on your anatomical...the wait will be worth it: it is a long exam and you will see a lot of your babies. My husband got so tired he slept a little bit :) Is it going to be this week, isn't it? And thanks for the book recommendation!
KB2131, welcome both parents! It seems that both of you are threading with us - never to early to tune in with the IVFers having multiples. What helped me with naused was to eat at 4:00 a.m. so I wouldn't get hungry in the morning; an emply stomach invites nausea. I did eat A LOT of mango and other ice cream bars. I went to the supermarked and sniffed things that didn't make me nauseating and bought them...no matter their nutritional value. At this point, we just need to be well hydrated and rested! Good luck!
SilverAngel679, so glad you've passed the 22 weeks line...your babies and more and more viable every day - move even because they come with the genetic gift of getting big and fat sooner than most! Get ready for heavy cooking - they will be eating polenta at 6 months!
Stephjim, so nice of you to continue checking on us! I'd love to know what was the most important skill you had to develop after bringing them home...the books may say a few things but you must have precious first hand clues for the rest of us!
Jenniferpd, my thought are with you, Michael and Sophia. I think we are all telling you the same: breathing in and out (if you don't do that, it is the the time for a crash course on relaxation/anxiety control breathing, no matter from which shool, yoga, etc), keeping your body plenty of water, trusting and praying for the professionals that are looking over you and letting your body do the work. Do you need suggestions to keep your mind less anxious? Let us know! Even videogames help tuning your fearful brain off a little bit! I wish you the strength you need to carry your babies until they are viable and ready to make you the happiest mom in the whole world!
Have a nice week, everyone!

Hi Everyone,

I am also new to this forum. I am also having twins(girls) which are due on Apr 13,09. I was put off of work due to swelling of my calfs and feet at 23wks. So I am really trying to take it easy and not try to do so much while I am home.
I have so many questions for all of you who are due around the same time as I am. First of all is anyone not as hungry as they use to be in the first trimester, but as soon as you feel the babies moving around you know you better hurry up and get something to eat? Second question is anyone having trouble sleeping? Once I wake up at night whether its to go to the bathroom or if I hear something, it's so hard to go back to sleep. And last question does everyone only sleep on their left side? my left leg and arm hurt so much. Thanks for reading!!

First of all welcome!! My name is Liz. You and I are having almost the exact same pregnancy!! Except I'm having boys....lol. I'm due on april 14th and except for the not feeling hungry (I'm ravished all the time) I have all the symptoms you said. The swelling, the not being able to sleep once I'm up and the pain. I think I'm also getting a little bit of carpal tunnel syndrome in my hands, Pregnancy is bliss, huh ladies?

HI ladies,

I want to thank everyone for baby C's prayers. As I have always known the wonderful Lord above hers all of them and this time reached out to us..

I had my second US this afternoon. DH and I are happy to annouce that baby C has pulled through and looks wonderful. her sac is measuring perfect as is she , she is actually measuring 8w 3d and her HR was 174..
Babies A and B were right on target also with HR's at 163 and 169...

We are so thrilled about baby C that we have decided that we will keep close tabs on her location and when she is born her name is to be Angelina.. Our strong lil Angel..

Welcome all the new mommies, this is going to be an amazing journey for all of us!!!

Well ladies I am off to bed, it has been a very long day.

Much sticky baby dust to all

hello girls, I am new to this thread..we just found out yesterday that we are having twins...a little scary for us since I have a 14 month old son from my 1st IVF...I don't want to sound ungrateful or unhappy I am just feeling very overwhelmed, we really were just planning for 1 more, but god doesn't give you more than you can handle, right :D I also get nervous because with my 1st IVF we put 3 embryos in and at 6w had twins, but by 7 weeks one was lagging and at 8 weeks we only had 1 heartbeat...I don't want that to happen either...This time we only put 2 embryos in... We did hear 2 heatbeats, 105 & 108 & measuring 6w & 6w1d, so I think things are looking pretty good on that end...

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE

Much Hope...I'm glad Baby C pulled through, I've been keeping my eye on your posts hoping for the best!!!

Jenniferdp:

I have been in your situation, I had my twins at 28 weeks. My cervix went from 5 at 20 weeks to 1.6 at 22 weeks then down to .9. I stayed in the hospital on bedrest and magnesium until I delivered at 28 weeks. Both babies did well, no breathing problems other than they were on a Cpap machine. One baby weighed 2lbs 8oz and the other was 2lb 2oz. they stayed in the NICU for two months. They went home a month early and they are doing great. It was hard, but you and the babies are going to be all right. I'm praying for you guys!

Hello all! I haven't really had anything to say lately just reading all the post and staying up on what is going on. I am doing great and so are Emma and Evan. I am getting uncomfortable though. I can't sleep laying down at first. I have to sit pretty much straight up because of my acid reflux. I have to wait for my food to digest and then I can lay down. I only have about 5 to 6 weeks left so I can do this. I just want to sleep while I can before the babies get here.

Is anyone else going to try and breast feed? I am and I really hope it works out. I just want the best for them and I think it will be a great way to bond with them even more. My sister didn't breast feed and her kids were very healthy and still are so I am not worried about, I have just always wanted to. My sister hated it so I know it is not for everyone. Just curious what your thoughts are on breast feeding.

I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!
