hi ladies...
i'm not new, but usually write in the march babies...we have twin girls on the way EDD is 4/6.

To all the ladies who've had cervival shortening...can i ask what risk factors you may have had for this or none? Previous pgs, cervical surgeries, etc? I'm just curious to know if multiples is enough of a risk factor by itself... So far, mine is about 2.7 which sounds short, but the peri said it could stay like this for a while...

i have a long commute to work which can be stressful and every day i wonder when the bed rest is coming or if its coming at all

Happy holidays to everyone :P

Hi all,
Nice to hear that Jenniferpd's cervix has calmed down and the babies are getting stronger. Hang in there, Jennyferpd! I am thinking of you every night, wishing you calm and strenght. Breathe in, breathe out!
Welcome newbies! Vadermom, I am seeing a nutricionist and that has helped me to pick what to eat and how much to dring (8 glasses of water plus 4 of milk every day in my case). It is very good to read books on nutrition (I liked Eating expectantly) and shop good nutritional foods to have them available all the time.
Much hope, congratulation on your triplets! I am a bit ahead of you, wish you many nice weeks!
Druiett, congratulations on your twins and welcome to the group! We have been through a lot together...and more and more I feel how connected we became, in our joys and sorrows.
Grogers, nice to read you again! Almost there!!! I would definitely check breastfeeding out. It makes babies strong, even smarter. I did breastfeed my grown-ups and enjoyed doing so - boobs fall due to genetics, not to breastfeeding. There is an enormous marketing against breastfeeding and if you read about the Mafia of formula makers you would understand why...Hope you enjoy breastfeeding. If it doesn't work, that is ok but...I have enjoyed almost every bit of it (after my nipple skin got rough enough).
Hi SilverAngel - Liz...thanks for posting your real name. Hope all is well with your big little ones!
Take care every one! I am going to curl up with a book and DH in front of the fire place. We are having the first snow storm!
Best, Luciana

Much Hope wrote:HI ladies,

I want to thank everyone for baby C's prayers. As I have always known the wonderful Lord above hers all of them and this time reached out to us..

I had my second US this afternoon. DH and I are happy to annouce that baby C has pulled through and looks wonderful. her sac is measuring perfect as is she , she is actually measuring 8w 3d and her HR was 174..
Babies A and B were right on target also with HR's at 163 and 169...

We are so thrilled about baby C that we have decided that we will keep close tabs on her location and when she is born her name is to be Angelina.. Our strong lil Angel..

Welcome all the new mommies, this is going to be an amazing journey for all of us!!!

Well ladies I am off to bed, it has been a very long day.

Much sticky baby dust to all
Elida

Wow,Much Hope,it's amazing. We transfered 2,started out with 2,but second u/s at 7 weeks show us 3 embryos w/hb to our big surprise-baby B was the one who split into identical twins. But we also found out that baby A is not growing like other two and his hb was 125. Next week baby A didn't have hb,so we are now having twins(possibly identical),it's hard to say,bc they probably split early enough-they have separate sacs and placentas.
I wish you as easy pregnancy as possible!

Hey - about cervical shortening. --
twins are enough of a reason. the weight they place on the lower part of the body can start the cervix shortening. You might stop walking to work. My best friend was placed on bedrest at 24 weeks with a cervix that same length. It continued to shorten to 2.2 and then has been holding steady.

I was walking a little but I get dizzy and out of breath. It's so frustrating, but I am really REALLY taking it easy. I want these little guys to stay in until April. Activity is really a factor , although everyone is different. Age, and your doc will also be big factors in what to do when and how .

sorry I haven't been on in a while. all is well. We had our 20 week scan and it was wonderful and amazing. christmas was quiet and mellow and peaceful and I am looking forward to the rest of the pregnancy

we are buying things now, and taking classes and all that stuff. Also it looks like we will be moving soon to so I am really trying to take in one day at a time and take it easy.

Wishing everyone a great holiday and happy healthy deliveries in 2009!

Jennifer - glad things are holding steady. sorry I have been a little out of it. You're doing eveything right. It's not unusual for the cervix to shorten a bit more and then hold. keep on holding.

vadermom -
I'm 21 wks. 5 days and also do not eat as much. I am not always thinking about the next meal. Also I have less room. I find I have to leave food on my plate and then come back to it a few hours later. Your stomach is moing up under your heart (more heartburn to come too) and there isn't room for big meals. I also forget to eat more and have to make myself. That never happened early on. One thing I do is drink several glasses of milk a day -
easier than eating, good for fluids, protein and that extra calcium. (ok so I accompany it w/ a cookie or a small piece of chocoalte too) :P

stephanie...
thanks for your reply to my question...i have issues with relaxing...like right now i feel like going to the mall to shop after xmas...and i have lots of family coming over tonite, so i have to cook. I do get short of breath as i have anemia, and taking 2 iron per day. my next apt is 1/6 so we'll see what he says - he's on the conservative side which is goood becuz the obs's are not.

Glad to hear your 20 wk scan went well...its so cool to see our babies growing healthy every day!! Tums help me a lot with heartburn, plus good source of extra calcium. Make sure you're still getting lots of fruits, vegetables, lean meats as our babies definitely take what they need from us leaving us deficient in certains vits/minerals...i never had to take fiber before..but now i take a big glass of orange metamucil every other day...kinda like tang

I don't know if it's 'cause I'm 40, but my doc said CLEARLY that a twin pregnancy requires a LOT more rest and after trying for 2 years, and being told I'd never get pregnant, I listen.

Don't go to the mall. - what's there? Crowds? more consumer crap? You can order lots of baby stuff on line. and basically ... even if you're saving money, you're still spending it. try to take it easy.

I don't mean to sound harsh - we're moving so my nesting instinct is ALL about getting rid of stuff right now. The baby furniture I am ordering on line - using online discounts and free shipping and stuff and just enjoying being in from the weather. I live in the NE so it's easy to want to stay indoors and rest.

If you do do stuff, try to nap for one hour every day. Pushing yourself and having babies end up in the NICU will be no fun. That's not to say any of us, couldn't end up there. My friend is just on such serious bedrest, that I think I have really taken the whole "take it easy" thing to heart.

Let others do for you. A year from now, you can do all the stuff you feel you want to now.

Have a great time to w/ relatives.

Yay! I'm having boys too, and just loving the whole idea of two little brothers. I'm from a family of 5 girls and one boy, so this feels new and different.

COngratulations, and I admire your restraint in waiting to find out. That's pretty incredible!

Hi everyone!

Would you mind having another member in your group? I am very new to all of this and have been quietly following the message strings (and getting a lot of good info!) while I built up the courage to post!

We are both 30 and have been trying for over 3 years. We had a BFP with this IVF cycle and just found out that we are expecting twins!

Our first u/s was just to count sacs and that is when we found 2. Our second u/s at 6+6 wks showed 2 heartbeats and we were able to measure CRL with both. One is measuring a bit smaller at 6+2 wks (my RE reassured us that this is still within the expected error of the machine) and the HR was 110. The other measured at 6+5 wks with a HR of 124. Our RE was concerned about m/c with the HR of 110 and we have to follow up in 1 week. I have read in many places that a lower HR in early pregnancy is normal. Did any of you experience this with your early ultrasounds? I am so nervous but feel that all will be well...we have been so exicted about twins.

To all those on bedrest...my heart goes out to you and I am hoping that time moves swiftly! It will all be worth it soon!

Hey guys. It is so good to see all the new friends on here. I wish all of you the best pregnancy. I don't post much but I keep up with all the post.

Well it has started, CONTRACTIONS!! Since Friday I have been having them on and off. I had my NST and they could see the contractions on the monitor, nothing to bad yet. The nurse said with twins that this happens alot. I could go on like this for weeks. I hope I can hold off another 2 to 3 weeks at least. I am so excited though if that makes sense. It feels like progress I guess that is why. Has anyone else had any BH yet?

Have a good night!

Crogers: Congradulations!! It must be so exciting and scary to feel them. And knowing that with them will come your babies eventually.
I had braxton hicks 2 weeks and was completely freaked out by them. I had a few today actually and I'm not so scared anymore because the doc said they're completely normal and not to worry about them.
Do the contractions hurt? That's one thing I'm not looking forward to.
Has anyone gotten anything for the babies yet? for christmas my mother in law wanted to have something under the tree for my boys and gave it us. It was 2 blue fleece bankets with some sport stuff on them. well, I can't tell you all how hard I cried when I saw them.
I was so overwhelmed with the fact that this was the first things my boys have EVER. I have nothing for them but these blankets and the milk in my boobs and I was just so emotional. Everything from the tag with their names on it to the fact that they're blue and there where 2 of them just had me crying like a baby.
My husband even wanted to go out and get their take home outfits yesterday and I was scared to becuase I didn't want to make a fuss in Babie R Us like i did at his moms house.....lol. I was fine though and we got them and i can't wait to see my boys in them.
Any one else fel like they've got soccer players playing a game in their uterus yet? My little guys never seem to stop moving these days. I love everey second of it.

CMK-welcome!
It is common for twins to be a bit different sizes and different h/b
But it also could go either way with the smallest baby.I started out with 3 and one baby had h/b 125,the other two were 168 and 145.Between week 7 and 8 one baby that had 125 h/b stopped growing.I'm not telling this to scary you, just repeat what my doc said-it can go either way -the little one can catch up and next time measure the same and have a strong h/b or nature will take care if something wrong with this baby.
Good luck! :)
