I'm having two showers- A co-ed at the very end of January and a traditional shower in the middle of January.
I'm not "due" until April 2nd (which is the 38 week mark when they will take the babies). The possibility of going really early and of being on bed rest made us want to have it early.

Things have been going well. We have selected first names, but are keeping them secret from most of our family because we got really tired of everyone's mouthy opinions! We are stuck on second names. We want to name them after family, but there are so many people in our families and we're worried about hurting feelings.

I'm still getting weekly cervical checks. We tried stretching to 2 weeks, but on our last "one week" visit they saw shortening when I did the bareing down part so we have to keep checking it. I have twice a day contraction monitoring. I usually just have one or two during each session, although I have had a few instances where there were several more. Seems like as I get further along they come more often.

Hubby painted the first coat in the babies' room tonight and we started test driving larger vehicles today.
I also realized yesterday that even if I made it to the average gestation for twins (34.5 weeks) that is only 10 weeks away!!!!! I can't believe how soon that is. Regardless I will have less than 14 weeks, which will go So fast. I just can't believe how fast this has gone.

Happy New Year Gals!

Is anyone experiencing bad pelvis pain in the front? Lower hips? When I'm upright it feels ok but if I bend over the pain is pretty bad. I need to talk to my doctor about it...but I won't bother him until Monday.

Yes and yes. And there have been no problems at all, as this is all part of the growing pains. I think it's the ligaments, and whatever that hormone is (relaxin, or something???), is making all our joints, etc., move around and rearrange themselves for the baby. Good times!

Yep- the progesterone loosens up the joints. My hips popped out of place in the first few weeks. I had to use a hip stabilizing thingy. I have just kind of gotten used to it now. Sometimes when I have been sitting in the same spot for awhile and I try to stand up it is really uncomfortable and I have to walk like an old lady for a few minutes until I can get straightened out!

LW and Dogz: Thanks you guys! I did some stretching and prenatal yoga, which seems to help. Still hurting but it's bearable. I can't believe your hips popped out of place LW. OUCH!!!!

My latest prego symptom is that my nipples are starting to leak a tiny bit each day. I thought I was just seeing things...then this morning I pinched my nipples and some liquid came out. WEIRD!!

Hi gals! How are you all doing? Everyone's been sooo quiet lately. I need my IVF girls to bounce ideas off of. I was wondering...is anyone already thinking of doing IVF again after this baby is born...and when?
Love to all,
Tia

Tia - That is so funny that you said that. My husband and I were discussing it last night. I really do not think I will do IVF again. We were so incredibly blessed this time and having one healthy child is a miracle. IVF for me, was no picnic. I do not want to put my body through it again. In a year, we are going to start fostering children (seeing how many children are unwanted in Social Work, I feel that this would be our next course). Many are even infants and typically biracial. My neice was adopted from China and I adore her. I really want to give back to a child in need. Aside from that, finacially it just doesn't make sense for me to gamble $15,000 but that is just what we decided. I donated half my eggs to save on the cost of IVF but I have reached that cutoff age now. I am 33. Who knows, I could very well already have other children out there and just not know about it for 18 years. They can contact me later in life. I kept 10 eggs and the recipent received 9 but we had a hard time with fertilization... out of the 10 only 6 were mature and 2 fertilized. So who knows, she could have had a hard time with fertilization too. For us it made sense cause we were able to do IVF for $7000. Plus, I feel good about helping someone else.

I am, however going to immediately (3-6 months after birth) going to start trying for another. I have seen that after you get pregnant the first time, it does get easier. We were diagnosed with unexplained infertiltiy so maybe this will do the trick. I really want 3 children.

No leaking nipples for me but you are ahead me... so that could be coming. Did you purchase some nursing bras yet?

When did you start having pelvic pain? Has it gone away?

lw918 & Dogz - How are you feeling? Are you still having popping joints or has it improved?

Babies - Happy New year and (((hugs))) to you too!!!

Skipper - I love the name Ethan

ALL - Well, I am starting to feel like I have absolutely no idea that I have registered or purchased anything that I am going to really need. Bottles??? I just pick up different kinds. I really hope I can breastfeed. I need nursing bras... pads??? It's all so confusing to me.

Where is the baby going to sleep? Should I move the crib in my room? Is the bassinette dangerous?

See... i am so confused. The more I read the more scared I get. The more questions I ask... the more variety of responses from Mothers... so how can you really prepare?

Anyone doing chord blood? I have like 5 companies and cant decide who to trust. Peditricians? Public or Private school?

See... I am going nuts. but loving every minute of it.

So far, we have had 43 RSVP to the shower... so I am sure I will be overwhelmed with baby stuff.

Sunday I washed all the clothes in Dreft and my arms broke out... so how safe is that detergent really???

Hi ladies. This board has indeed been quiet. I can't believe we've made it or almost there to our last trimester. WooHOO!

Tia, i do plan on having another child but prob will not start until a year out. We may try on our own for a couple of months and then start IVF. IVF was tough for us also but i'm going to be hopeful.

Been getting loads of pelvic pain and hip pains - i believe it is called sciatica. Also starting with the leg cramps which is a real pain coz i have to jump out of bed immediately and walk around otherwise i would be limping for two days. Anyone else? I am also now staring bi weekly visits to my OB.

We finally registered over the weekend but got so tired that i think i now may have registered for things i do not really need or like so will have to edit it over the weekend. My shower has been moved to end of Feb (27th) now because a few of my close friends were going to be out for president's day weekend. Do u think this is too late?

Cressi: I am as confused as u and always worrying but i think things will fall in place. Wow u're way ahead of me with the washing. Am going to wait till march and then wash them. Still waiting for my nursery furniture to come in which won't be till feb sometime. Hope i still have energy at that point.

Anyone else also feeling tired again now. I'm starting to.

Hello everyone. So How nervous/excited have ya'll gotten? We finished the nursery yesterday- both cribs up, chair, clothes hanging in the closet, etc. Now I am like "OK....where are the babies that go in there?!" I have been having dreams about them so that makes me even more anxious. I just want to know what they look like, etc. I feel like a kid going to Disney World- it is so hard to wait! However, we want them to stay in there and cook as long as possible!!!

I was getting the leg cramps too, but have found that really really hydrating before bed helps a LOT. The potassium wasn't really doing me any good with them. After the first one I couldn't believe how sore I was! Felt like I'd torn a muscle. It hurt for a week or more.

I definatly still have the hip pain, I'm just used to it by now I guess.
I'm going to buy one of those pregnancy belly support things though. I'm larger than I was full term with my daughter and have a ways left to go! It is getting difficult to do anything- stand up, roll over, etc. etc. etc.

Registering was overwhelming to me and I've done this one before! I just finally went through and registered for all sorts of things and figured what I don't end up needing/using I can return for larger items we really need.

As far as where the babies will sleep, we got a playpen with the bassinet in it and will keep them in that in our room until they are a bit bigger and then we will move them into cribs. We figure they will probably sleep in the same crib until they are rolling over.

Cressicaw, I can't believe that dreft broke you out!! My daughter has the most sensitive skin and it works ok for her. That is crazy. I will definatly keep an eye on that!!

As far as IVF Again we have three frozen embryos that we plan to use in a couple of years. If we are unsuccessful with those we will not try again. We will have three children and are SO blessed! I am also considering having tubes tied when they do the c-section because I don't really like any of my other options for birth control and we definatly definatly want to have a little bit of time with these babies before having more. Since our infertility was male factor, but he did have enough to do the IVF and it only takes one I didn't want to take any chances with surprises a month or two after these two come along :)

Hi all

lw918 - its so funny you saying that about having everything ready for the babies and now just the wait to get them. I think we have everything but medicines and a thermometer, although I am sure someone will say they have brought something and then we will panic in case we should have it too. I love sitting in the nursery!

babies - I also can not believe we are in our third trimester, it is so exciting!

Cress - I know what you mean about being confused with lots of different advice everywhere. I think my mum has given the best advice. She said to trust your instincts, and somehow when the baby is in your arms you will just know what to do. My dad said a similar thing to me. After 20 years divorced this is the first thing they have agreed on.

Tia - we have discussed it too. We figuered we would do our frozen cycles and then call it a day. We do not want to be bankrupt and not have money for our little boy. I can't wait to take him on holiday and buy him toys plus money for activities, etc.

I had a 28 week check up last week and we had an ultrasound to look at the placenta and cord. This is unusual in the UK but the IVF consultant is my pregnancy consultant and he likes to check extra things to normal pregnancies for his IVF patients. It was good to see everything is ok.

The only concern was my blood pressure dropping but it is not too low just low for me. It was 114/68.

The hip pain is really bad but coping and only 11 1/2 weeks to go!

The weather here is quite bad. It is very snow and icy, a lot longer than normal. On friday it took me 4 hours to drive 3.5 miles home. Then 1/2 way my petrol warning light went on. My back hurt all weekend after that!

Take care all,

Not long now especially for those with twins!

Cressy: I love that you're going to foster kids. I don't think I could do that because I'd get too attached. I've seen kids get taken from the foster parents and given back to their birth parents (as have you I'm sure being in your field). Maybe you'll get prego naturally! That would be great! My hips aren't hurting as much lately...think the yoga is helping. Yes we're doing CBR which is Cord Blood Registry. We're getting a cosleeper to go in our room and have the crib in the nursery. I hear Advent bottles are good and my sister said to get a few smaller ones 5 oz. as well. I haven't bought any pads or nursing bras yet. Also do not get the Baby Bjorn, get the Ergo baby carrier. My friend who is an Occupational Therapist says the Bjorn screws up the baby's hips. Are you still stressing out?

Babiesgalore: That's awful about the sciatica! Sounds awful!! My hips have felt better lately after doing yoga. Your shower isn't too late I don't think. What's your due date again?

LW: I'm terrified of leg cramps! I haven't gotten any yet...but have had them now and then in the past and they hurt so badly that I'll just end up crying. That hip thingy you're talking about getting sounds like it will help your pain. That's exciting that you got the nursery all set up. I'm sure that put you more at ease.

Angie: I'm so glad you got to do an ultrasound and see that your baby is growing and beautiful! I'm sorry you're having so much pain in your hips. Maybe you should buy one of those hip things LW was talking about.

AFM: I think the reality of baby coming is overwhelming me! I'm sooo excited but nervous as well. How are we going to afford me taking time off work? We are in so much debt from doing IVF (3 rounds) that we just have too many bills. We want another baby and the ONLY way for us to get prego is IVF. My fallopian tubes are both cauterized, due to having a condition called Hydrosalpinx (water in the tubes). For IVF to work, I had to have surgery to cauterize them both before we started. At least I won't have to get my tubes tied later. LOL! I want to breastfeed for at least 6 months and then try IVF again. I can't nurse while taking meds and I'm not getting any younger. I'll be 39 by the time the baby is born.

Question: How much toatal weight have you gained? I'm up 16 pounds!!!

Tortilla: At my appointment last week I had gained 17 lbs. This is better than what I'd been doing, but I guess it still isn't as high as they wish.

We had a growth ultrasound today. Our babies are 2 lb 10 oz and 2 lb 4 oz! Both measure ahead of their due date. Even though there is a big difference in size they have both gained within normal limits from their last check so everything looks good.

Hello everyone! I haven't been on the site in a long time and thought I would check in :D

I've been trying to catch up on the posts and I'm so happy to hear of eveyone doing quite well. Like ya'll, I'm excited for these next few months and feeling overwhelmed at times. Aside from a crib I have nothing else! My family assures me that they have a baby shower in the works and my baby will be clothed. LOL!

As far as aches and pains....lately my back has been bothering me. It seems to be mostly upper back. It's probably from my huge tatas!! I have gained 18 lbs so far. The doctor wasn't thrilled but she understood it was the holidays and cautioned me to eat better the next few months. But I get soooo hungry!

I will catch up on the reading and try to do personals. I'm so far behind!!
