Brenda3 -- I went today also and my E2 levels are through the roof. They were at 3800 yesterday so today RE said they are probably over 5000. There was no mention about this having an effect on egg quality though. My RE's concern is OHSS. She says she will do the retrieval on Tuesday as planned (I trigger at 8:30 tonight) but that they may have to freeze all embryos and not do a transfer this month but do a frozen transfer later. That is obviously a big disappointment for me but I think is some good news for you because it looks to me like your levels are not all that bad. Good luck to you!

Amy,

Went for more BW and US today (yet again 3rd day in a row) My E2 leveled off 2950 and RE said that I should get at least 10 mature eggs from ret. Which was good news on my 38th birthday (Did my eggs also turn a year older?)

I trigger at 10:00 pm tonight , so it looks like You, Me and Lisa will all do ER on Tuesday.
Lisa- how are you feeling? Is the pain getting any better?

How do your RE's feel about bed rest after transfer? Seems that it is all over the board. MY RE said that as long as you rest for 1 hour after transfer then you can get up and return to normal activity. But I plan on staying in bed for 2 days even if just for my own peace of mind.

Sorry I've been out of the loop lately. Here's my latest update. As you all know, I experienced some severe suprapubic pain Saturday morning and my doctors said to take Percocet and put on a heating pad and to call them back if no improvement or if it got worse. So, I rested and was still doubled over in pain so i called them. They wanted me to go to the emergency room to rule out ovarian torsion (twisted ovary). So I went to the emergency room, had an IV started where they gave me IV dilaudid for pain and phenergan for nausea. They did an ultrasound and found the ovaries to be in good condition. They noted a small amount of fluid around them that they attribute to some leaking from the endometrioma cysts. But everything else looked good all considered. They wanted to be safe and to make sure that I was able to keep my pain under control so they admitted me to the hospital. I had pretty steady "bloated" type of pain all over my abdomen but the sharp pains were relieved by the dilaudid. The fate of the egg retrieval on Tuesday was to be determined by how I responded during the hospitalization. The only hold up from their perspective was if I couldn't tolerate the pain.

They told me there was a chance I'd have more pain after the trigger shot but that if I was willing to take a chance, there was no danger in trying. So I decided I'd try to tough it out and went ahead and did the Ovridel Sunday night at 10pm. They kept me in the hospital Saturday and Sunday night and I got discharged today around 3pm. I went right from the hospital to my clinic and had one final ultrasound. The doctor was so excited with how everything looked. She said that at this point I have 10 follies that are mature most of them begin 18-22mm and some assorted smaller 13-15mm. The lining of my uterus looked great so she was really hopeful that we would have great success tomorrow. So, I go in for retrieval at 8am Tuesday.

I can't believe that all of us are going the same day. That is soooo awesome. My spirts were really dashed when all of this happened Saturday but my DH has been by my side the whole time helping me through it and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we get through ER and that my body doesn't freak out so that we can have ET on Friday. If I'm in too much pain, they'll more than likely freeze embryos and try when my ovaries settle down. But they are thinking that once they deflate all the follicles, that my pain might subside.

Sorry this is such a long post but that's what happens when you don't have access to a computer for two days. Hope everyone else is well and good luck to us all tomorrow. Thanks for all the well wishes. :D

Ok...I'll be the first to update results of ER. They were able to recover 16 eggs from me... I was sooo psyched. I was thinking around 10 so that was awesome news. Still a little sore. I'm in love with my heating pad...it's all but replaced my DH. Just trying to take it easy so my body can get back to normal in preparation for ET on Friday.

Brenda, Amy, Phoebe: How did everything go with you gals?

Hope everyone is resting and getting pampered.

Hi ladies,

Good to hear all went well for everyone so far. Didn't hear from Lisa yet.
I got 23 eggs clinic called today and said that only 11 were mature and we had 9 fertilized due to ICSI. They will call me back tomorrow and let me know cell growth. I go for transfer on Friday.

Are you all sch. for Friday transfer? Are we all starting progestrone injections tonight?
When do your RE's do first beta (pregnancy) test? Mine waits for 14 days after transfer but will try to talk them into doing it on day 12 after transfer.
I have heard of some doing as early as 10pt.

Everyone rest tonight and tomorrow we have our big days on Friday!!!!!

So far out of the 16 eggs retrieved, 7 were fertilized and thus far are good quality. Transfer is scheduled for Friday at 7am. I start progesterone shots tomorrow evening. Ugh! Pregnancy tests are done 14 days post transfer so mine is on Dec 21, the day before my birthday. Hopefully I'll get a nice present.

Is anyone else feeling any discomfort from ER? I'm trying to figure out whether the bloated tender feeling I have is the remnants of the flare up of my endometriomas from over the weekend or whether it is from ER. I'm really curious how you guys are feeling physically because I'm a little concerned about it. Let me know.

By the way Brenda...Happy Belated Birthday

My first IVF I didn't have any discomfort but this one is horrible I feel very bloated and tender. I am still trying to get back to normal before tomorrow. I don't know what time my transfer will be tomorrow it depends on how many ER they have sch. for other patients as ER are done in morning and transfers in afternoon. I go to the Cleveland Clinic and it seems that they always have at least 4 ER sch. every day.

Phoebe seems you will be the first to have your BETA done always keep us posted.

Brenda- I'm sorry you're hurting so much but I'm a little relieved that I'm not the only one. I just wasn't sure if there was an expectation to be pain free before ET. I'm trying to stay off the pain meds and heating pad today to see how I do without them. But if it becomes unbearable, I'll have to cave in. Fortunately I don't have to work until next Tuesday so I can really stay off my feet and rest. Hope you're feeling better and good luck tomorrow.

Just wanted to update everyone. I had my ER on Tuesday as well and they were able to recover 23 eggs. 18 mature and 13 fertilized. This apparently is all for nothing though because my RE will not do the transfer because she says my E2 levels are too high and I am at risk for OHSS. I feel fine physically, very minor discomfort. I am devastated by the result however. She froze the embryos and thinks that I will be doing a frozen cycle in the future but I will not be doing that. My husband and I had decided that this was the final attempt so I will remain baby-less. Good luck to all of you, I hope that you all have your dreams fulfilled!

Amy
I am so sorry to hear that. Could you not give it one last shot (you already have your embies) you would only have to go for transfer. That is a very hard choice to make I really feel for you and your husband.
I will pray for you.
