Hi all,
I am glad to hear that besides the not so restful surrogate everyone is doing fine...we need days of no bleeding, no extreme vomit, no disgusting gastric reflux - and no nightmares about lost pumps!
Gennessa, congratulation on your twin boys! What will be the official sport in Dad's opinion?
ndgo82, you doctors may check for some sort of problems if the twins share a placenta or if the differences can't be explained by individual differences, which is quite possible. Twin-to-twin transfusion and some other problems are not very frequent but I am sure your doctors will monitor your babies more frequently.
For all of us struggling with nutricion and the ideal weight gain...life is plenty of "good protein". We must exercise self-control and good choices as our children will learn from start that one cannot eat all that is available and adversized...obesity is epidemic in many countries (especially here in the US). It is a direct consequence of the distorted way we have been fed - fast food and empty proteins.
My hustand and I have pushed for an early appointment with a dietician and it was very, VERY helpful. So far, I have gained 3 pounds and my babies are just fine.
We have a binder with dividers for : weight chart, daily charts of the groups of foods I must eat, lists of foods I enjoy (I fill it out as we browse through the supermarket islands), recipes... It became a lot easier. I also say to myself - refuse junk! - everytime I see empty calories advertised on TV. They don't care about me or my baby. They just want us to continue to eat 4 times more calories than any other citizen in the world and to be morbidly obese. Sorry if I sound aggressive. I need to defend my little ones against all messes that happen when we don't maintain a healthy diet

If I don't take charge, who will?
I have changed my eating habits six months before getting pregnant. Believe me, it is getting easier every day.
Wishing you and your babies a healthy waiting/weighting season,
Literatriz
