Welcome Baylorbear! Wow that is a big baby...how big is he now?

Angie: Freddie is sooo damn cute! Savannah needs one of those door bouncers. I heard that the walkers aren't good for babies but the door bouncers help strengthen their legs. Also I saw your post on my FB wall about Freddie getting his first tooth at 11 weeks-that is crazy!

Savannah is teething now and I hate to see her so irritable and in pain. Are your babes teething yet? Anyone thinking of doing IVF again? We're just starting to talk about it.

Hi there tortillachip, so glad to see that everything went well with your delivery, etc. Our little boy is a little over 17 pounds now, 26 1/2 inches. He will be 5 months tomorrow. At his 4 month appointment, he was showing to be in the 80th percentile for height and weight, so I suppose he is still on the larger side. He has huge hands and feet and kicks like crazy, so we may have a really good swimmer on our hands in the future.

We are just enjoying Owen so much... Still can't believe we finally have our family. Haven't even begun to think about going through IVF again. It was such a emotional and financial drain, that it is not something that we really want to go through again. If we decide that we do want a second child, I think we will probably go with adoption.

Hope you are all doing well and thoroughly enjoying mommy-hood. Angela

Tia - thank you. He is getting better and better in the bouncer. He now holds his own weight when standing so his legs are really strong (you do need to hold his hands obviously) now. We also have a jumparoo but he is less keen on this even though it is far more expensive! Teething is horrible isn't it? I follow Savannahs progress on facebook, she is a lovely baby, very special indeed.

Angela - I love big babys. I am biased, Freddie is always between the 75th and 91st centile. Today at 18wks he measured 26.2 inches and weighed 17lb 7oz! What clothes size does Owen wear? We have noticed that the 3 - 6 are big enough but getting short! We have started on solids to keep the hunger at bay.

At the moment we have decided against another child because I am not sure we can face the rollercoaster again. We have been through a lot less than many on here but are still daunted at starting again. Also, we would be self funding as we are no longer eligible for NHS treatment so we probably would only do the FET and that is it if we changd our minds in time.

Just a question, I have just seen a really good job to apply for in New Jersey through the company I work for. As a couple we have always wanted to emigrate to the USA. However, now I don't know. What are childcare costs like? I have heard new jersey has a high cost of living, is that right?

Carolyn - the boys are so cute! They are really changing and coming on so well. I can't believe how time flies

Tia - I love the picture of Savannah in her door bouncer! She is a real sweetie and good to see her developing so well. Have you started your baby sign course now?

We started sing and sign last week at the local sure start centre and its great fun. Just need to remember all those signs now.

Freddie is doing really well and is 6 months old in 9 days! He is so funny and full of character. He has 2 little friends who he plays with (more like steeling toys off each other). One girl we met is also an IVF baby born a day after him and we have all become good friends, its nice to share the journey with someone else who understands the start of it too!

Well I am back to work in 5 weeks and it has gone too fast. I had a staying in touch day the other day and found that nothing had changed much apart from the surroundings.

Take care all
Hugs to all those babies

Hi wishful! Find me on facebook under Tia H then e then r then r then e then l then l.) A bunch of us are on there! Wow they have that many teeth already-crazy!

Angela: Hi there! What a big boy! I guess I'm a little skewed because Savannah was a preemie...she is now 6 months, 25 inches tall, and 13 pounds, 12 ounces. What about the rest of you?

Angie in hull: Thanks...she loves that bouncer...especially when Cello walks by and gives her a little spin around! That's awesome you are going to a sing and sign class. Ask the teacher to give you handouts of all the signs. If she won't, I'll email you some ;-) My class starts mid October...still working on the dates...may need to be a Saturday....deftones may possibly attend ;-)

Savannah just turned 6 months and is teething and biting everything...can feel teeth just below the gum, but we'll see when they come in. She is rolling over and sitting with support...can sit unsupported for a few seconds but that's it. Not crawling at all, but can scoot her body around a bit. She loves standing up with holding our hands and doing little dances. SO CUTE!! She loves our Labrador Cello-videos of them together on Facebook!
She started aolids at about 5 months and loves eating. She likes most everything, some things better than others...she has tried yams, peas, carrots, butternut squash, green beans, corn, artichoke, edamame, apples, bananas, pears, mango, cantalope and blueberries. Are your babies eating solids yet?

Don't you all just LOVE being Mommies? I was thinking, do you think we're just so grateful of our babies because we went through IVF, or do you think all Mommies -Mummies-for you in the UK ;-) feel this way? I thank GOD for my baby girl everyday!

SIDENOTE: To all you Mummies in the UK...the hubby brought home a cute Halloween onesie that says "I LOVE MY MUMMY" with a mummy on the front ;-)

Angie - can't believe you are going back to work already - that seems so soon ?? - are you going back FT - what chikldcare have you sorted for Freddie??

Tia - great to put a face to a profile name !! - savannah is just gorgeous - how premature was she ? we won't be doing anymore ivf - got my two little treasures and could not cope with the emotional and financial strains of another cycle - and am obviously getting even older !!!! - I too cannot even imagine life without my boys now and the long journey to get them seems to fade - but I will never forget or stop suporting others who are struggling

Angela - great to chat again - my old cycle buddy !!! - wow owne is a big boy - Benjamin was 19lb 8 and Samuel 19lb when they got weighed last which was about 2 weeks ago - that was at 7 months - they are both really long as well - 6-9 months trousers are too short - not actually measured them - am sure they do that at the 8th month check!!

AFM - teeth still coming through - sleep is hit and miss at night - some nights we both sleep through - others they wake for a feed - no consistency or pattern ! enjoying going to lots of mums and tots groups and generally sociallising with the boys - left them in the creche at the gym for the first time this week and didn't cry till I went into collect them !! - got to get rid of this baby weight - can't use the excuse that just had twins when they are 7.5 months old!! Been looking at childcare but don't think I will be going back to work - my job involved alot of driving and was quite stressful nad the cost of the childcare is not worth the stress .. so will just have to tighten our belts and stop going out for coffee and cake and holidays will be prob in UK and not some nice sunny destination ... I would live ion bread and jam though if needed
take care mummies

Hi Ladies,
Mind if I join you here? I had twins on April 7 (was due in May...). They're almost 6 months old now and they do so much every day! I was on the May babies board, but haven't had a chance to keep in touch since they've been born, but now that i'm back at work, I have way more time ;-)

Anyway, I have B/G twins (Bradley and Charlotte--we call her Charlie). Bradley just started rolling over earlier this week and Charlotte hasn't yet. Bradley did it in front of Grandma while I was at work, so I think Charlotte's just waiting for me to see her do it :-). They've been on solids for about a month now, started with some cereal, then integrated carrots, squash, sweet potatoes, peas, pears, peaches, bananas, apples, etc. They love the orange vegetables, hate the greenies!

I have a question for you all. Now that you've started with solids, what does your schedule look like for eating and naps? I feel like everything's a mess and inconsistent right now. Also, are yours sleeping through the night? Mine were pretty consistently, but have now reverted back to waking up around 3 a.m. and sometimes even midnight and 5 a.m. over the past few weeks. Any advice? They eat and go right back to sleep without fuss, but I feel like we should be moving toward sleeping through the night and not the opposite!

Carolyn - yes it has come round quickly. I had 7 months maternity and 3 weeks holiday, so only 5 weeks left. We couldn't afford the 9 or 12 months. The £120 a week has hit us hard with all our debts I'm afraid. I am going back full time but have requested flexible working so have changed my hours. DH works 3 evenings and 2 days so he will have Freddie 3 days and I will be home by 4 to take over and then 2 days nursery. We have found a lovely nursery and he is really sociable so it should be ok. The tax credits work out ok once you add the childcare as well.

Tia - we have got a book with all the signs and so we are just trying to use them now. Not always easy when he is easily distracted by others! I think all mums feel the same but maybe we just feel it a little bit more?

JG_379 - welcome to the thread. Congratulations on your twins, I love their names. I am not surprised you have had no time, I am in awe of twin mummys coping when I have struggled with one!

Freddie is 6 months next month and has been on solids for a while, his current feed pattern is:

7am 8oz formula
11am lunch and 2-3oz formula
2pm 7oz formula
5pm tea (usually porrige and fruit), a yogurt and 1-2 oz formula
7.15ish 8oz formula and bed

He has slept through since 10 weeks, he wakes up occasionally and I give him his dummy, stroke his head and then leave him to fall back to sleep. Maybe it will change when he goes in his own room soon.

Have you tried giving them water instead? Its meant to help break the habit. Maybe they are genuinely hungry though and it will get better as they are weaned onto solids more.

Freddie has just learnt to stay sat up on his own so it has taken the focus off roling onto his front which is good because he gets stuck and upset.

Carolyn aka Wishful: Thank you for saying Savannah is gorgeous...I think so too ;-) Your boys are so handsome as well. She was born at 34 1/2 weeks so 5 1/2 weeks early. What is a creche?? Is that like childcare? I know what you mean about no more excuses for all this extra weight. I'm definitely NOT one of those women who loses the weight right away. One of my breast is seriously bigger than her head...LOL! How long do you get maternity leave in the UK?

Angieinhull: That's great about the signs...just start with a few that you use all the time and use them repeatedly. SO when you're feeding Frddie, sign and say "eat" before giving him another spoonful. Some good ones are "eat, milk, all done, diaper change, mommy and daddy." Then you can add ones that are important to him. For example, with Savannah we use "dog" because she's in love with Cello, our Labrador. Also if I know she needs to poop, I'll sign "potty" and she understands and will go pretty much on demand. FUNNY! Was that too much information? ;-)

Welcome JG: Wow twins...what a handful. You and wishful are in the same boat. That's hard when they wake up often at night. How is your milk supply? I noticed that if I was stressed out or if I didn't eat or drink enough my milk supply was cut in half. I would pump to see how much milk I was getting. Just a thought. Savannah is 6 1/2 months and just last week started sleeping through the night...the first night she slept in her own room in her crib. If I would have known, I would have moved her there awhile ago...but I was afraid of SIDS. She has been on solids for a month. As far as schedules, Savannah goes to bed late...around 10pm and sleeps through most nights, others she will wake up around 3 or 4 to nurse.

9am nurses for 30 minutes
12pm nurses for 20 minutes and eats fruit (mango, blueberries, pears) mixed with rice cereal
3pm nurses for 20 minutes
Naps from 3-5pm
5pm nurses for 20 minutes and eats vegetable (yams, peas, butternut squash, green beans, edamame) mixed with rice cereal
8pm nurses for 20 minutes and eats either a fruit or vegetable
10pm nurses for 10-15 minutes then jammies and bed

Hi Ladies,
I would love to join you if you'll have me!
I remember many of you from cycling together in the past. I also read the April babies thread a few times, so recognize some of you from there. I have been off this site except for reading every now and then and catching up with some old friends. It is great to hear how well everyone's LOs are doing. I am not on face book so I hope that everyone will still be chatting on here. I love hearing updates!
Carolyn, I can't believe that your guys are 7.5 months already! Where has the time gone?
TIa, if I remember correctly from the april babies thread you and I had the same due date of April 19? I'm glad to see Savannah is doing so well after her early entrance!
JG, twins and working must certainly keep you busy! I look forward to hearing more about your two.
Baylorbear, I recognize your name from the IVF board.Congrats so on the birth of your son.
Sorry to those of you I have missed!
By the way - I love the names everyone has given their LOs!

I hope to do more personals as I spend more time with you ladies. In the mean time I will tell you about about my son. Andrew was born 10 days late. It was a fairly short labour and delivery but when he came out he had the cord 1x around his neck and when he took his first breath it was too big and he popped a little hole in one of his lungs. He had to go into the nursery and be hooked up to monitors and such. To let the hole heal we had to not touch him to make sure he did not get stimulated. He was on an IV for the first day, then the nurses started him on Formula the 2nd day and I got to start nursing him on the 3rd day. We came home on the 4th day and has certainly changed our lives forever!
I was worried that breast feeding wouldn't work because of our delayed start, but he nurses just fine and happily takes a bottle or the breast, will take formula if needed and likes both soothers and his thumb. Bottom line, he just likes to suck and isn't picky about what he's sucking! Because Andrew has just turned 5 months yesterday we haven't started him on solids yet. Despite Canada's lengthy mat leave I have returned to work part time. I can make more by working 3 days a week, so I have gone back early. My colleagues don't understand why I feel I had to go back, but I didn't share my infertility with them so they don't know as well as you all do exactly how much it cost me to get pregnant. Not to mention the fact that we really want Andrew to have a sibling and that will not be cheap either! We want to try soon so as long as solids go well at 6 months I will start weaning Andrew and pray my cycle starts up asap so we can the get the ball rolling on #2. I would love to be expecting again next spring! I loved being pregnant - what an amazing experience, hey! And I can't wait to have another little bundle of love as wonderful as Andrew is!
I thought I read at some point that deftones (am I thinking about the right person?) is a teacher and returned to work not too long ago, too. I am a teacher as well. How are you finding it, deftones? I think it would be very hard to go back mid-year and take over a class that someone else had been teaching for you. I am happy to be with my class right from the beginning of the year. Luckily my DS is sleeping through the night lately so even though I get up in the night to pump, I am still able to get an otherwise good night's sleep. I really could not have gone back to work right away! Those first few weeks were so tough!
Well I think I've rambled on enough. I look forward to hearing from all you wonderful and blessed mummies very soon!

Welcome Kim!! Where do you live? Yes Savannah was due April 19th-you have a great memory. She was 5 1/2 weeks early. Congrats on your baby Andrew. That must have been scary his first few days of life after he injured his lung. I'm glad to hear he's ok now. I also look forward to doing IVF again and I also LOVED being pregnant. IVF is so damn expensive, but well worth it. I went back to work about 6 weeks after Savannah was born, mainly because I had been on bedrest for 2 months and was a little stir crazy. The normal period of maternity leave here in the US is 3 months but I have my own business and was losing money not working. Now I work 2 days a week from my home clinic and it's working out great. Maybe we'll cycle together next Spring ;-) Are you on Facebook?

Hi TIa,
I'm in the Vancouver, BC area. So I'm north of you - a very long way north of you!!
I can imagine it was scary having Savannah arrive so early. I am glad she is doing well now.
I would love it if we ended up cycling togther. I thought maybe trying for #2 would seem less daunting, but so far I still seem pretty worried about it!
It must be nice to work from home. Who looks after Savannah while you are with clients?
I am not on Facebook, but since having Andrew I have started to think more about it. I just don't want students and parents trying to find me!
I have to go feed my little guy now - DH got him up and is teasing me about being on the computer not with my precious son!

Look forward to chatting with other mommies soon, too.
How was everyone's LOs first Halloween? DS was very interested in the kids at the door!

Take care everyone!

Hi All

How are your little ones doing? I can't believe how time flies and how much they change!

Freddie is 7 months old now and has 2 teeth, he is trying to crawl so much and sways back and forth on all 4's but always ends up going backwards! He is just so funny and chatty all the time. He rolled from one side of our room to the other today and was grabbing the coffee table leg. I think they may have to go away for a while lol!

Well, I am back at work it's been the best 7 months of my life and a new chapter is starting. He seems to love the nursery we have chosed (he had inductions last week).

Talk soon
