Hi Mia,

My RE said that we should refrain for 12 weeks??!!

I never got that far.... Anyone else??

OK, I went and pulled out my Embryo Transfer Discharge Instructions sheet... #2 is Refrain from intercourse or orgasm for the next 4-5 days.

I think DH & I waited until after the 1st beta... and then it was, well, carefully! We had a BFP... and the M/C was most likely chromosonal, like most are. Probably better to err on the safe side - but like we've all said and heard - there are regular women out there riding horses, snow skiing and having sex right after they conceive and their babies are just fine.

TOO MUCH INFORMATION - I think we'd all freak without it, but can definitely be one of the not-so-great things about IF tmt....

I like 4-5 days - even 14 days better than 12 weeks! YIKES!!

But, we all know we'll do it if we have to!!

Jackie - I see you are 28 days til start - r u doing IVF and where are you in your schedule now?? BCPs or no?

hi there

I was told to refrain from sex during tmt especially whilst the follies were growing just in case i happened to ovulate prematurely and also refrain after ET too.

According to my pg book sex is ok during the 12wk period, however due to my history (2 m/c) , they said it was wise to refrain just in case, which we have done, I'd rather go without than take a chance - plenty of years to make up

I didn't get a heartbeat after my first BFP and literally 24hrs previous we had sex and i had the big O - I have always wondered in the back of my mind whether it could done anything and I beat myself up about it for ages aftewards - but now going onto loads of baby sites, there is no evidence to say that sex/orgasms will do any harm.

The best advice i was given was don't do anything that you may later look back on and have regrets should something not go right.

OK, I'm really starting to get antsy now... I have been reading around the internet (bad girl, bad!!) and found that "depending on your cycle, menstrual period should return in about 3-6 weeks" - after D&C.

Umm... 6 weeks was FRIDAY. It's time to get this SHOW ON THE ROAD!! Help?!!? ugh.

I've been feeling weird little crampy-like things for the past couple of days... nothing like I'm used to with AF, tho. I usually have back ache/cramps. (Wonder if that is a clue that I might one day get back-labor - yeeoowwy!) I am a little bit worried that when AF does rear her ugly head she may be more evil than usual... and out stay her welcome!

I will start BCP on day 3 of my Feb cycle (around Feb 16-17).

Getting pretty excited to start, but I dont know how to update the list. I was supposed to start in Dec, but was pushed back. Do you know how to update the list??

Where are you at with your cycle? How close will we be?

Right now I am just counting down the days and trying to lose 10 lbs before I start. What about you??

You've definitely got a point there, Nims... better to err on the cautious side... even if sex/o doesn't make the difference, better to not have to worry and wonder....

I'm glad you're going to be getting started soon. Sorry you had to be pushed back...

bummer. I know that's hard, when you want to get rolling, but what's best for our bodies and babies, right?!

Actually, I'm waiting for AF and then will start BCPs on this round - I THINK!!! That's what my dr said, but when my nurse called to inform me that I was officially negative after the D&C, she said to call when AF showed and I asked ok, so we'll start BCPs after that? And she hesitated,... she said, well... we'll see. So, I have no idea if I'm really going to start BCPs this cycle or not. I HOPE so, but like I said, what's best for my body & my baby(ies!)

MIA --- OMG, are you serious?? that's REALLY you and dh???????? you guys look like you should be MODELS!!!!!

don't know why i'm "surprised" --- i guess i thought "beautiful people" like that only existed on tv and in magazines!!! ha, ha, ha!!! IVF and SEX (penis, or anything battery operated) -------- my RE says refrain after ET til beta/hcg......then if BFP --- IDEALLY wants none til 6 wk scan (which is ANOTHER 2 wks) -- or 4 wks in total (or about that...)....dh is all OMG

so i asked nurse and she says "doc on the conservative side - i hear patients talk about how they DID during that time and ends up ok".........

Hope --- ugh, the dreaded WAITING.....geeesshhhh, seems like we're all going thru hell (oh wait -- that's steph's work!! ha, ha) of somekind -- playing the waiting game!!! everything crossed that she'll rear her ugly head soon!!!!!

well, like i said earlier -- my beta/hcg didn't "double" - which has really thrown me into a tailspin to be honest......

trying SO hard to remain positive, but very scared........i should know tomorrow (end of day -- 4pm EST'ish) if the news is good or bad........i SWEAR i FEEL more preg each day.......this is such an insane emotional rollercoaster!!!

had a family event we were off to earlier today that kept us away/busy most of the day --- a good thing i guess, kept my mind off the obvious.....

to all my other lovelies i missed -- SORRY, my review only goes back so far and you gals have just been too busy this weekend!!! (LOVE IT)!!! i'll be touch & go tomorrow -- not as active as my usual self cuz i've got to meet w/ auditors for some testing and i think they will be sitting w/ me at my pc ----- which means i won't be able to play.......AND - at some point, i have to run to dr's office for bloods --- which is a 2 hour round trip too!!! going to be a busy-busy day for me tomorrow ladies.....so as much as i'd rather be HERE -- i may be a bit scarce tomorrow (SUCKS).... but i WILL, WILL, WILL (wether you like it or not) ---- post my bw results as soon as i get them.....

I guess Mia, Jackie and Nims left me...

I'm rarely ever on here when others are - and rarely for such a long time! DH left this afternoon to take the DSSs back to their mom, so I've got the house to myself - woohoo!!

Angie - Hun, don't fret over those numbers... they will get there!!

Double beta dust for you, my dear!! How r u feeling otherwise? Any M/S yet?? Glad the headache is gone. Hopefully it will stay gone so you can stay away from the Tylenol.

Chriss - I know you're feeling like you're gonna get a visit from AF, but here's hoping she decides to visit me and Steph instead!!!

BUT.... if she is determined to visit you, I'm glad you're at least ready for her. And if she does, maybe we will be going thru this next month together!

But probably Steph before us, that is since she doesn't have to wait for another cycle! Have you talked to your RE about the plan of your cycle yet? Will you do BCPs? That's what I'm waiting for - AF then 3 wks of BCPs, another AF (which is the greatest, since the last 2 I had after BCPs were like 2 days and ultra-light!) then on to my injectables. Oh, and I have trouble keeping up with the time zones too.. I can tell you this, if you're in NY, we're in the same zone, sister.

Steph - I'm doing an AF dance for you girlfriend!! And hoping all this jumping around will trigger mine!! I am totally confused with all the IUI talk you guys have going on.. but do I understand you correctly, that you might be able to add some scans to your protocol that could help you along? Is that an additional part of the plan, then, not regularly included?

Becky - How's the painting coming along? Hopefully not too many more coats! Stubborn walls!! Lovin' your cheeky monkey foot massager!! My DSS (12) would LOVE that. He is really into monkeys these days (go figure) - Actually, the monkey that bowed to you (hehe) is a big favorite of his. Now he wants to make banana smoothies every day! I think he'd grow a tail and swing from the rafters if he could!

Good luck tomorrow on your first day at work!! Don't let 'em take your stapler.

Jen1d - So sorry you're going through these emotional times. But if you gotta cry, you gotta cry... I'm thinking of you and praying for you, sweetie. Hope FIL's surgery/op goes well. Safe travels to visit him and on to Barcelona.

Stephjim - Wow... only 3 more days till IUI! Do you have to POAS and/or do you have scans?? I'm still learning about the IUI stuff. Here's for you on Wed - though I'm sure I'll be back before then... just a little early to get 'em goin!!

Thanks to EVERYONE for your thoughts and encouragement re: my sister. Unfortunately, I think she has shut her own door regarding IF tmt. Her DH will be 51 next month and has a DS (18yo) from his first marriage. He (grrr) doesn't want more children and I think she feels that she missed her window. I try to encourage her, even offered to donate eggs if she wanted them (we're close, it's cool) but she's a stubborn one (not unlike her sis). I pray for a miracle pregnancy for her constantly. Unfortunately, we can't make our loved ones do what we think they should. Please keep her in your prayers - and my other sis too (4 m/cs and a crappy husband who needs to get with it or get going! - she's 44 and wants a child). They (along with my other 2 sis - yes, that's 5 girls) have been totally supportive during my tmt... but I feel so bad for the 2 that want but don't have. I worry it is harder for them to see my happiness as well as tears...

And one more thing (I promise) before I go... since you've probably heard quite enough from me today... someone asked about the gonal-f shots... I read (tho I don't remember where) that shots in the thigh MAY cause less risk of OHSS. I had high estrogen levels, risk of OHSS my 1st round and did most in the tummy. 2nd round, I did them in the thigh. Estrogen in the normal range - BUT, my meds were reduced since I responded so well to the drugs, 21 eggs R1 and 17 R2. Probably the more likely reason... but for what it's worth, I'll still be doing them in the thigh in R3.
