hey girls
Katie had her pediatrician appointment yesterday and we've been advised to do a lactose challenge on katie i basically have to put her back on a regular formula and on the third day start taking poo samples which i need to keep in my fridge(i know how disgusting) so they can test for sugars and other things and depending on the results from the test and whether or not katie responds badly from the lactose will depend on what happens but either way he says to put her on solids to keep the weight gaining and so i can cut down the amount of feeds shes having because they are so time consuming. Although it would be nice if it came back that yep she has the intolerance and then i would definately know what the cause is but at the same time i want tests to come back negative i wouldn't have a clue what to feed a kid that can't have any lactose in their diet so i'm hopeing she hasn't got it and shes just been incredibly fussy and when we get on to solids she will sort her self out but other than that Katie is doing well and still is a happy calm baby that i love to bits
Sassy glad you had time to pop on and tell how you are going its good to hear
sorry have to run bub is up and has done poop so i need to change her she had her needles the other day and the rotavirus medicine they gave her is giving her bad nappy rash sp i don't want to leave her to long

We for sure remember her! Glad she is doing well. That is what I did, forgot my password, and it would not reset so I had to create a new name!
The girls have not been napping well today Dunno if it is still because of the shots or what. They also are wanting to eat at weird times...not following their schedule whatsoever!
Rio thanks for passing on WaitingforMia's post glad to see all is going well to be honest i thought something awful had happened and thats why she was no longer posting so it's good to see Mia is here and all is well
WaitingforMia Great to see all is well we'd love for you to come back when you can we'd love to here how you have been and how your finding mummyhood.
Katie starts her lactose challenge test tommorrow it's not good knowing if she is intolerant that i'll be putting her in a great deal of pain deliberately but i guess it's the only way to know and besides i'd rather have it ruled out and be able to give her lactose which is definately necessary for good growth and development so wish me luck or katie should i say that i put her back on a normal formula and she drinks it like a champ with no problems
Everyone is so quiet things definately get busier with little ones
chat soon JOMAEXXX
Rio- thanks for the news! I had been sending PMs to her from time to time, but with no reply- I was worried, too- but Mia is here and we are so glad to hear it! Congrats Misty- AKA WaitingFor!!!!
Misty- what is Mia's BDay? we've missed you!!
Hi Girls! Rio- I am so glad to hear about Waiting for Mia. I too, thought the worst when she disappeared. It was funny to me to read the line, "I have a 4 month old". It seems like just yesterday we were doing the shots, hoping and praying...and I still can't believe I have a 6-month old! That's right ladies...today is Abby's 6 month birthday! I cannot even believe it! Last week she weighed 13pounds 4 ounces and she is 24.5 inches tall. 25th percentile for both height and weight, and that is based on her real age. Her adjusted age is just 3 1/2 months. Gosh, can you imagine if she had gone full term??? She'd be the size of a toddler by now! Anyways, I'm jealous of everyone who has started solids. Our doc wanted me to wait a little longer because of the recent surgery. I just want to get some real food in her to see if it helps the awful reflux she has. But maybe the GI specialist we see next week will let me start them. I am definitely going to ask. Other than that, there's not much news here. Her diaper rash is finally under control. She has figured out how to roll over from tummy to back, but usually only does it when she's mad. She makes these funny high-pitched ear-piercing noises that she thinks are hysterical, but doesn't really coo much yet. It's funny because it seems like she hits some milestones at her real age, which makes her a little advanced considering she's a preemie, but then there's other milestones she's hitting that are much more in line with a 3 1/2 month old. I try so hard to keep her on track and everyone tells me to just relax about it, but I don't want her to be too far behind. I guess I just have to keep reminding myself that the poor kid was 3 stinkin months early and she's really only a 3 month old! But it's hard sometimes.
I have to say that I can't wait for this summer! Last summer I was on bedrest and the 2 summers before that I was working and traveling out of state almost every week. I'm anxious for this one to come so that I can take her to the beach everyday!
Speaking of not working...I am going to have to go back one of these days. I have been thinking a lot about completely changing careers. I have become obsessed with the medical industry and really want to go to nursing school, but it would take 4 years and then I'd be starting a new career at age 40!!! That might be a little too late. So now I'm contemplating other medical careers...maybe a tech of some sort. I haven't talked to my family about it yet. They might laugh at the thought considering my age. I just really think I would enjoy being a nurse. I don't know.
Sorry for all the rambling, and thinking "out loud". Guess I just have a lot on my mind this morning.
corny: Brooke sounds a lot like Abby. She does the high pitched squeals rather than talk but I suppose that is their way of talking? Abby is 6 months! GOSH! And yes, she is a big one! Seriously, mine are almost 25 inches...well wait, mine are only 6 months lol. I forget we had ours around the same time. As far as solids...it helps ours very little with their reflux because it is still watery. Baby food is just watery! But I hope it helps her. I think it will get better for us once it is more dense food. Congrats on tummy to back! Mine pretty much just fall over. I can not tell if it is on accident? And yes, you are right, remember she is 3 months! However, if she is advanced in some areas that is great! I think they just want them to hit their milestones by their corrected age. As far as a job goes, if you want to do it DO IT! Who cares how old you are?! I went to nursing school, dropped out because it was so hard lol. Then went to teaching elementary and loved it! But there are a lot of things out there for you...you could do a tech (takes blood pressure, weights, etc before the doc comes in and that is only two years). Are you just wanting to do nursing because you get to wear scrubs? lol. I keep telling Nick that I want to go back to school to be a dental hygienist. They make $50,000 a year working PART TIME! Can you believe that!? I think I may do that later down the line...I want the scrubs hahaha
I need help ladies! Brooke is rolling onto her tummy in her crib. I would not be alarmed BUT she buries her head into her mattress! I flip her back onto her back but she looks at me then screams like WHAT did you do that for!??! I thought she was doing it only when she was mad and screaming but I witnessed it in person today when I napped with them in their room. I thought she was just on her side but then I got up and looked at her and nope, tummy she was! UGH. Kenzie is still only going to her side which I do not mind.
Also, 3.5 hours is working for us so far! Naps are getting there I suppose?
Tonight I am making them cry it out! I did it last night. They are super tired from doing it but I am really tired of getting up in the middle of the night and they are 16 lbs for gosh sake! They can go at least 8 hours without eating! I will still feed them at 10PM.
Sorry it's been a long while since I posted but we have been sick, sick, sick. First Declan got a cold which DH and I caught, then his cold turned into an ear infection. Then I guess I brought home the stomach bug that sidelined DH and I for at least 4 days. I am thankful that Declan didn't get that one. We ended up shipping him off to grandma's since neither of us could care for him. This week is off to a better start. DH still has a nasty cough, but the rest of us are ok.
Declan ate his first cerel this weekend. We are stoked! He makes such funny faces when he eats, kinda like it tastes bad, but then eats it anyway. If he continues like this we will add stage 1 veggies next week and see how those go. I am so glad he is a good eater! He is also sleeping through the night most nights. Occasionally he does want a feeding during the night but at least he eats fast and goes right back to sleep. I am getting more rest now and that is cool. He is also able to play by himself for longer periods of time in his Baby Einstein or on his playmat which is nice. And yes, we let him watch cartoons on occasion..... He has about a 10 min attention span for that. Overall, he is beginning to be quite good company!
Suga - Don't know what to tell you about the rolling over. Declan is starting to try but can't seem to do it yet. I would ask your pedi. I am pretty sure that the rule is if they flip themselves over, not to worry but you should check it out.
cornybaby - You should go to nursing school if that is your calling!!!! Who cares if you will be 40 by the time your are done. You are going to be 40 anyway, right. Might as well be doing something you love. Glad Abby is doing so well. Her blog pictures are adorable!
Jomae - How did the lactose challenge test go? I hope all is well.
Katie - Sounds like Parker is doing great! How is he liking the veggies?
Sassy - Awesome to hear from you! Glad the triplets are doing well. What are their names?
Loopie - How are the swim lessons going? I want to take Declan this summer since we have a pool and it's never too early to learn safety. Does Pulman like it?
Well, I am half asleep while I write this! But last night, well, I just pray it gets better...it does get better right?!?!
Here is a little summary of last night for those who care:
Brooke woke up at 2:30AM and I let her cry. I did console her after she cried for 5 minutes (and I mean CRY...like I was murdering her!) then she passed back out after 7 minutes of crying total. She did wake up and whimper every so often but for the most part she was out.
Mackenzie woke up at 4AM and wow, I thought she was dying. She cried for 5 minutes I went and consoled her. Then she cried for another 10 minutes, I went and consoled her..etc, etc. She cried for almost 30 minutes!!! I was about to give up because I though, well maybe she really is hungry...but I did not! She passed out.
However, Mackenzie crying woke up Brooke off and on and she cried as well. She was in and out of sleep crying. So I probably went back to bed at 5AM? So awake from 2:30 to 5AM makes me really tired!!!
They ate more at breakfast though and took a loooong nap. Like 2 1/2 hour nap! So I went back to bed with them. They just ate and are down for their next nap. They also waited 4 hours between feeds! They did not eat as much this last feed so I am sure it will only be 3 1/2 hours before the next feed. Anyways, I hope tonight is better. I hope Mackenzie does not cry for as long....
Suga- I am sorry about the nighttime troubles still. I sure hope it gets better soon for you. As far as the rolling over on the tummy thing, I was terrified when Ella did it too. I was trying to get her to stay on her side, tried a positioner and all, but she wanted to sleep on her tummy, just like I do. It is funny, when she is really tired and I put her down, she kicks up her legs and immediately rolls over and out she goes. My only saving grace is that, first, she is out of the risky age for sids, and second, I have the monitor that detects breathing. If I didn't have that, I would be sleeping in her room too.
I saw Brooke and Mackenzies pics on photobucket, they are adorable!
Gecko- I wonder if Ella and Declan have the smae baby einstein, she has the activity jumper I think it is called. She loves it. Especially the piano on it, I think she is just about to realize the chair spins in it and a whole new section of toys will be available. I am so sorry declan was sick, that is tough. Thank goodness Ella's cold was not bad and was over quick.
Corny- So glad to here abby is doing better. What a strong and brave little girl you have! And I say go for the career change if it is your calling. Who cares how old you are, I took college classes with people older than forty who were changing careers.
Jomae- How did the lactose challenge go? I hope she wasn't in any pain, but hopefully you finally got some answers.
Waitingformia- Thanks for sending the message via rio...hopefully you will get a new username and come join us again soon!
Katie, sassy, loopie, rio- I hope all of your little ones are doing well, I love the photobucket pics, man we have one cute group of babies!
asf- Ella is doing great, such a good baby. We went to a b-day party last night for her only friend really, he turned one yesterday, I can't believe it. Ella stayed up so late at the party and did great. She lights up the room everywhere she goes.
I am still on standby for my next ivf cycle. I am having a polyp removed on march 12 and it looks like I will be cycling in April. Start stims on 4/10, er/et with fresh TESE week of 4/20 (my b-day week, so maybe it's good luck!) I will keep you all posted.

Michele: I think I have the same activity Baby Einstein. Mine LOVE it! I got a Johnny Jump up as well and they love it. Good luck with your next transfer!!! Brooke does good with the positioner so that is helping a lot. When does SIDS reduce? I just fear because she buries her head in the mattress.

Hey Girls
How are we all?
Gecko and CtMicchelle thanks for asking after katie i'm almost positive the test are going to come back positive i have to collect one more poop sample today and then send them off but since putting her back on a regular formula her bums red her poos are explosive and stringy she can't lay still for a feed she has her cough back and has very broken aleep again which are all signs of a lactose intolerance or milk allergy atleast at this point shes still wanting to drink although she seems to be getting fussier and fussier with her bottles and i guess the more lactose she has the worse that will get so hopefully will get the results before we get to that point and are worrying if she's dehydrated or not. But so far sh'es not to uncomfortable thankfully.
i gave katie a lick of my toast the other morning its so funny she licked and licked like i had given her enough to last a year i just think its funny how much she licked for the amout she had i plan on starting her on solids after her intolerance is diagnosed which should be by the end of next week
suga i don't envy you right now with having two little beans to get up to especially seeing they wake each other making your job harder so hopefully they sort themselve shortly and give you a full nights sleep
Hey Corny Glad to read Abby is doing better with the diaper rash and yes don't worry about what she can and can't do yet shes had a busy little life so far and as things continue to get better for you both she'll catch up if she needs to. they do say all these milestones are averages and the differences between kids can be quite considerably. Just as an example my friends little one walked when she was 15months old and my boy walked when he was just 10 and a half months so theres a big difference and it shows how big a variance there can be.
Joame: They have not even tried to switch her formula before they know the results? Like to Nutramigen or something where there is no lactose in it? That just sounds odd to me, but I am no doctor! I hope the test gives you some sort of result so you know what you can/can not do! Would this mean she would be allergic to it forever? (ok, that may be a stupid question but I dunno)
hey mommies! I have been reading and trying to keep up with everyones progress. Things are just crazy here. DH got laid off last month, severence and benefits end tomorrow, and we are still having to deal with the false alligations his ex filed with the attorney general in texas. We hope our attorney can have that fixed soon. We are paying her 2k a month so things are tough.
Gavin is doing fine. He's a runt. At 17weeks he was only weighing 12lbs. He is in the tenth percentile for his weight. But I'm sure he will catch up. we took him to Mardi Gras tuesday. Dh and I had more fun but he did fine. Speaking of which, we took him to Dallas last weekend and he traveled like a champ!!! I saw pics on photobucket & all the babies are so precious. I will try and get one of Gavin Posted soon.
Jomae what are the lactose results?
Loopie-is your little one doing the swimming lessons? How's that working
?
Rio-how are things?
Suga-it seems as though you are still doing a great job with the twins. Keep up the good work.
Gotta run. Posting from iPod while nursing and Gavin is in need of a burp. I will try and post more often. Have a wonderful weekend with your babies !!!!
