Cheryl

Glad you're starting to feel more at ease - it's easy giving advice and help, but very difficult taking it isn't it?

I've got another scan next week and I can't wait - I am obviously keeping everything crossed that Little One is fine and progressing nicely. I can't wait to see her/him again.

I think this is going to be one long w/e!!!

hi girls,
hope you're all ok. wanted to wish you luck little p for next week. was really sorry to hear that one of the little ones didnt make it, but am glad to hear you so positive and excited about your gorgeous one who's still there and growing daily!

wishing all the rest of you a successful few weeks until you join us on the second trimester thread. i do feel less worried now about the viability of this pregnancy, but i guess some other anxierty will take its place soon. for those worried about symptoms or lack of them, i felt very little until 6.5 weeks and then the nausea kicked in. reassuring as it is, i would honestly not advise you to wish for too much of it as the last nine weeks have been spent mostly in bed for me!! roll on the pregnancy glow!!

Can't give you any advice sorry just sympathy. Lovely to have you on here - you tested just before me I think. The sickness must be awful BUT congrats because it's a fantastic sign and I was reading in a book yesterday that said it means you're less susceptible to miscarriage so whilst you're suffering you should also feel relieved. I also read that dry ginger biscuits are great for sickness but I really wouldn't know as I've had none yet (everyone thinks I'm mad but I'd love to feel such a definitive sign of pregnancy). How many scans have you had? Congrats on your twins - that's great!

Hi Cheryl,
I'm one of those who wants nausea as well- just to reassure myself this is really happening, but at 11 weeks( I'm 11w today) I doubt the nausea is going to materialise!
Guess I should count my lucky stars that I'm not bent over, but one's always so greedy!!
And another thing is like Af, this nausea during pregnancy is hereditary to a large extent- thats what my clinic says..so as my mom didnt have nausea I'm not likely to either!!
you take care and I hope your scan goes perfectly!
when is it??
My next scan is the nuchal sca on 6th.. nervous abt what they'll find there..

Oh Smita - I could kiss you - I didn't realise you weren't having nausea and it's such a relief that someone who is through their first trimester successfully isn't - such a reassurance - thank you, thank you.

Don't worry about the nuchal scan (listen to me - can't take my own advice though!!) - it's going to be another step along the journey and will serve as a great source of relief I'm sure. Even if there is anything with the scan that you're not happy with at least you're armed with even more knowledge and you'll be with the experts who can reassure you. Of course when (being positive) I get to that stage - I'll be a jibbering wreck and will no doubt feel very silly reading this back!!

This site is so great - I would go mad if I couldn't have these conversations on here - fantastic - by the time my DH gets home, I'm all chilled out and not at all neurotic (which would drive him mad) so it's great for our relationship too - he's very pragmatic and can't cope with me wanting the answers to everything NOW! He thinks I'm handling everything really well - ha ha, little does he know the hours of blind panic and endless questions I post on here and the secret 'what to expect when expecting' book hidden in the bathroom!

I wouldn't swap this for the world though,

Hi all

Just wanted to check that everyone is ok. I do hope that you are feeling more reassured Cheryl. Just to let you know, my friend had no symptoms at all just wonderful glowing pregnancies (both times) and she has two beautiful boys. I do know where you are coming from though - with everything we go through to get here, sometimes extra reassurance is what we want, but hang in there and stay positive.

Big hugs to all Mums-to-be

Hi everyone (Again-sorry to keep butting in to your thread!)

Smita - Sorry, but I had to laugh with what you said about nausea. Although I did have mild nausea from 4 wks it seemed to kick in more starting my 11th week, and its still here at 15.5 weeks!! (Not really bad though, compared to some women). I cant believe you are 11 wks!! Time flies!

Cheryl - Ive also got 'What to expect when your expecting' I think its really good.

Good luck with your scans next week! Will be thinking of you all.

Take care

hi there, my nausea has been hideous from 6.5 weeks and remains awaful at 15.5 weeks, but unfortunately nothing much has helped me. i know the following have been really helpful for others though, so give them a go.

travel sickness bands available from pharmacies which you wear on both wrists.

having a couple of plain dry biscuits before you get up. i eat "rich tea." i also sometimes eat just a plain toasted pitta bread which sometimes helps.

eating little and often throughout the day.

sipping either peppermint tea or hot water with either a slice of lemon or a slice of fresh ginger.

acupuncture can help.

if you're into homeopothy a couple of remedies might be useful. i think above all though you need to get as much rest as possible as its often worse when you get tired.

now i have tried all of these and none has taken the nausea and vomitting away, but occasionally they have alleviated it. at my very worst (vomitting 15 times in one day), i got some anti nausea pills from the doctor, which helped a little.

it is really hard but if you can try and foocus on something else other than the nausea it feels a bit better. now i accept that i'm going to feel hideous for a few hours every day and just hope that i at least get some part of the day when i feel normal.

best of luck.

HI girls!!
Minnow, having a rough time of it huh? Poor you! and kim, it started at 11weeks huh? some days I try to see if my toothbrush can provoke some nausea  by trying to push it deeper into my mouth while brushing-but no go!!
One of my close friends who concieved normally said she threw up even before she went into the delivery room!!
I'm sure thoso with nausea aren't happy to hear that!!
An old wives tale in India is that the more you throw up, the more hair your baby has!! :?
I just hope its an old wives tale!!Want baby to have lovely hair!!
Cheryl, theres absolutely no need for thanks honey..we're all here to share!!nausea or lack of it!!
Wheres jacs gone??hope youre ok Jacs and not in pain..
Little P,How u be?? after posting yday abt trying to be more positive, I have been, but niggling doubts- u know the closer 12 weeks comes, the more worried I get abt not finding a heartbeat on the 6th or some such miserable thing- have nightmares abt having fresh bleeding at times- this spotting thing is sure on my brain a lot!!
I just hope that if nothing obvious is happening on the outside, then it means that nothing wrong is going on inside..
Yes, its amazing I've come this far in this journey.. but hey i've had the best women cheering me on!!

kim - don't apologies for 'butting in' it's great to hear from you - it's always a relief when someone further down the road can share experiences.
Smita - relax, you're going to be just fine. Is there any acupuncture or anything you can have to calm you down? Might help take your mind off things
Yes where is Jacky gone - Where are you Jacky - we miss you!
Little P - I have finally managed to relax - something clicked in my brain and I am truly fine about everything. I was sitting quietly earlier and it suddenly struck me that this pregnancy is no different from my life - none of us know how long we've got - what tomorrow will bring - where we'll be in 4 months time etc and yet it doesn't stop us enjoying life and making plans for the future - we don't normally fear some big jinx. Therefore I'm just goiing to enjoy being pregnant, plan for the future and not worry about anything because that's what I normally do and yet nobody's given me any life guarantees so it's my brain I'm realigning and I refuse to be in a panic any more!! I love being pregnant!

Hello there

Just a quick question - is anyone struggling to find something enjoyable to eat. I find I have to eat little and often to stem the nausea, but then I get this horrid taste in my mouth - now I'm bored with food and don't know what to eat, some food even gives me stomach ache at the moment.

Ah well, probably just the indecisive hormones

Hope you are all well.
