IrishHope - Thanks for the info. I think I should be okay to go to Brigham's as I am still over 2 weeks out. That is scary though. I hope everything is nice and clean by the time I get there. I think it is better to be safe and than sorry in this case. It is great you get to go to the other clinic.
That's great news about your sister! I am big on dates and feel that it must be something for you to be going through this at the same time she is about to "blow." :)

Happy V-Day Ladies

Post by courtney »

Thanks for the welcomes and words of encouragement! I really believe that unless a woman is going through/gone through IVF, they just dont understand. So everyone's posts and knowledge means the world!

Irish...seems to me the flood may have happened for a reason, I would be just fine with Harvard!!!!

I go for my injection teaching on the 22nd. It wasnt until I started reading this board that I found out shots go in the tummy...which totally freaks me out!!!! :? Are there any alternatives, I have seen thigh and arm...

Also, what about working out? DId anyone continue their normal routine or take it easy?

Everyone have a wonderful V-Day, try not think about IVF too much...easier said than done!!!!!

Hi ladies! Happy Valentines Day! Just a quick update and then I have to get to work, but I just got back from my u/s. I have 6 follies, some about 18mm and the rest about 13. I will get the call later today, but the nurse thinks I will trigger Sat for Monday retrieval.

Hi Ladies..

Happy valentine's day!

cornybaby - thats great! All the best for the ER.

courtney - for the subQ you can use the thigh and arm as well but I haven't tried. So far the tummy is working out ok but maybe I will be hunting for new spots when I have take 3 shots a day! I can promise that atleast the lupron won't be bad at all. I am yet to start the others. Regarding exercise - I was told that once I start stims I should limit my exercise to walking only just to be safe and not twist the ovaries etc.. (not that I exercise a lot even otherwise  ).

Have a great day!

So sad today :(

I need some input. I went in this morning for B/W and U/S and I have 13 follies on my left and only ovary. I have been thinking all this is wonderful!! My body is doing well with this. Well the nurse just called and told me everything was the same, keep up with the same meds.. And HOPEFULLY they will grow by saturdays scan... and if not they may cancel my cycle!????? I'm on cycle day 9 and day 6 of the meds!! I thought that I was doing good and now I"m a crying mess over here!!!!

Help anyone?

JustJenis, I am so sorry. I wish the DR had been telling you all along that it wasn't progressing as hoped. After just taking myself on this emotional roller coaster (worrying about only having 6 follies on the one side), I can feel your pain. You have to tell yourself that this will happen when it should happen. It's a delicate balance for all of us between hope and awareness of all that could go wrong. We'll be thinking about you. I hope those follies grow. But, truly, it is in your best interest to do the full IVF when the time is right.

THanks Kate.. Your words of encouragement mean more than you'll ever know. Each morning when I would go in I'd ask and the doctors said it was looking good.. That everything was looking on track. But then this afternoon my nurse told me that hopefully they will grow for Saturdays scan or we'll have to do another protocol. *SIGH*

Seems like I"m getting 2 sides of a coin that doesn't know which way to fall. I still take teh stims for 4 more days.. Ya know? *sigh*

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!! DH and I have dinner plans tonight at a great restaurant so I can't wait to get out of here today! He got me beautiful flowers sent to work, but I have to admit with all that we are going through I am not sure flowers even scratch the surface!! Now if he could take an injection or 2 for me ... Anyway ...

Jenis - don't worry yet. Anything can happen in the next few days. Did they tell you how big the follicles are measuring? I am at about the same day as you with the stims and today mine weren't even over 10mm, but they wanted to stim me a bit slower this time so I don't over stimulate. So just see what happens on Saturday - I know, easier said than done.

kbat - you mentioned you are goin fast - when do you expect to have ER?

cornybaby - sounds great!!! ER will be so soon!

courtney - welcome! I have found the shots much easier in the belly, the legs have been painful for me. But everyone is different. As far as exercise, I was told it was fine during stim, just nothing too crazy - I do about 45 minutes of elliptical or bike and they said that was fine. However, I have to tell you that by the end of my last cycle I was barely able to walk on the treadmill because my ovaries were very uncomfortable!

Kate - what happened at RE today? What did you decide to do this cycle?

As for me, still stimming. Follicles growing slowly but that is what they want for me right now, for more control. I had acupuncture today, and it was great - so relaxing! She did this thing she never did before - put an herb called mugwort or moxa (I know, I kept thinking Harry Potter) on my lower abdomen and then lit it with incense - when I started to feel the heat, she took it right off. It was odd but was supposed to help send energy to the uterus and I will take all of that I can get!!! She also recommeded the Secret - both book and movie.

Have a great night!!

RunnerKate - I hope you keep going. You may have already said this but how many days have you been stimming? When I was stimming, I had 6 follies after 5 days, 2 days later I had 11, and 2 days after that i had 14. Also I had lots of CM while stimming. The nurse told me it was normal.

I had my ET today. Everything went ok. Now I just have to wait.

LB.. that's what has me confused. When I go in they said I'm right on schedule. ALL 13 follies are 10mm. That's 3 new follies from just 2 days ago. So something has to be growing. Ya know?

I thought I was doing ok till she said that :(

Aims... Good luck in the next 2wks. Do you have anything to keep you busy? Are you doing bed rest for any amount of time? *HUGS* Here's to your BFP!!!

*HUGS*

Hi Everyone- Happy Valentine's Day.

Kate- Did you speak with the Dr today? I hope everything worked out!!!

Aims- The 2ww- how exciting. I am happy that the transfer went well. How are you feeling??

Jenis- Why would the nurse think of canceling the cycle when 13 have developed. This is the first trial with these drugs- they may need time to grow!!! Praying that your follies progress for Saturday.

LB- a night out for dinner- enjoy. I am jealous, dh won't be getting home til 9 tonight. I have to say my joe is very into the secret. we have the dvd's and the whole philosophy is inspirational; it truly does help to prioritize your goals.

Corny- It is great that your retrival will happen Monday!!!

Courtney- I have to tell you I was so freaked out about the shots. I mean anxiety for a whole weekend- thought I would puke. Now I only started the small (lupron) shots, but the anxiety and anticipation was far worse than the actual shot. I hope that allevates some of your worry :D

It's really hard staying in bed but I have my laptop to talk to all you wonderful ladies and of course tv. I am feeling pretty good after the transfer. I had to take valium before the transfer, which made me feel like I'd been drinking! I am still sore from the retrieval though. My ovaries were really swollen. The follies were anywhere from 15-21mm.

Jenis - I would trust your doctor more than the nurse and keep the PMA - grow follies! Baby dust! That is a great number of follies!
Corny- more can show up! And it only takes one - keep the PMA!

Happy Valentine's to you all! I hope you all had a great day!!

Kate ~ WOW! Your hubby is SO sweet! How did everything go today?

Jenis ~ I feel your pain, girlfriend. Let me tell you what happened at my u/s b/w appt today. I have a low antral count (only starting with about 4 follies). I am on stim day 5. Apparently, my left side is "overachieving" while the right seems to be moving a bit slower (I think they saw 2 HUGE follies on the left with one smaller one and then 2 average sized ones on the right). My nurse scared me to death and made it seem like the doc would either be cancelling our cycle all together or trying to downshift to IUI. I was an emotional mess all day until the docs office called and said to continue my meds and plan for a recheck on Saturday. They made it seem like all systems are still go. It's very frustrating to get conflicting information. I would trust your doc at this point!

I sure hope you all have a great evening! Hang in there all!

Happy Valentines Day, Ladies!

I am sorry that I have not posted lately. Sounds like everyone is moving right alone. I had my nurse visit today and got my calendar. I will be starting Lupron 2/26, adding Gonal-F 3/7, adding Repronex 3/11 with my trigger being either 3/15 or 3/16. My ER and ET will be between 3/17 and 3/23 as we are doing 5 day blast (if they make it). Just wanted to give you all an update as I tend to get more excited once I get my dates

Jenis - Try not to worry and give your eggs more time...you'll be surprised...sometimes they have a growth spurt near the end :P

Welcome to the newbies! You will find much support here.

To everyone else - hope you all are enjoying your Valentine's Day!!!

Our BFPs are just around the corner. ***Baby Dust***
