Feb/Mar 08 Cycle Buddies

Post by Jill_n_Mark »

Hello Ladies!

It's been a while since I've posted. My first IVF was in July/Aug 07 and was BFN. I was very heartbroken and devastated so DH and I decided to take a break and get thru the holidays. So now we're in a new year and ready to TTC again :D

I called RE office today and will have my consult some time next week. I asked her when estimated time to start BCP and she said should be first of February. I don't have much to post right now, but I'm sure we'll have a great bunch of ladies here!

Lots of Baby Dust!

Count me in for a Feb/March cyle!! We're going to try this one more time and I think were done. Unless we win the lottery. I'm looking at the middle of March for my ER and ET. So let the fun begin! This can be so emotionally draining that it's nice to share the experience with other women experiencing the same thing. Good luck to all!

Can I join you girls? I'm really new to all of this, but I think that I'll fall into the same time frame (if I understand everything correctly). I'm waiting for AF so that I can start BCPs, etc.....that would be a March ER and ET, right?

Anyway, my name is Catherine and I'm 36. My DH and I have been TTC for what seems like forever. We actually started this mess in 2005 but had to quit because DH had a brain tumor that we had to deal with. Now that we have THAT under control, we are ready to go again.

I wish you all the best of luck and can't wait to chat more with you!

I am so glad someone started this thread - I had thought about it but was too lazy!! I had previously been posting on the thriving Dec/Jan thread, but my ER was cancelled and I really didn't have too much to add - they are having good success there, though so hopefully the same will happen here!!!

My summary - first IVF (blocked tubes) was December - stim was good and I had lots of follicles (30+) due to my PCOS - but we got to ER and they only got 1 egg. It fertilized with ICSI but stopped growing on the day of transfer, so we cancelled. RE thinks I have ovarian issue too, but said we would try 1 more time with a slower stim - I was high risk for OHSS last time so I couldn't trigger with hcg, had to trigger with Lupron, and RE wants to use hcg this time and avoid OHSS so we are going slower. If the same thing happens this time we are on to donor eggs.

I am currently on a rest down cycle with estrogen and progesterone, and when that is done and I get AF, I will start stims. So that should hopefully start around mid-Feb.

Looking forward to going through this with everyone here!!!

Hi Ladies!
I am so happy to see this thread started. I can't wait to start this cycle! The days can't go by fast enough.
This will be the second cycle for DH and me. The first gave a BFP which got us excited for a few days anyway. It was a chemical pregnancy. It wasn't the best way to start the holiday season but I feel great about 2008 and am hoping this time around works.
The first time around, I had 24 eggs, did ICSI on 17 on them, 12 fertilized and we implanted 2. Unfortunately, even with those high numbers, the quality wasn't good enough to freeze any so we are back to the beginning.
I have a dr's appt on Friday to get the details of this cycle and review what happened last time. I am hoping for AF this week. I go back to the dr about 3 weeks after it starts for a blood test and then can start Lupron. I'll do that for 10 days then cut the dose in half and add a menopur shot to my morning routine and a gonal-f shot at night. I am hoping ER/ET to be at the end of February/first week in March. But, really, what do I know? I just like to plan it out and pretend I have some control over this.
There was success with the ladies that I cycled with before on another thread and it really helped me to hear their stories and to keep me from going crazy. I look forward to cycling with you now!
Good luck to all!

Hello Ladies! I will be joining you for February, however I will be doing my final FET transfer praying harder than ever it works!

I did my first IVF in October = BFN, 1st FET in December = BFN and now onto my 3rd.

We seem to think the one in december took but didn't stick. I had a faint line and then a few days later nothing... We are trying a new protocol this time with 2 natural cycles and just using estrogen and progesterone in Feb. Let's hope this is what it takes to get that sticky bfp!!!

 See ya around!

Good Morning my fellow Feb BFPers!!! I'm so optimistic I know.. but hey.. I learned here.. that we are ALL BFP till someone PROVES we are not.

I was really glad to see this thread start and even more happy to know it was my time frame. I guess KNOWING that the ER & ET are coming are just a sigh of relief. To give you a very short summary... At 24 I had ovarian cancer.. Right side taken away. Well for the following 3 years after that I had tumor after tumor. So needless to say.. Christmas time for me has always been a "is it coming back this year?". BUT I still have the left ovary and by golly it's productive!! Never thought in a million years I'd love the words "you're normal" as much as i did!! LOL Ohh what a sound. So, needless to say I will be alittle on edge when we start the stims cause of course I don't want another tumor. But that won't happen.. I've already put my order in for a smooth ride LOL! After all that we found out last night that my DH's sperm are "shaped badly"??? Anyone heard of this? Apparently we have to now use ICSI as well. Which to me doesn't seem like that big of a deal. I mean heck.. help those boys get to where they gotta go.. Lord knows they won't ask for directions! haha! Seriously though, anyone heard of this?

Well.. I'm off for the wonderful Saline Sonogram.. OHHH yes! Lucky me. I'll check back in later.

*HUGS* to all my wonderful Feb Goers!
Really glad to see all of you on this road with me.

Glad to see this thread is growing already!

Jenis - my DH also has morphology issues (shape is off). They think it is because he drinks WAY too much caffeine, so they had him increase vitamins and decrease caffeine - the addict actually switched to decaf only, he has been a real trooper. It was too late for the first cycle (RE said it takes about 76 days to produce new sperm) but it didn't seem to be a big issue, they just want to have as many good-shaped options as possible. We had to do ICSI - also because he tested positive for ASA (anti-sperm antibody) which would make it hard for the sperm to penetrate the egg, but our 1 egg last time did fertilize, so they obviously got some normal-shaped ones. DH is still on decaf so hopefully we will have many more eggs this time and lots of good-shaped sperm to fertilize them!! I wouldn't worry too much about it - my RE does ICSI for almost everyone even if there is no male issue because he feels it is more effective.

With all of our issues, I sometimes can't help but wonder if DH and I weren't meant to procreate - but then I quickly dismiss that thought, I know we'll be great parents, it will just take a bit longer for us to get there, but it will be so worth it in the end!!

LB.. Thanks for the information and sharing with me. So they canceled your first cycle or it didn't implant? I'm sorry I'm confused on that part. They didn't say anything about what made it that way.. just that they want another sample in 2 weeks and if it's the same then we have to do ICSI. So much to learn and retain. I feel as though it's one thing after another.

One day at a time. Gotta do what has to be done.

Just an additional thought.. If they are doing ICSI would it matter the shape?

*HUGS*

Jenis - Our first cycle was cancelled after ER but before ET - we only got 1 egg at ER and they fertilized it with ICSI but it stopped growing so we didn't do ET. Disappointing but at least I didn't suffer through needless injections and the 2 week wait.

Shape matters even with ICSI because they only pick the best sperm (including best-shaped sperm) to inject, but with millions to choose from you have to imagine they can find a few good ones!!

Ahh gotcha! Here I was thinking it's no big deal and now I realize it's a huge deal. I think I liked it better when I was the only one broken lol! I had come to terms with my issues years ago.

Lets pray that it works and round 1 will be all we need!
