Hi Everyone..

Nic - That's awesome you are singing to your baby boy. I haven't decided whether I want to torture my little boy with my singing! I have some funny aches in the abdomen too but I have just been trying to get a little extra rest time in.

So, I am still have a sleeping issue. I ended up with only 4 hours sleep last night and then had to come into work and sit in a 3 hour inservice. How boring. Now I am just counting down the minutes until it's time to go home.

Hope everyone else is having a good day!

Jenn

happy thursday!

tin- thanks for the advice about the non-underwire bra...I wear underwire bras right now and they are very uncomfortable. I just don't want to buy a bra now and end up growing out of it in a month! well, I guess one bra won't be too bad.

jenn- i'm sorry to hear about your sleeping troubles...have you tried warm milk before bed? or it is more that you are uncomfortable? I have been sleeping with a body pillow since I got PG, and it really helps support my legs. they make special PG pillows that have contours for your tummy too but they are like 70$. do you have a name picked out yet?

niki- I get aches too, but i figure its from the uterus stretching. I have noticed significant growth in the last 2 weeks. and now i can feel the baby's movement, its almost uncomfortable!

I had an OB appt today, she listened to the heartbeat via doppler (what a handy little device huh?) my sono is next week!

God Bless!

Good Friday Morning Everyone!

Michele - DH and I decided on Cameron Robert Liam. I know it's a little long but we had reasons.

I haven't bought a body pillow yet but I have been sleeping with pillows between my legs and so it helps quite a bit. I think my problem is that I could only sleep on my stomach so I am trying to find other ways that are comfortable. I also haven't tried warm milk but I only like my milk ice cold but thanks for the advice.

How is everyone else doing this rainy friday morning?

Jenn

jenn- love the name! its not long at all. we haven't even really talked about names, we will just end up bickering about it. we are already arguing about who the godparents will be!
I used to sleep on my tummy too, but I had to stop after about 7 weeks. the body pillow helps me stay on my sides, but sometimes its a pain to have to flip the pillow over when you need to switch sides. I'll wake up on my back sometimes b/c i get too lazy to move the pillow.
is this yall's first? I know denise and sameera already have kids.
sears was having a massive clearance sale and I found some really cute onesie sets for like 5$! I only bought yellow and green since i'm not really sure if its a girl yet.
We haven't bought anything at all for the nursery either! I told DH we need to go ahead and set up a registry, I don't want to be on my feet for hours doing that when I get bigger!

God Bless!

Happy Friday ladies-

Jenn- Try to take a hot shower right before you go to bed and try to use a body pillow specially made for pregnancy women. I know i always sleep on my tummy but since tummy is getting so huge I have been taking a shower and using that pillow - it helps me with my sleep.

name is very very cute!!

chelly - you can go register and buy neutral color stuff that way when you do find out it wouldn't big to big of a deal if it turned out to be either.

I have decided on Nursery - i'm doing green room with different color polka dots - I found these really cute crib bedding from Target. it's creme with polka dots it's really cute.

well, alright i guess i should go do some work.

Michele - We already know who the godmother is but we are unsure of the godfather. I haven't started buying anything yet because my mom has been doing it for me. She is a shopoholic! I agree with you on the registry. I am going to do mine next Thursday with my best friend. I figure take the really experienced friend to do the registry with. She has 4 kids so I'm sure she will be a fantastic help.

Sameera - I like the polka dots. I think it will look awesome! I think I am going to have to break down and go shopping this weekend. I need to get a body pillow for sure and then who knows maybe a few extra clothes  We haven't decided on the nursery yet but I figure if I'm going to be on a shopping spree anyway I might as well make a stop at Home Depot and get some of their Disney paint sample brochures. They have quite a few great ideas for nurseries. I want to get started on emptying the nursery and taking down the wallpaper on the one wall. From the owner of the house before me. I am hoping i at least come up with a colour this weekend and then as soon as the walls are ready we can start painting. I want everything to be ready by the end of November. I already know that my shower is going to be on Nov 8th. A lot of my friends are nurses so they needed to book it off so my mom came up with a date that everyone seemed to agree with.

Well i hope you are all having a great friday and can't wait to hear some of your nursery and baby ideas!

Thanks all of you for your reassurance with the tummy aches. It resolved itself the next day, must have just been growing pains.

Sweetmonkey...I feel your pain with the sleep problems. For weeks I couldn't sleep either. It is better now and I am sleeping through the night again and feel human. I don't know how you feel about it but you could try benadryl. Its completely safe during pregnancy and it worked for me. I still take one every night just to be sure I stay asleep. My OB recommended it. The pillows just didn't work for me either, I bought a body pillow but threw it off the bed after about 30 minutes, it was just too big and in the way.

I decided today that I am renting a doppler. I am so embarassed to say that I had a completely neurotic episode 2 nights ago. I woke up in the middle of the night and was laying there thinking about how I hadn't felt the baby move much (if any) the previous day. Then I couldn't go back to sleep I was so worried. So, I got up at 4am and drove into work (not far away) and did an ultrasound to see the heartbeat. How silly did I feel!? Of course, he was just fine....moving around and looking much more cramped for space so he's getting bigger.....oh and he's still got boy parts...lol. At least I was able to go back to bed and sleep well after that. I'm thikning the doppler will help me through those times that I get overly worried.

Sweetmonkey....I absolutely love the name Cameron, its one of my choices but I think my DH is set on Kale. I think we should choose a "C" name though because all of our kids have names beginning with "C".

OK, everyone enjoy your weekend. I'm going to a baby sale then going fishing......then I have to clear out the mess in the study to make room for my hubbies kids when they come to visit.

Good Morning Everyone!

Hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was extremely busy so no shopping for me. On the little bit of down time I had to relax and put my feet up!

Nic - thanks for the advice. I might have to try that. The last 2 nights have been horrible. I hate getting no sleep on Sunday nights when its back to work on monday mornings. I really love the name Kale. If you really think you should have a C name then spell it Cale. I think the neurotic episodes are normal. I have had my last ultrasound so I don't know how I am supposed to wait until my OB appointment every month to hear the baby. How did the baby sale go? Did you find lots of awesome stuff.

Well, I hope everyone had a good weekend!

Jenn. I'm glad you like the name Kale, its good to know not everyone will be quite so negative about it.
I didn't end up going to the baby sale, it was further away than I thought and I honestly don't need a lot more stuff right now. At least not for the newborn-3 months stage.
My DH and I are checking out strollers. What kind of strollers does everyone think they're going to get? We can't afford one of those mega expensive deals like the bugaboo brand. I really like the travel systems because that worked so well with my son. I'm hoping to find one that reclines as flat as possible for naps and one that folds to the upright position, this makes lifting up to the car a little easier.

Hi Nic - Did someone tell you they didn't like the name Kale? I agree with you on the travel system. I am going on Thursday to do my registry with my best friend. She says there is an Eddie Bauer one that is really good and converts for all 3 stages. I'm really not sure about much else. My best friend said she is going to tell me what I need and then we will figure out the best kinds of things together. She has 4 kids so I know she will be a great help.

The only thing I seem to be having a problem with is the nursery. I can't seem to find what I want. I kind of wanted to do a Mickey Mouse theme but for some reason i can't find anything mickey. DH and I are thinking we might end up doing Winnie the Pooh. The only problem is I like Winnie but it seems like everyone's nursery is Winnie. I am going to keep looking though.

Hello everyone, (or 'ay oop me dooks' (ay up, my ducks) as they say in my parts!)

Sorry for going AWOL, but I'm so busy at work I just haven't had a moment and I couldn't face turning on the PC at the weekend. I was up at 5:30 to get to work today and I'm still at work (it's now 6pm). I am desperately trying to do the work of 5 people as I'm doing my boss's job as well as mine and we were trying to recruit 3 others anyway as we had so much on, and the pressure's on as I need to sort out the continuity before I go on maternity Aaaaaagggggghhhhhhhh :x

Anyhow, had to drop in for a quick chat and find out how everyone's doing.

Jenn - congrats on the boy - very exciting. Cameron's a lovely name - quite Scottish sounding I think.

T's top tip today!
If you want to try sleeping on your front, try the following: take 2 big flat cushions from your sofa/settee/couch/whatever the american/canadian word is for the thing you shlomp on to watch tv. Put these on the bed towards the bottom and use these under your hips and legs (not on top of each other, put one under your hips/thighs and the other under the rest of your legs). Let your belly and boobs go down to bed level (ie lower than the cushions) Put a small cushion under your chest and shoulders, above the boobs (That's tricky as it sometimes makes sore boobs - need to experiment with cushion sizes and positioning). Put your head on 1/2 pillows or whatever is comfortable. Don't know if it will work for you, but I managed to fall asleep like this one time. It's a DIY version of my PG bed idea!

Chelly - hope you managed to get a comfy bra - I meant to say that if you get fitted by a trained bra-fitter (in all our major bra stores), they should fit it so there is a bit of room for growth.

Nikki - If you want to have a C name that's a bit like Kale, you could go for Callum, and then call him Kale for short! I think I'll have to have a go at singing to the baby. I'm in a choir but we've stopped for summer - restarting in September - wonder what baby will make of being serenaded every Monday! Thanks for ticker info - I'll try when I have a mo!

Nurseries - my current idea is British country side theme - green hills with trees and cows/sheep/pigs - maybe a farmer and tractor or something. Sky and clouds on ceiling. May need a bit of planning!

What is registering? We don't have that here. We don't really have baby showers much either. None of my friends did. Most people buy a present after the baby is born (mostly toys).

As for me, my ribs are still giving me a lot of pain. It feels like someone has wedged a knife up the inside of my rib cage. I went to the doctor's last week (just a walk-in centre, as I was in London and my Doc's in Nottingham) and they said it felt like it was my intestine. I have irritable bowel syndrome, so it could be that baby is squashing sore bowel. Ow. Today pain is all round ribs back and front, so I'm thinking it's growing pains too. But at least I have no other symptoms, so it's not something nasty.

Well, I'd better go, I'm desperate for a wee (!) and I really should go home.

I may be a bit sporadic in my responses this week. Stay well.

Hello friends- Happy Monday! (as happy as it can be right?)

TinNotts- love the idea about the DIY PG bed! I have made myself adapt to sleeping on my side, so far I have been ok. I have not gotten a chance to go bra shopping, but this weekend is tax-free weekend in Texas, so I will probably go buy some goodies for me.
So yall don't do baby showers in the UK? Here usually the mom-to-be goes to a baby store ie Babies R Us or Target and sets up a gift registry like a wedding registry. Usually friends of the couple (sometimes relatives) will have a baby shower before the baby is born to help the couple with buying items for the nursery like onesies, bedding, diapers, really anything for baby. Most of the time they only do it for the 1st baby, but nowadays it seems to be whatever goes.
We haven't had one set up yet, but we will probably have one with friends/family, and then my work will probably have one for me. I wouldn't mind getting even diapers and wipes, since you can never have enough of those!

jenn- I think winnie would be adorable! DId alot of your friends do winnie...besides who cares, its your nursery and your baby! If you find a good travel system let me know so I can check it out too! The only thing I have really settled is the furniture....do you think I need a rocker? I tried one out before and I didn't like it b/c I get motion sick. Maybe I'll get myself a comfy recliner!

nic- I like Kale, and quite frankly all that matters is that you and DH like it!! The only other 'C' name I can think of is Connor. Dont worry about being neurotic, I feel the same way. If I don't feel movement every couple hours I get worried, but then I will feel something and calm down. I do admit the doppler is pretty darn handy! Do you rent them from your work?

sameera- I know what set you are talking about from Target! It is super cute, very modern but still baby! I think it would be adorable. I am going to wait until the sono Thursday to see if we can find out the sex, then decide on the nursery. I'm not that much into 'pink' and 'blue' per se, I will probably do neutral with accents depending on the sex.

Back to work!
God Bless!

T - I will have to try the DIY PG bed. I might even do it tonight considering I haven't had a good night's sleep in a few days! Sorry to hear you are so busy at work. I hope it lightens up a little for you. The nursery idea sounds very cute.

Michele - Yeah alot of my friends did choose Winnie. I have decided I think on Mickey Mouse. I found a great crib set it's called Classic Mickey! Very very cute. I will definitely let you know about the travel system. We are going this Thursday as I have Thurs and Fri off. How awesome! Looking forward to it. Well deserved I might say. i will try and post you some info while i am off. Just a suggestion. Instead of a recliner maybe try a glider. They are alot more comfortable.

Well, I guess i better get packed up. I am done work in 15 minutes and can't wait to get home and relax. I am beat today. Monday's are not normally good days for me.

I hope everyone has a great evening.

T-wow, thats quite a complex bed set-up you figured out. I say whatever works at this point! Sounds good but we have a leather couch and I'm not even sure how to take the cushions off. On the subject of singing to the baby in utero.....I sang "close to you" by the Carpneters to my first baby before and after he was born. Now he's no baby but every once in a while he still says "sing why do birds, Mom" when he needs comfort or if I'm laying with him at bed time. It really sooths him still. I need to pick a song for the new baby.

chelly....no, the doppler rental is from an on-line company. There are lots of them to choose from. I agree with not having too many diapers and wipes, I have been stocking up on them for a while.

sweetmonkey.....One of the travel systems my DH and I like is an Eddie Bauer model. The 2 things I really like about it are that it folds flat to upright and the foor flap fixes up to keep a little on safe when laying flat. I wonder if your friend is talking about the same one?
