HI Heather,

Sorry, my appointment was today, not yesterday. I had my days mixed up. Anyways, I went to the clinic armed with 13 pages of info on DHEA. My dr hadn't heard about anyone using it for infertility. Anyways, he's going to take my info and read up on it. He didn't prescribe me anything yet, but he did order a bunch of tests. Today I had blood tests for my thyroid, something to do with my allergies???? which could be affecting my fertility, and also some special test that they need to send to adelaide. This test they send to adelaide tells you whether or not your fsh is correct or if it is being affected by something else. Apparently if my blood shows a certain amount of something it means that my fsh is giving off a false reading for some reason. Sorry I can't remember it all, there was so much information to take in. I was in his office for an hour. Then he's ordered me to have my fallopian tubes checked. Which I do tomorrow. They're going to fill them full of dye and have a look around. He said that if they're blocked then this sometimes helps and some women who couldn't have babies before get pregnant after this. Then, on the 8th of November I have to have my progesterone checked and then finally on the 21st of Nov i'll go to find out all my results.... phew!

Anyways, looks like i'll have a few weeks to wait here but that's ok. I feel good about it all because he's doing alot of testing and once we find out the results i'll be much clearer in my head about it all.

So that's my news. Sorry I don't have the time right now to catch up with you all but i'm thinking of you and will be back tomorrow to leave you all a message. Take care ladies.

Wow Paula, that is fantastic news. Your Doc sounds like he has done his research and has come up with a bunch of possibilities for you. What a wonderful man. I hope the op goes well tomorrow. I had this done earlier this year...be prepared to spend a couple of days of doing, well, not much...certainly no waterskiing or rock climbing!

Can't wait to hear the results of all these tests...this might just find a solution to your recent woes and set you on the path to baby number 2! Keep us posted...please.

Best wishes

Hello all

No Heather, we do not have this technology in Australia. Our clinic in America suggested we have it done to see if all is well with the receptivity of my lining for implantation. It was suggested that we not proceed with any immunology tests, as I did not have any symptoms that suggested the problem may be in this area. An American company, Adeza, has the rights to conduct the E-Tegrity test. Our doctors in America gave us the contact details and we contacted them to send my Gyno, in Rocky, a kit. When the biopsy has been done here in Rocky, by my Gyno, we will fill out the paperwork and send it to America. The results take about 10 days to come thru.

I can sympathise with you about the IVF kilo's. After 6 attempts, mostly back to back, I ended up with about 12 kilos to lose. I have been very proactive this time, mainly due to the break in treatment, and have taken 6 kilo's off already. Thank goodness for weight watchers!.

When you are feeling better, feel free to contact me.

Best of luck to all, keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I feel to weak to type it all out again  All I'll say is it was bloody Barbaric!! and it still hurts. But thanks for your msg Heather!! Can't wait to find out all my results, I do know that my fallopian tubes are perfectly normal though.

Poor Paula, it really does hurt! I didn't want to say too much because the anticipation prior to any surgery is bad enough without a whole load of fear thrown in. I thought mine was going to be a walk in the park despite the Dr telling me it was really going to hurt and a couple of ladies at work filling me in on the gory details of their ops. What I ended up with was severe shoulder pain, what I imagine a gunshot wound would feel like, and a really bloated belly. I still made DH call the ladies at work after my op to tell them that everything went well and although I would have loved to call myself, I couldn't because I had gone windsurfing! Yeah right.

Hope you are feeling better today and good news about the tubes...yay you for keeping them in such pristine condition for 40 years!

Best wishes

Thanks for the support Heather :) Good news from me this morning, I"m feeling MUCH MUCH better. Only feel like af is here, just a little tender and slightly bloated, but nothing I can't manage and compared to the last 2 days i'm fantastic. I haven't eaten since thursday because I've felt so sick. I might even be able to eat today. The thought of it doesn't excite me yet but maybe later.

Speaking of weight and eating. I must be the oddball in here because i've actually lost 8kgs since Aug. ??? :?: Don't know what it is? worry maybe??

OH GUESS WHAT ELSE HEATHER???? DH was in Singapore the last couple days and he's bought me pure DHEA from Natures Plus. He was coming through customs this morning and I said to him, my god!! Take the labels of the bottle  hmmm, i hope there's no DHEA police in this forum .. HAHAHA  Anyways, he's arrived back in Aus this morning but he's in Brisbane, then going to Cairns, so i still won't see him for awhile, but at least he's closer, and i might go to Cairns next week on my days off. We'll see.

How's everyone else? Bel, has Annie had her birthday yet? Tiger, are you almost on your way or have you left???? You must be excited, or extatic if your already there... haha.. duh me! Missmolly, how you doing??

Hi all,

Wow!, I've been off line for a few days, my computer threw in the towel and Johnie needed to "give it a kick in the guts" (whatever that means, all I know is that it's now working a treat!!). So much to catch up on!

Heather, I have e-mailed my QFG person and am eagerly awaiting a response re. staffing profiles and who might be alligned with Warren's approach. He was always a bit of a cowboy from what I can gather, but had great results (he was the doctor that was recently on the cover of the Sunday mail for facilitating the second set of quads in the same family)..you might have a HUGE family quicker than you thought!!. I'll pm you as soon as I hear something back.

Paula, fantastic that your tubes are clear. I have heard of a few women who get pregnant after this procedures, kind of like giving the tubes a bit of a high pressure hose I guess, cleans out any gunk or residue and allows for clear passage of egg's and embies. Fantastic re. the natural DHEA, give it a bloody good shot I say!!, will be great to hear what your doctor says after his reading on the synthetic DHEA as well.

Bella, as the other girls have already said, welcome to you. Good luck with the remaining 2ww, is a horrid time; you become sooooo sensitive to every twinge..I do know of Glen Sterling, did you see the article about him on the front cover of the Australian newspaper recently?..He is involved in a court case whereby he had an affair with a patient who then fell pregnant naturally (between IVF cycles). I have a good friend who wasn't so happy with Glen and came across to QFG after a number of negative cycles. As Heather says, QFG has the highest success rates in Qld and Sydney IVF leads Australia. My husband works with a fellow who (along with his wife obviously) are going through Glen and they LOVE him. They got pregnant first cycle and then lost the bub at 16 weeks following incompetent cervix (hate that expression, sounds so cruel). Apparently he was wonderfully supportive and they are currently back with him on another cycle. So different strokes for different folks I guess. You have to be happy with your doctor, only you can decide is you feel completely comfortable and if their particular approach suits you.. Who knows, this could all be quite reduntant discussion though once you get your BFP!!!

Tiger, what are you up to buddy??, how many days until you see hubby??

Boo is doing well, it's now 9 days until her birthday. I am yet to make the cake, I'm waiting until my mum arrives from Sydney, she's MUCH more domesticated than I am !! We're all well though.

Take good care all
Belinda :D

OMG Paula, your DH is so lucky he didn't get stopped at customs. What a brave man. :D That story just cracked me up...I wrote to the TGA about importing DHEA for personal use and they replied that my Dr would have to import it and then only with the back up of successful clinical trials, blah, blah, blah...and your DH just walks in with it. Good on him, I really hope it does the trick! Glad to hear you are feeling better and what better place to truly recover than Cairns. :) Cocktails on the esplanade at Palm Cove...ahhh!

Belinda, sounds like Dr Sterling takes his job very seriously. Hey, he got the woman pregnant which is what he was being paid for! Glad to hear that your mum is coming and is an expert at cake construction. That should take the pressure off. Can you believe Annie is about to be 1!! Wow, time flies when you're having fun. Thanks again for helping me out with QFG. It is so hard when you don't know any of the Docs so I really appreciate any info you can find. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou.

Have a great Sunday folks!

Cheers

Belinda - I have to say, I was very surprised to read the info you had about Dr Sterling! I must say, I find him very supportive, although when I was in hospital with OHSS I was lucky to see him for 2 mins a day, which annoyed DH immensly.

Paula - I haven't heard of DHEA (seems I'm the only one!). What is it?

All the best,
Bella.

Hey all,

Bella, the Australian newspaper story was about a month ago, not sure of the date (though maybe you could do a web search of the Australian). Was when I was in Sydney with Johnie and Annie, I think it was the Friday about the 7th of October??, sorry to sound so vague, but thought you might want to read the story (me being a nosey parker would want to read it if he was my doctor!!)..Sorry to hear about your ohss, did this mean that you got lots of lovely eggies though??

Heather, I haven't heard back from my QFG friend yet, will re-email her and forward the reponse to you ASAP once I hear from her. Will you stay down in Brissy for the whole down-reg / stim / ec stages??, how will this work with your work etc??..

Tiger, not long now until you see that gorgeous husband of yours!!, have a fabulous time with him won't you!!

Well gals, gotta run, Johnie's dad (my father in law) is in hospital with chest pains, he has a terrible cardiac history and things don't look too flash. Will catch up in the next day or two..

Take care all
B

How is your FIL Belinda, I hope he is doing OK, well, better than OK. Sending best wishes for a speedy recovery.

With regard to treatment in Brissie, I have to go down for an initial consultation and the usual round of tests but then don't have to come back until EC. All the monitoring can be done here. I will stay from EC to ET....provided we get that far!

Bella, not long to go now. How are you feeling? Any symptoms, etc? Hope you are managing to stay sane. Still keeping everything crossed for you!

Tiger, enjoy your last few days here....you must be so excited to finally be reunited with DH and the hamster. Let's hope the hamster hasn't been comfort eating too much this time!!

Have a happy Melbourne Cup Day (in case you had forgotten :D ) and may the best horse win!

Cheers

Good Morning Ladies,

Happy Melbourne Cup Day! I"m working in a club, so I know i'm going to have a crazy day

Heather, yes, my hubby is brave :D I'd never have the guts to walk through customs like that. He got stopped as well. They pulled him off to the side and asked him loads of questions  but he got away lol

He won't be home for another couple weeks so I won't get to start yet but that's ok, I know it's there and i'm excited. I only have one bottle, 60tabs but he's going back again soon so he'll get me more.

Bella, go back a page or 2????. DHEA is a drug that Heather told me about in the last week or so. There's some links here in this thread to it  How are you doing?

Bell, 9 days till the big day :) How are you doing? How is work going? How's your father-in-law? Hope he's ok.

Tiger, when are you off? I can tell how excited you are by your messages. Good for you! How long are you going for? Sorry if you've already told everyone, but I've missed that part.

Off for now girls. Have a great day everyone.

Hi all,

And a happy Melbourne Cup day to all!..Any tips for me?, I never win (I don't think I've EVER picked the winner for the Melbourne Cup!), but my horses are numbers 16 and 21 (the date of my birthday and Johnies), hey a girl's gotta have a system!!

My father in law is back into CCU, the coronary care unit at our local hospital. He is hooked up to lots of machines that go ping, so looks quite scarey really. He is not too bad this time round, he has congestive cardiac failure which means that he gets fluid building up around his heart and lungs which means that the heart has to beat faster to work effectively. It puts a real strain on his heart. He is 78, he's had a great life, raised five kids and has lots of grandchildren, so we figure it's in god's hands..what will be will be. He's in the right place though, he's receiving excellent care (despite what you read about Qld Health!!!). Thanks for oyur kind messages of support.

Miss Boo is one in one weeks time. We were back at Coles this morning buying some more bits for the loot bags, should be fun..Hopefully we get good weather!

Bella, how are you coping with the 2ww????

Take care all and have a great day..We've got swimming lessons at midday, should be fun!

Hi B,

I love horse racing, but Melbourne Cup is a bit annoying for me. I like to bet on horses with high odds (I hate backing the favourite), but the shorter priced horses normally win the Cup. Anyway, my little long shot pick is Hugs Dancer!

2ww hasn't started yet. I have the transfer on Monday with Dr Affair (aka Sterling)! I can't wait - I have next week off work, so I'm just going to stay at home & cheer the little embies on (much like this afternoon during the Cup!). I know I shouldn't say this, but I have a good feeling about this go!

Sorry to hear about your dad-in-law. No matter how you rationalise their age etc., it's still a difficult thing to go through. I hope everything is OK.

Who is Miss Boo? Is that your daughter?

Bella.
