I went in this morning for my second baseline...to see if my uterus lining had thinned out. Well it did. But remember how I said the nurse counted 15 follies. Well, she is apparently incompetant. The head nurse did the baseline this morning counted less than four. Now I am at risk for RE cancelling my whole cycle. I am so upset.

I asked how could she possibly get this SOOO wrong, especially someone that has high FSH...you think she would have been more careful. She was counting blood vessals....are you freaking kidding me.

oooh Court - well first lets take the positive - your lining thinned out which is really good news!!!

4 follies is goign to be ok I think - I remember maybe RunnerKate or someone w/ few at the start and their cycle went forward and all was ok.

Take it one day at a time and don't give up!!

Sending lots of follie vibes your way!!

Hi All!
Happy Friday. I am looking forward to another weekend!

Courtney - That is crazy that your nurse would get it so wrong! Completely infuriating! I am confused on why they would even consider cancelling the cycle though. Weren't they checking your lining to see when you start Lupron? I would think it would be a long way off before they even look at follicles? Why wouldn't they wait and see what happened when you started stims? Please make sure you definitely speak to your doctor before cancelling your cycle. Don't get discouraged! Your lining is good. I think you have only just begun this cycle.

We must remember nurses do not know everything! I too was told that my lining might be too thick to start when I was getting my u/s done. Then, they called that afternoon and said everything looked good to go. This week, the technician told me I had 7 measurable follicles and it looked like I would get plenty more. The nurse on the phone told me I had 3 and that she hoped I would do better next time. She was so negative and then I come back in and have 13. They sometimes don't make any sense. I have decided to only listen to the positive they say. If it is negative, I will hold off worry until I speak with the dr. That's what get's be through. :)

CornyBaby - I am impressed that you are able to hold off on the POAS. I think my DH is leaning towards me not doing it after last time with the chemical pregnancy but I just can't make that promise. I told him I would hold off until it was closer to my beta test than last time though. That is the only compromise I can make. :) I hope the weekend goes by quickly for you! Keep us posted on Monday!

Indie_rad - Congrats on being PUPO! Enjoy your pampering!

JustJenis - Enjoy Your pampering! I cannot wait to get a manicure after my ER so I am very jealous! They told me I can't wear polish for that so I have been holding off. I am tempted to get a massage in this weekend though. :) Have fun!

RunnerKate - I have to take estrogen pills from around ET to my beta test. That is just my protocol regardless of what my bloodwork will show. Actually, after the ET, I won't go in for bloodwork again until the beta test. I think that's what makes the 2ww even harder, there isn't anything really to do except take pills and get the progesterone injections. Hang in there! Less than a week for you and kbat to get your first beta results!!!

Things here are good. I have to go in for another u/s and bw tomorrow morning. She said I'll probably be triggering this weekend for either Monday or Tuesday retrieval. I can't wait. By next weekend, I too will be PUPO!

Good luck everyone! Have a great weekend!

Sorry to hear that your cycle is so messed up. Just some encouragement for you though, I had only 4 follies. I was worried that was not going to give me very good results. As it turned out, every folly had an egg and 3 fertilized. Don't let them cancel if you can.

Courtney...I can't see how they could cancel before you even start lupron. I don't think that nurse knows what she's talking about. My RE doesn't even count antral follies before I start. I only had 5 follicles the first try, and only 6 this time (4 mature eggs...all 4 fertililized), so hang in there and keep the PMA.

Itsgottawork - the biggest thing keeping me from POASing is the fact that I'd rather just be PUPO. If it didn't work, I'm just not mentally prepared for the bad news yet. The torture I put myself through last cycle POASing every day and clinging to hope that it was just too soon is a pretty good deterrant too. :)

This is exciting girls...we're getting there! I can't believe how fast it goes once you get started.

courtney - I don't understand why they want to cancel your cycle. You haven't even started the stims yet. Did you take BCP? I remember that in my baseline ultrasound before I started lupron they were checking to see if the lining was thin. You should clarify with your RE on whats going on here.

itsgottawork - good luck with your trigger!! All that was so much more exciting than the 2ww!!!

I am not doing any estrogen pills and don't have any blood test scheduled before the 3/10 beta test.

Have a great weekend ladies..

Hi, ladies :) It's been a couple of months since I've been on here, but I'll give you the brief history/update. You can see from my signature that we have been here before...doing IVF that is. I just had my retrieval yesterday and they retrieved 10 eggs. Of those eggs, 8 were good. I was a little upset about this as the last time we did this we got 15! So, today I got the update call and only 2 have fertilized. I was crushed. I guess I am feeling like I did all of this for nothing. I know all it takes is one, but as some of you know they don't all make it. I am so worried and nervous. I just cried for like an hour. I need you guys to get me through this. I am tentatively scheduled for the transfer on Sunday.

Help!

Hi Brandy!
Welcome to our thread! We are happy you are joining us.
I know it doesn't really help to read that all it takes is one but people do say it because it is true! From your signature, you are proof that IVF can work! And, there is no reason not to believe that this is the month you conceive a brother or sister for your first IVF miracle!
There's not really anything you can do until Sunday. I hope you are able to relax and know that you have done everything you can this cycle and now all you have to do is stay hopeful for Sunday when you have your ET and enter the 2ww.
I am sending out all the healthy, strong growing embie vibes I can!
Good Luck and please keep us posted!

Brandy and Courtney--

I went through a similar experience...being very dissappointed about not having more eggs. I only had one ovary respond to the meds and got 6 follicles, which seemed like NOTHING to me. My RE thinks that it actually better to get fewer quality BETTER eggs rather than having a slew of medium to poor quality eggs and only a few good ones. B/c you have so few eggs, your doctor can better tailor when EXACTLY to do the ER knowing that they are the appropriate size, etc.

Of my 6 eggs, all fertilized, 5 made it to Day 3, 2 were transfered on Day 3, and 2 more went on to be Day 6 Frozen Blasts. Now, with your numbers, you may not get to have frozen embryos, but you will hopefully have 1-2 for this cycle.

If you decide to cancel this cycle, it is heart-breaking to start the process all over again, but you want to do it right. You have to let go ALL hopes, time constaints, etc. and give in to the long process. Think in terms of years rather than days. We are running a MARATHON here ladies. Not a sprint.

I wanted to let everyone know, DH and I have decided to cancel this cycle. So many different things have gone wrong, we wanted to cancel and RE agreed it was best. Afterall I had 9 follies last month, only 3 today...so 9 is possible!!

I cried all day about the cycle being cancelled, but now that the decision has been made I feel much better. We were having many issues with the nurses, all that we addressed with RE today. He was in disbelief at the behavior and bad info by and from the nurses. He promised things would be different next time.

I will keep active on the board, I am sad about not finishing with all you wonderful ladies. BFPs to you all!!!

ok a few things. I am a poor responder-so I have never gotten more than about 3-4 eggs at e/r. I prefer to have better quality over quality. (Last cycle I had only 2 and bothe fertilized and almost had a pregnancy) this time I had 2 and 1 fertilized. I think it's awful what the nurse did. I've had plenty of nurse issues in the past--once she even forgot to call me to tell me there would be no e/t the next day.

Also for this final cycle only, I've been doing the estrodial patch (it's a weekly thing). I had a post on here about it, and basically Ghost said that it helps w/ the estrogen level to also help w/ maintaining a pregnancy. But since this is the first (& only) time using it, I really can't tell you much about it.
