Hi everyone

I've just been signed off by my hospital and have seen my doctor who has now told me that none of the hospitals that I can go to do a 12 week scan. I just wondered if anyone else had found that? I'm thinking of having (and paying for) the nuchal scan so I get to see the baby at 12 wks although I am really in two if not three minds about it!!. It would be SO nerve racking. We were sort of thinking we might be a bit more relaxed after the 12 wk scan so are disappointed that we don't get one. Vicky

Hello Vicky - none of the hospitals near me do a nuchal fold scan either - although we can pay for one at the same hospital where we had our treatment. After much discussion we decided not to go for this. At our antenatal appointment last week they did a scan (I was almost 11 weeks) even though I wasn't expecting them to. It was a pleasant surprise and really nice to see how much the baby had developed since our last scan with the infertility clinic. All of a sudden I felt as if I was being treated like a 'normal' pregnant woman!! And the baby was developing fine. We don't now get another scan done until 20 weeks - that seems ages away seeing as we've now had 3 scans in 11 weeks!
Best of luck with whatever you decide to do

Love
Debbie

Hi Debbie

Thanks for replying. We must be almost exactly the same dates wise -I think your a bit ahead of me (I'm 10wks & 4days today and due on 6th May).
I think we have decided to have the nuchal scan (I am going to speak to doctor later about it). We've decided that if there is something wrong we may as well know now and start coming to terms with it and if it's okay we'll feel more relaxed -it is a big decision - I can see why you have decided not to - I hope we don't regret doing it! Anyway I'll let you know what happens. Love Vicky

Haven't heard from anyone in a while and wanted to check in on you to see how you were all doing. What's going on in everyone's lives?

My second scan went really well, the baby was tracking perfectly as far as size goes. I am now officially "a regular pregnant woman" as my doc likes to say and have been released to OB care. I had such a great relationship with my fertility specialist that we cried at my last appointment. I didn't expect to get that emotional!

Wanted to ask a question about all the DHs out there. My husband is very nervous, and seems almost afraid to get excited. I thought seeing the heartbeat would do it, but it didn't. I am trying to get him to relax a little...does it seem more realistic to them when we start showing? Any experience?

Hello all

Congratulations Bonbon - you must be over the moon.

Brs888 - My husband was like yours as well. He was really really pleased (obviously) but was initially extremely nervous about whether everything would work out. He is better now (I am 12 weeks on Sunday) - so hopefully it will wear off with yours! Vicky

I've had to kick my DH in the behind a little bit - he hasn't been as excited as I am. He says that we've spent SO much time trying to get this way that it's hard to believe it's real. We've had weekly scans to make sure I'm growing okay, so we've seen heartbeats for 3 weeks now - and STILL no jumping up and down from him!

Good to hear that my DH isn't a weirdo  It's funny that I wrote that message today...just today he rubbed my belly when he came home. Maybe you're right and it just takes some getting used to. Thanks, girls!

Hi everyone and congratulations on your pregnancies!

My DH didnt really show as much interest as me or anyone else for that matter! (So it appeared to me anyway) It became more real for him at my 20 wk scan. (I didnt have one at 12 wks). Its only really now, when he can see how big my bump is and also feel (and sometimes see) our baby's kicks that he is taking more of an interest. I also bought him a book 'The blokes guide to pregnancy' which is written by a man. I was really disappointed that he wasnt reading it. However, once he started, (After an argument with me that I was on my own in this pregnancy!) he realised that he could relate to it, telling me about things in the book which were amazingly 'just what we were going through!' He also found it was eas to just dip in and out of the book when he wanted.
I have now realised he is very much interested in this pregnancy and our baby, I think he just finds it hard to relate to it the same as me, as he isnt carrying the baby and its not with him all the time!
Enjoy your pregnancies!
Love Kim

Thanks for sharing your experiences, Kim.

I bought my dh a book also, which is quite funny! It is titled, "Why Pregnancy Sucks for Men." It kind of puts a funny spin on all of the stuff we're going through :)

I'm feeling sick about every other day. It's such a horrible feeling - and I work full-time. All I want to do is go lay on some cool tile :(

I have at least 3 more weeks to suffer through this!

Hi Ladies

I have been so busy since we got back from hols I have not had much chance to update. I had a 2nd scan today - the last one was three weeks ago. The twins have developed so much in that time. They are more defined in shape and were wriggling, waving and kicking! They are the right size for 11 weeks, one is slightly bigger.

Hope you are all doing ok
Best wishes
Ange

Ange

That's great news - it is such a relief to see things moving along at the right pace isn't it.

Take care of yourself.

A warm welcome to all the Newbies to the first tri..Hope you're all doing well.

Ange,
lovely to hear abt your scan..Hope your holiday was relaxing.
KC,
I always longed for nausea! It would make this more real I suppose!!But looks like you'r having a tough time- have you tried the sea-sickness bands that everyone who's gone thru this has tried and found useful?
