Hey guys

Just a quick one. Had my scan today - 2 sacs and 1 bean and flicker of a heartbeat! Is early though so they're going to scan me next week. The other bean didn't make it but now has given all of its super strength to its twin for extra growth surge!

Good luck all - back later for proper chat

Love, Lola

Hi Sophie, I just read your last post. You must have posted while I was typing mine. Sorry things didn't go well today. You've been through so much already. I'm hoping and praying that you get better news next week. In the meantime, I think comfort food and chick flicks are a great way to pass the time. Lots of hugs...

Sophie - 50% is still pretty good! You've shown already that you've got a tough little one in there. Hang in there! Sorry you have to wait so long for the next U/S, it really sucks!

And thanks Kathleen for your condolences. DH and I are coping now but I'm sure it'll be harder once the MC actually happens.

Hi all,
Sophie I think the prayers helped before so I will keep praying, I am going to church tomorow and will definitely keep you in my prayers.

I had my scan today, we saw and heard two strong heartbeats!!! It is so incredible that they are so small and yet there heart is already beating!
My spotting stopped completly, it was just a little bit on sunday and it never came back, thank God, every thing looked fine today on the ultrasound.

Hugs to all,
Ana

Wow! So many posts to catch up on! Apologies in advance if I miss anyone.

I just want to share a story with you all that may give you some hope... Back in April 06 I cycled (IUI) with a girl, Lauralou. We both got BFNs and then twice more over the next 6 months. I then did my first IVF in Oct and again we cycled together. Lauralou had a terrible cycle, getting loads of eggs but then only 4 fertilised and then on transfer only one embryo survived. It was so badly fragmented the doc's weren't even going to bother but they decided to give it a chance. We both got our BFPs at the same time. First her beta was high, then it didn't double and she was told a mc was inevitable. She waited for 2 weeks and nothing happened. They retested her and her beta was through the roof. She went for a scan, but there was no sac, so it was though an ectopic would develop. Then they saw a sac but only a feeble heartbeat and she was told the chances were slim. When she was almost 8 weeks pregnant by dates, they finally saw what was causing all the trouble - identical twins! She had her precious boys 2 weeks before I had mine! Lauralou still hangs around on the Double Trouble thread and is an inspiration. (Apologies Lauralou if I got some of the details wrong, but it was a long time ago!) The message is that even when it all looks lost, there is always some hope.

Sophie - I am sorry that you are having yet another scare. 50-50 is still ok odds. Its so not fair that we have to endure this, is it? I hope Lauralou's story will give you some hope that sometimes the odds are on the good people's side!

Amy - I am so sorry that your little one is struggling. I won't give up praying for a miracle that it suddenly gets its second wind for you. It is true that now you know you can do it, there's no reason it can't happen again. Be kind to yourself and your DH. Hugs.

Ana - Wow! Another set of twins! Well done you!!! As a mother of twins I can say that you truly are blessed.

Lola - Great news that you have a wonderful strong heartbeat. I'm sorry its twin did not make it but you are so right that it has given all its strength to your bean.

Jenn - Another great ultrasound report. One heartbeat is just fine when it sounds as healthy as yours.

Kristy - Hey, tell your DH about the identical triplets born recently. They were IVF and from a single embryo!!!! That should make it weak-knee'd!

Keita - About the bed rest... Its a ritual at my clinic that afyer you have your ET they sit you in comfy recliners for half an hour and give you a brandy with crackers and cheese. If you don't drink you can have a Valium instead. I was given no instructions to rest but decided that as my ET was a wed, I would take the thurs/fri off as well. I watched DVD's on ET day but otherwise went back to it. That ET gave me the twin boys who are sleeping upstairs as I type. This pregnancy was a wonderful natural suprise and before I knew I was pregnant, I ate sushi and soft cheese, drank wine, swam, had a car accident, took diet pills and ate nowhere near enough to feed the two of us. Somehow, through all that my little embryo has survived. How it has made it and we couldn't do it for the 5 years we tried I will never know.

(Ok. I just re-read that paragraph and I don't sound too good. Obviously had I known that I could have been pregnant, I would never have done the above, but I was on a strict diet from me GP to try and shift my baby weight. Now I am eating well again and have resigned myself to the fact that my old clothes will have to wait another year!)

But my point is, I think we have very little input into whether an embryo will take or not. I believe that stress will do more harm than an active lifestyle, so best to do whatever makes you feel relaxed and happy and gest you through the 2ww. Best of luck!

Ok. this is a LOOOONG one.
Will go now,

Em

Hi Ladies, Hope today finds everyone doing well.

I just had my 2nd u/s today and we heard two heartbeats. Doctor said at 6wks anything over 100bpm is great. Both were over 100 so I was very relieved and happy. It was so amazing to hear them beating. I'm going to buy a baby photo album today to start storing my pics.
Hopefully, this will start a wave of good things to come for all of us.
xoxo,

Morning ladies,

Wow, so many ultrasound reports; it was amazing to keep up with all of you! Congratulations are in order:

mzpotter: congratulations again on your one strong beanie! :D

Kathleen: woooohoo for the strong and quick heartbeats! Must have been music to your ears! :D

Lola: I'm sorry that you didn't get the twins you wanted: must have been strange to see two sacs but only one baby. Medically speaking (too) these things do happen for a reason and I'm sure that your one strong beanie will just sail through that eight-months nap! :D Congratulations on your healthy beanie sweetie! grow, beanie, grow!

Ana: ooooooh you HEARD your beanies? Oh, lucky you! Must have been music to your years too! WOW! I'm really happy for you sweetie! Congratulations! :D And I'm glad the spotting has stopped!

Emma: thanks for sharing the story. Good luck on your ultrasound tomorrow. How do you feel?

And to all those who kindly posted your encouragements, thank you, for they were all priceless. Seriously, I wish I could do like most of you and just post about positive stuff. Sorry about that. You guys are right: 50% is better than nothing. It's just that we started from 95% on Friday... that was a big psychological drop. The movies helped (Atonement and Enchanted), and so did the mint-chocolate soy ice cream, the home-made club sandwich.. and the peanut butter and jelly sandwich. ;) Strangely, I've been feeling better physically since the u/s. No more nausea, my energy levels are better. I did more around the house. At times I think that it's my pregnancy symptoms that are leaving me, but let's be realistic... it's probably just me recovering from the hospitalization (sleeping around 11 hours a night probably helps!!).

I'm about to call my grandparents and tell them the news. I've abandoned the idea of telling my family with nice Easter packages and a prepared letter. I won't be able to travel to Quebec to meet my family for the Easter brunch (my father and his wife won't let me do the 3 hours drive, even if DH drives; they will come here on Friday-Saturday instead). My grandparents deserve to know, and my grandmother has had about three miscarriages, so she will understand me. The point was to wait until I met her in person to tell her the news of the pregnancy, but the situation has changed. My father's wife called yesterday afternoon because she was too impatient to hear the news... she was very disappointed of course. At least I didn't have to repeat it all to my father.

Anyway. The bleeding still hasn't reappeared, and so did the pain. Technically, this would be an improvement. So I'll just keep praying and wait patiently until Tuesday. And then I'll face the music, whatever it is. My father's wife (a doctor like my dad) will prescribe me strong pain meds before she leaves, so I'll have meds to help me through the pain of a provoked abortion or just a miscarriage if we have to go there.

Hey by the way, how many of you have ultrasound pics? I'm curious! Take care ladies, and tell me if I made any mistake on the list! :)

Sophie - you are so sweet updating the list and congratulating everyone when you're having such a hard time at the moment. You are a strong brave lady. I'm sorry you've gone through all that pain and sadness but nows the time for a bit of positive thinking! We know from this ivf lark, miracles happen all the time. We've all read hundreds of stories where it all looked dark but then everything turned out perfectly. I hope tuesday brings you good news sweetie. xx

Kerpupples - how are you doing? My thoughts are with you x

How's everyone else? We have 2 sets of twins on the thread so far.... we should have a sweepstake on how many we end up with. Winner gets a packet of Quavers - I'm addicted to them at the moment.
How's everyones symptoms? I've just started to get a bit of morning sickness.

Off subject.... has anyone been following the whole Heather Mills divorce thing? She is a 24 carat loon! But soooo watchable!

Anyway, hope you are all doing well and feeling happy. I'm off to scavenge in the fridge like a curly haired boar

Much love, Lola

Hi guys,

Had my scan today. Def only one heartbeat. I am only measuring 6w4d so that changes my due date out to the 9th Nov. Doc seemed pleased and I have to book my room at the hospital ASAP. Doc was a bit concerned due to my pre-eclampsia and anaesthetic reaction with the last preg and I think he is going to stear me towards another Caesar.

Just a shorty from me today as after I finished writing to you guys last night, I went up and checked on the boys and Jasper had a fever and was struggling to breathe. We rushed him to hospital and were there most of the night. He has bronciolitis and we expect him to worsen tonight before turning the corner tomorrow. We were allowed to bring him home but have to go back if he has respiratory distress again. He had this when he was 6 weeks old and was in for a week on oxygen (thats all they can do for it). He also has a rash so there is a worry that its meningitis but he is not quite sick enough and aside from the rash has no other meningitis- symptoms.

Its been a scary 24hours and I am so tired.....

Much love to you all,
Em

doodah--Thanks for the information I appreciate it

mzpotter--I was looking at your siggy and we have almost the same fertility challenge. I had my left tube taken out and my right one is surgically blocked...No PCOS. I saw your post about your scan congrats

xrayem-thanks I know we are all different and the only way to know if this works is trust in God. I know that and put that before all things, but I like to hear others story, find out the "statistics" of a 3 day trf on boards, and to see how others handled their transfer.

I go on today and any other day just knowing God will fulfill my hearts desires this time around, I have no other choice but to. and Know that he does have a plan for me. So i appreciate your responses ladies and congrats on your pregnancies!
