November 2008 mommies, come join the fun!!!

Post by PMApsy »

Hello! :D

Welcome to the November Pregnancy Buddies thread! :) I thought I'd start it, because the lovely mommies-to-be of the October thread are way further ahead than I am! :)

So! Let me introduce myself. My name is Sophie and I live in Montreal, Canada, with my beautiful and exceptional husband Christophe, our dog Daria and our cat Moïra. We're about to officially buy our second house (April 4th) and do major renovations inside; we plan to move during the first week of May.

I am a psychologist and I work in a hospital with oncology patients. I am also a writer and a flamenco dancer. I enjoy knitting, gardening, cross-stitching, and so on.

I learned barely a few hours ago that we're finally pregnant. My due date is November 9th I think, but it will have to be confirmed by my doctor. It was a marathon for us but I fully realize, after being a cycle buddy with several amazing women, that we had it easy compared to some women who TTC for several years. To summarize our story, I became infertile after a resident in gynecology perforated my uterus while measuring it (the device is a long metal stick). I had a systemic infection and both my tubes were damaged permanently. After a surgery in 2006, we were told that IVF was our only option. We made a first attempt in Jan/Feb 2007, which failed, and another in May/June 2007, same result. We had 11 sleeping beauties. My first FET was delayed due to the after-effects of the mild OHSS I had in June. Three embies survived the thaw out of 4 (we have 7 left) and they were all transferred on February 20th. Today, I had my pregnancy test, and you know the result!!

I'm still in complete shock, feeling many emotions at once! Part of me still finds this unbelievable! Part of me can't believe it's finally my turn to write BFP in my signature and post on this side!!! Part of me is of course over the moon with this and wants to scream it! (so great that I can tell you guys right away!!) Part of me is frantic, thinking that we'll move in our new house at the beginning of May and one room will remain empty because it will be for the baby!!!! Part of me is a bit nervous at the thought that I won't be able to do much for the renovations of the new house... part of me is also concerned about the flamenco show and the rehearsals I'll miss because I have to wait until u/s to have the all clear... part of me is happy to give those rehearsals away because I'd do anything for my little beanie(s)!

In a word, a big huge mix of emotions! Which is super normal!! But overall, I'm very happy! And deep down inside... the mother part of me (there, I can say it!!!) feels very sweet, nurturing and calm.

We'll know the beta tomorrow morning. But the nurse and our doctor said that I'm VERY pregnant. They gave us a little thing that looks like an HPT, except it's for blood tests. The two lines are very dark (hence the very pregnant). It will be nice to have that for the baby scrapbook I'm sure I'll make one day!

My dear husband Christophe is happy, but he says he still does not realize fully what's happening. He says he has the impression that we've accomplished something, and that it's good, but that's it. I'm sure seeing a little heartbeat on the monitor (or two... or three!) on the 18th (ultrasound at 11am) will make it more real for him.

Okay, I've babbled enough, but it's so good to talk about it, finally, knowing which way that attempt went!

I'm looking forward to hearing about you, fellow November moms-to-be, and also looking forward to sharing that amazing journey with you!

Take care,

Sophie xxox

Hello Nov. Moms-to-be,

My name is Laurel and I live in Tennessee (near Nashville). My husband and just found out were are pregnant as well after one attempt of IVF. Our due date is Nov. 5th. I will have my first U/S on March 18th to see if there is one or two. They put two embies in, so we shall see!! I am so excited but cautiously optimistic at the same time! My betas have come back really great (175, 433, then 1525), so that gives me some confidence something is cooking!! Would love to go thru all of this with someone...this is such a unique experience most people do not understand that have not done IVF. We have male-related infertility and we are 29 and 32. I look forward to hearing from you all!! :D

Hello,

It's is so nice to see all of these BFP's. I am in Nashville and found out about my pregnancy Feb. 27. The FET was Feb. 18 and I am due Nov. 5, but still need confirmation on that from RE.

My first beta was 220 and second which was done 5 days later was in the 1200's my third beta is tomorrow, fourth beta is March 13, and ultrasound March 24. I can wait to see what is going on in there.

God bless and look after everyone on this board.

Hey Joanie,

I am in Nashville too. Sounds like our numbers were similiar. 9dpt175, 11dpt 344, 14dpt1525. Do you think we could have two buns in the oven? How many embies did you put in? I think it is pretty hard to tell with the Hcg levels, but I am hoping there are two, but would be ecstatic with one. Either way.

Hi Girls,

My name is Emma and I hail from Brisbane, Australia. I am a radiographer and married to hubby Antoni. We TTC for 5 years with 3 failed IUI's, finally falling pregnant with twins on our first IVF. I gave birth to my beautiful boys Finlay and Jasper on 7th june 2007.

At my 8 week check after the delivery, my obs gave me a prescription for the pill which I decided not to fill and which brings me to why I am joining your thread!

I had some funny signs and then driving to work 2 mornings in a row I followed cars with "HPT" number plates. I told Dh. We thought it was funny and decided to do test just to humour ourselves. It was positive!

So I think I am due on November 3rd. I am assuming it is only one this time round but I will check at work on friday- the benefits of working with Ultrasound!

We are shocked, nervous and excited. We wanted another pregnancy, just not so soon. The boys are only 9 months old. But I have to see this as meant to be and I am not one to look a gift horse in the mouth! Needless to say I will be filling my prescription after November 3rd!!!

Am very pleased to be travelling this road with you. And even though I have done this before, I had a twin pregnancy and didn't go into labour (emergency caesar at 35 weeks) so a lot of what we will go through will be different for me too.

Congratulations to us all!

Hi Everyone,

I only had 2 betas: the first one 9pdt was 170 and the second 11dpt was 294. The nurse told me that they didn't mean much in predicting how many took :D

Hello ladies!

Wooooow, so you're out there, November mommies-to-be! It's great to see that people are joining the thread! I hope we have a wonderful ride together!

Many of us are also going through our first pregnancy, so this is exciting!

Hi Laurel! Nice to meet you! It's great that another member of this thread also lives near you! ;) I'll have my u/s the same day as you, isn't that exciting? :D I'm also glad that we can share this experience together because, indeed, many people don't really understand what it's like to go through IVF treatments. It changes many things!

Hello Joanie! :) Welcome, and nice to meet you! Wow, they wait a lot at your clinic before they do an ultrasound! You must be so impatient to see your little beanie(s)! We'll try to keep you busy and entertained until then! :D

Hi Emma! Thanks for your post on the other thread by the way, and it's amazing to see you on this thread! I loved reading about your story and I think you and I share a brain on many things... I, too, believe that things do happen for a reason. I find it hillarious that you had the HPT signs while driving to work, how cute is that, and what a nice story to tell people! :) Congratulations on your lovely twins! It will be great to have you with us; your experience will be priceless when we all start to worry about this and that, plus you had an experience with multiples, which is also priceless for some of us are bound to be in that situation. Welcome, my dear, and I really look forward to hearing from you!

Sage, I understand what your nurse said, though I don't agree it's that clear-cut. I have seen a few IVFers here start with a high beta and have a singleton, it's true. The thing is, betas are not 100% reliable, but they can still give you a clue. My doctor told me that above 500 (I think the HCGbeta scales are different in Canada), there is a chance that we might deal with more than one. It's not automatic, but it's a sign.

So, a little bit about me! ;) We had a nice surprise this morning: a huge snowstorm! My DH called at work and it's closed for the day, so as I was supposed to work from home, we're both still here! It's amazing to share this day together! This morning, he took the 1 month belly picture. Hehehe I'm already bloated a bit because of the Prometrium and its side effects. But it will be nice to see it change over the next few months.

I made an apt with my acupuncturist on Friday pm. He specializes in IVF and pregnancy/delivery. He's very serious, teaches in a few universities, has been the on-call acupuncturist in many hospitals and clinics in the past. I trust him a lot. Plus, he is one of the on-call acupuncturists in the hospital I want to deliver in. It has a wonderful reputation here; many of my DH's colleagues delivered there and they were all highly satisfied of the care they received. They have individual rooms, bathtubs in each room, plus you deliver in your own room; you don't have to be transferred in a delivery room per se.

The thing is, it's hard to find a gynecologist in Quebec these days. They are just all overbooked! So, working there, my acupuncturist assured me that he would make a few phone calls and get me in easily. This is a HUGE relief! :D Not to mention the fact that I'll be able to have acupuncture treatments during labor and delivery at that hospital, something I most definitely want. Geez, I've read the articles on MEDline (I'm also a researcher, so I tend to check the literature before I make statements like that!) and it can shorten labor by 4-6 hours on average! :D

Depending on how many there are, I might not go to that hospital, though. My father and his wife, who are both doctors (which can be both a blessing and a major pain in the neck), want me to make sure they would have the expertise there to do a follow-up for a twin or triplet pregnancy. I'm sure it's the case, for their gyn-obstetrics departement is very complete, but I'll check anyway. ;) It didn't even take them 24 hours to pass from being overjoyed to sending me the first recommendations about what to do or not do. LOL!

My family is really on pins and needles, waiting to know how many there are. We're still waiting for that call to know our beta.

Okay, enough babbling! Have a nice day ladies!

The clinic called! I have my beta! This is 13dp4dt

Beta = 653.4 !! :shock: :D :shock: :D

We're very happy, of course, because it is a high number. They were right, yesterday, when they said that I'm very pregnant! Even if there is "only" one in there, it still means it is very strongly attached! :D And according to what my doctor said, a number above 500 MIGHT suggest the presence of twins. For some reason, I do not expect to have twins... it's just not the vibe I'm getting, but I might be surprised, who knows?

Can't wait to tell my family tonight! :D

Hugs,

Sophie

Wow, this is so neat to have people from all over the world!

Sophie, so glad you started this thread! I loved reading your story-sounds like you have been thru quite a bit already b/4 doing IVF. Did you have any female problems at all b/4 the surgery? I guess some things happening to us we cannot explain, but nevertheless we must endure. Could be much worse, right? Congrats on your high beta! What day do they draw your hcg? Ours is drawn on the 9th day (at least in Nashville) then 2 more times after that. Then we have to wait 2 WEEKS for the u/s. That seems like forever! But, we will try to entertain eachother in the meantime! That is exciting it is done on the same day-I can't wait!!

Emma, congrats on your twins! how exciting! You know, I have heard that happening to another couple we know. They did IVF 4x b/4 it worked then got pregnant on their own just a few months after having their twin girls! Crazy! I am not planning on going back on BCP b/c we only have one frozen embie, and although we are planning on using it eventually, I wouldn't mind getting preggo on our own. I can't believe you saw HPT on license plates-that is GREAT! sophie is right, what a wonderful story to tell! Congrats on your new pregnany as well!

Sage, glad to have you along for the ride, too. where are u from? You may have said but I cannot recall...Congrats on your pregnancy as well. Do you have a hunch you have one or two? They told me the same thing with the Hcg that it is impossible to tell.

I am suffering a bit from hyperstimulation from all the meds, so I am taking time off work with WAY too much time on my hands. So, I may be writing more frequently than I normally would be able.

Glad to meet everyone and can't wait till November!!!

Hi. I'm Kathleen and my due date is Nov 10th. I'm still having trouble believing it's really true. We have been ttc for 4 years. PCOS and hypothyroidism have been our obstacles. We transferred two blastocysts on Feb 23rd and on Monday found out we had a bfp!!! My hcg # was 291. I had bw this morning and am waiting to hear the results. I took the day off today. I've been having a lot of trouble sleeping. I fall asleep around 9pm and then wake up at 1am and can't go back to sleep. I'm a kindergarten teacher so a good night sleep is essential to have the patience and energy to make it through the day.

My nurse usually calls me between 9-10 a.m. with the results while I'm in the middle of teaching a lesson. Of course the day that I'm off it's already 11:30 and I'm still waiting.

I'm a little worried this early on because 2 1/2 yrs ago I had a m.c. from a natural pregnancy. I'm keeping positive thoughts and hoping to continue this journey with all of you nice ladies until November.

Good luck to everyone!
