Starting IFV

Hi I am new to these boards. We are planning on doing IFV. We have been trying to concieve for 3 years. So far it is unexplained infertility. We have done one cycle of artificial insemination. This is the next step. We meet with our doctor on 11/20. And we will be able to start it with the next cycle which is begining of December. I just want some in put on doing this. I am scared, nervous, excited because I don't know what to expect. I just wondering other's people experience with IFV and who has had success the first time. All these thoughts going through my head, sometimes feel like I am alone but after reading other discussions I know I am not alone.

YOU SAID YOU HAD UNEXPLAINED INFERTILITY.....YOU'LL HAVE TO LET ME KNOW ALL THE TESTS YOU'VE HAD TO BE TOLD THAT AND THEN WHAT TESTS SEVERINO DECIDES TO DO. DON'T FORM AN OPINION OF HIM BECAUSE OF ME, BUT I JUST HOPE HE SLOWS DOWN AND GIVES YOU THE ANSWERS YOUR LOOKING FOR WITHOUT DRAINING YOUR CHECKBOOK. HOW IS YOUR DH'S TESTS? WHERE ARE YOU GUYS FROM AGAIN?

I SO WISH YOU LUCK.....I'M TAKING NEXT WEEK OFF WORK SO I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH I'LL BE CHECKING THE BOARDS OR NOT.......I JUST NEED SOME TIME OFF TO HEAL INSIDE FROM THE ER....AND THEN EMOTIONALLY FROM SPENDING OVER $20,000.00 AND NOT EVEN GETTING THE CHANCE TO HAVE THE ET.

HAS ANYONE HEARD OF DR. KOH IN MILWAUKEE?

I have had all the test requested by him. I have had the hystosalpingogram, and all the blood work. Jill and Beth said I have everything they need. And as for my DH it looks good, but that test was done in marshfield. He has to have the sperm test done in Green Bay on 11/20. But I think it will be fine. We also had artificial insemination done in marshfield but wasn't on any meds for it except Clomid, it didn't work. Beth told us that there was a good chance of it working the first time since so far nothing wrong and we are only 24 & 25. SO I hope it goes well. wondering if the cost 10,700 was with your medication? I am from Wausau and I don't know if there are too many other providers around there that do this. I heard of some one in La cross who was cheaper then Green Bay, but never heard any success stories from there. I think Milwaukee is also Aurora. So let me know if you find anything else out.

YOUR AGE IS A DEFINITE PLUS. GLAD YOUR NOT WAITING AS IT ONLY GETS HARDER. THE MEDS ARE NOT INCLUDED MY MEDS WERE $1900.00. WHICH BY THE WAY I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF THAT PRICE TILL YOU CALL THE COMPANY AND GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO....IT WAS SHOCKING TO SAY THE LEAST. YOU HAVE TO ORDER ALL THE MEDS, AND PAY FOR THE IVF CYCLE IN ADVANCE BEFORE ANY MORE TESTING IS DONE. MY COST JUST FOR THE IVF PROCEDURE WAS $10,700.00 I STILL DIDN'T GET THE AURORA BILL FOR THE LITTLE SEDATION I WAS GIVEN EITHER, SO I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT WAS YET EITHER. JUST ASK TONS OF QUESTIONS......I APPARENTLY DIDN'T.

thanks for giving me the heads up. Now I know some good questions to answer. I guess I will see on Monday what happens. I am glad to hear that the meds were under 3000, because that is the price they told me. So I am hoping that doesn't change. But I am going to ask a bout a refund if you cannot complete the procedure, and about the sedation. I hope there will not be too many suprises with the price. I told my husband about 14000, so I hope it will not be more than that. I just went off the sheet they gave me for the prices. Because he might have second thoughts if that is the case. Thanks so much.

Not to butt in here, but a quick suggestion on the meds. I don't know how your doctor's office feels about this, but mine suggested I order mine off of an international website. Instead of paying $90 a vial for repronex in the states, I only paid $12 in Britain. Even with the shipping costs, we saved over $2000! I haven't finished my cycle yet, but I did do my er yesterday and they were able to get 12 eggs, 9 of which fertilized, so it seems to me that these drugs worked!

IT CERTAINLY WOULDN'T HURT TO LOOK INTO THIS IF WE DECIDE AFTER OUR CONSULTATION TO TRY AGAIN.......

I JUST GOT KIND OF SNUBBED WHEN I SUGGESTED GOING OUT OF THE "BOX" AND ASKED PRICES .......AND ALTERNATIVES TO THE THEIR NORMAL PROCEDURE ON WHERE THEY ORDER FROM. IT'S ALMOST LIKE THEY HAVE TO GET A % OR A KICKBACK FOR EVERY ORDER. BUT WHAT STILL BOTHERS ME IS THE ERROR'S MADE WHEN ORDERING AND THEN MAKING ME "EAT" THE $400 WORTH. IT'S LIKE THE DRUGS WEREN'T OPEN, AND I KNOW THIS CLINIC WAS DOING MORE THAN ME ON GONAL F SO WHY NOT TAKE THEM BACK, AND PASS THEM ON? LIKE ANYONE IN THIS SITUATION WOULD TAMPER WITH THE VILES OR NOT STORE THEM PROPERLY....I MEAN REALLY, WE ALL WANT THE SAME THING....BFP!

i will not say anything. i am glad for your views. thanks for sharing everything with me. I am just hoping every thing works out. I have a good feeling, but I am scared and nervous and worried.

I thought Dr. Severino was nice. But I didn't spend to much time with him since we knew what we were going to do. I spent the most time with the nurses and Barb. I did ask if the IVF cycle couldn't be completed if the money would be refunded and they said yes. Also the anethesia is already included in the total. So far things with them are great. We are going to do the ICSI, it was a better option. Have you decided what you are going to do next?

I see Dr. Severino as well. I have to say I like him a ton better than Dr. Koh, who helped us conceive DS.

We had our first egg retrieval yesterday and 7 of the 10 eggs fertilized. Our transfer will be Wed.
