Please help!!! Very scared....

Post by NEN »

Hello! Most of you don't know me because I have only been on this site once, a few weeks ago while I was waiting for the results of my second IVF. Last Monday, we found out we were pregnant after many years of trying. We were thrilled! My HCG count was excellent they said, and it doubled, just as it was supposed to, two days later. We had an US and were able to see a gestational sac and yolk sac. I am in my 6th week now and last night I started spotting. We called the MD and went in for a US this morning. He said it looks like there is a small amount of bleeding far away from the gestational sac, but didn't seem too concerned. He said if I get severe cramping and a lot of bleeding, he would be more concerned. Today, I have had very little and if I do, it seems to be brown. I have some slight cramping as well. I have read some of your comments and I realize bleeding is not uncommon in first trimester, but I am really nervous and looking for other accounts of people who have gone through the same thing. Any responses would help!!! Thank you.

It is so hard not to worry because of all we go through to get PG. I have experienced some spotting, but not true bleeding. But I have had several friends and SIL tell me about hemeroges that were caused by pockets of blood that had NO effect on the baby, but even if they didn't go through IVF it is very scarry. All I can suggest is TRY not to worry and stay on top of your doc to keep checking. :-)

Good Luck and God Bless You,
Cowgirl

Hi NEN
I too had some light bleeding early on at 5 weeks. I was terrified and ended up in casualty. All was OK though. No-one seemed to be able to explain why it had happened, they just did a scan, we saw a heartbeat and we were sent away again!

I think it is quite common...try not to worry...famous last words I know.

We are now 20 weeks and all (fingers crossed) is OK

Good luck, wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy

Thanks so much for your responses and encouragement. It is really good to hear that spotting/bleeding is fairly normal in early pregnancy. The doctor didn't seem too worried. I guess I just wanted some other people who have actually been through it to let me know that it will probably be okay. I realize there is always the chance that it won't be, but at this point, I don't have any reason to believe that to be true. I have to cross my fingers and hope to see a fetal pole and heart beat at my US next Friday. Thanks again for all of your support! I will keep you posted. This is a great website for anyone going through this stuff!!!

i too have had spotting on and off these whole 10 weeks.... well, actually (knock on wood) it's been a week since the last time i spotted... it's a good sign that it's not near the sack and hope that all will be ok.... take it easy tho, my doc says take it easy for 2 weeks after the last time you spot.

good luck on your US next friday, and TRY not to worry!!!

Hi,

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I just wanted to pop in to say i also had bleeding at 6 weeks, i thought it was over for us so started moving furniture around (as we had not long moved), was totally gobsmacked when it turned out all was well and i was indeed pregnant. after that incident i went on to have a number of other bleeding episodes, most quickly turned to old blood, but i can still remember the fear everytime i went for another scan. Your scan is fine, which is great. As you can see i went on recently to have a daughter, so there is always hope.

good luck

love

Hi Nen,

Like everyone else says, it's very common - but I know that that makes no different to worries and fears. As long as you get checked out and it's all fine, rest easy.

I had bleeding both pregnancies - this one the spotting continued up until 16 weeks. and initially it was implantation bleeding - a haematoma (spelling??). Apparently, it very common, but some women's bodies just absorb it back into their bloodstream without them ever knowing - for others - it's just the body getting rid of the old blood. It's worse on the head I think - even though I had this first time and things were fine, I still stressed out and feared the worst this time...

Hope things have eased up a bit anyway. Take care and try not to worry too much

I had bleeding too at 6 1/2 weeks. It was bright red and nearly scared me to death! I went in the very next morning for an ultrasound and got to see the little heartbeat for the first time and was reassured by my doctor that all was well. He wasn't concerned since I had no cramping with the bleeding. Everything has turned out great for me so far - I posted on here too looking for other's stories back when it happened because I was so worried. It is great that we all have each other! I am sure everything is fine!
