Fallopian tubes removed, any sucess stories w/ IVF?

Post by Fed7281 »

Hi Ladies,
I have been trying to find a sucess story with someone in the same boat as myself. I am 25 and DH is 41. We were ttc for over 2 years before going to an OB to discuss the issue. Basically I had a few surgeries and now I am without Fallopian tubes and are going to be starting my first IVF cycle in December. I was wondering if there are any other women out there with my situation and I was hoping some happy endings to their story. Thanks for your support!

Erin

Erin,

I just wanted to share a story my RE told me about when I felt very hopeless about my & dh's outcome of first IVF. I asked him if dh and I could still hope for natural conception. He said that he never says never, and told me the following story. He had a patient who had both tubes removed due to medical issues. She & dh unwent two rounds of IVF without success. She decided to take a break before trying third round. She came back to the clinic to report to the RE that she was pregnant naturally! He to this day is still in shock as to how it happened. So, he now has the philosophy that you never say never and life will always find a way. I'm not sure if this is exactly the story you wanted to hear, but I was so struck by this story, that I thought I would share. I wish you the best of luck, dear, and know that with IVF, tubes are irrelevant. I've got 'em, and they're not doing me any good regardless. Your chances of conception are just as high as someone with. You hang in there, and we're all here for you. That BFP will be yours in the very near future. Take care...

Angelica...Congratulations to you and dh on your BFP!! I love to hear all the success stories. Take care of that precious baby and enjoy each and every day of your pregnancy. Erin and I will be right behind you. Right Erin!?!? PMA PMA PMA! :)

Hi Erin,

I haven't been on the board for ages.

Thought I'd let you know that I am going in for a laporoscopy tomorrow to see how damaged my tubes are and if they are bad they are going to take them out. We have had 6 failed i.v.f and everything has been perfect except implantation. My Doc has told me that the tubes I have ( which we already know are damaged) may be leaking toxins into the womb and preventing implantaion, he has said that by taking the tubes out t can massively increase my chance of success, so we are hoping to have them taken out.

So in short.. no tubes can actually be an advantage !!!!!! Loads of luck x

I want to thank you all so much for sharing your expirences with me. It has made me feel a little more optimistic of my situation. I posted this as I notice most women have the male factor issues. Come to find out I have that now as well. My DH has a high count but there is only 100% normal. WE are going to be doing ICSI to better our chances. Thanks again for your help!

Nictor- CONGRATS on your BFP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know that you were having doubts, so I am so glad it worked for you!! Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnacy!

Still Trying- Thanks for posting to me. Good luck with your surgery! I had the same type of issue, where they thought I would be leaking toxins into my uterous so that is why they removed them. Good luck and I hope you get the baby that you have worked so hard to get!'

Angellica, Thanks, I never realized that we went through the same surgery. You are an inspiration to me!

Charity, Thanks for the info. It is nice to know that we can still try the old fashion way and it may pay off. Brings the fun back into the "baby making"

Well, wishing you all the best!

Erin

Quick update.

They did a lap and found both my tubes were in a terrible state. They tried to get them out via a lap but found both tubes had stuck to my bowels. They had to cut me open and remve both tubes surgically. I am feeling pretty tired but ok. I am relieved to have an answer to my problems. The doc said if I had ever got preg it would have been eptopic and if I had not had my tubes removed they would have prob. damaged my bowels so much I would have had to have my bowels removed !!!!! Doesn't bare thinking about.
So, after booking 1 day off work I have been given 4 weeks !!!!!!!! Looks like internet shopping for me !!!!!!

Good luck everyone else xxx

I am happy that they were able to locate the problem and correct it. That is wonderful. I am sorry though that it was not done the "easy way" You will be up and running again in no time. I know when I found out that my tube was so damaged and they removed it, I was so happy. Finally I felt normal and my chances of a successful IVF grew so much. Did the doctor say how long until you could start a cycle? I know that was one of your questions on the other thread.

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Erin,
Thanks for the message. I feel really thrilled they have taken my tubes out, like you said it offers new hope. Health wise I feel a bit rubbish today, bit sicky and dizzy, everything going ok though, being spoit with flowers and gifts. My Dh keeps pretending to trip over and break his ankle for some sympathy - haha.

I don't know how long we have to wait. I have left a message with my consulant today but am waiting to hear back from him. I need to let my body recover first I suppose. Can't wait to get going again though.

Lots of luck with your cycle, hope we can start a new thread for success stories with us tubeless girls

 Hi girls thought i would answer your question

I had my tubes removed in Aug 2006 and was able to cycle again in the October. My Doc feels that the problem had then been removed and as long as i had two clear af's then i could cycle again as soon as possible.
I don't like to put a downer on things but although its great the problem has now been eliminated there is still no guarantee that ivf will work just because the tubes are removed so don't get your hopes up too much but stay strong and positive

Good luck girls, hope we will eventually all be on the success story thread after removal of tubes.

Waiting4baby

Welcome! and good luck, I personally agree that you do have a better chance with IVF as you have no tubes as there are less potential problems waiting to occur.....please stay positive and if you are meant to be a Mum which I am sure you are then you will.

Jen

I may have taken your comment wrong but you seem real negative..I understand that this is likely as your 1st IVF experience ended in a BFN my 1st one did also so I know how you feel, you stay strong and BELIEVE in yourself tubes or no tubes you will get there!!! If that is what is meant to be!!

Hi Girls thought I'd give you an update.

After a great few weeks after my op I ended up getting an infection in my wound, which eventually burst and I was pretty poorly. I am now well on the mend and can even fit back into my post op jeans ! Little things make a big difference don't they - lol.

It was great to see that some doctors will let you cycle so quickly. I have been told I can egg share again as the other lady I shared my eggs with got pregnant - thats 2 out of 3 egg shares I have been abale to give a positive result. Shows my eggs are ok, fingers crossed its our turn next. Don't know exactly when we will go again, sooner the better.

Lots of love and luck for everyone. pma. I agree that not having tubes doesn't guarantee a pregnancy and am realistic about that but like me girls, I think any hope we have things have got better we have to believe, when you stop clutching at straws you can fall !! I'm clutching mine tightly

Hi Erin,

I only have one tube left and during my cycles they found a hydrosalpinx in my remaining tube. They thought the tube was blocked from the results of a previous HSG. Come to find out the tube is now open and they think that fluid is leaking out and hurting my chances of IVF working.
I have a 2nd opinion appt tomorrow actually with a new Dr. to see what he thinks....my other clinic wants to remove the tube. I have a hard time with that knowing now that it is open. I believe there is a reason for everything and I just think it is weird that my body just keeps changing!
Anyway, just wanted to let you I am kinda in the same boat - maybe soon before I have no tubes.
My biggest fear is that it still won't work...what then?! So much money wasted and the roller coaster is hard but hopefully it will be worth it someday when we get to hold our baby in our arms! That's what keeps driving me!
I just hope tomorrow I feel better about my options and I make the right decision!
Take care and good luck with your future cycle!
