We are just starting our research for IVF and need help

Post by olymont »

Hi All!

Thank you in advance for all your help! We are looking for a reputable clinic in IVF. I am 37 years old and want to save as much money as possible however would like to be able to afford more than one round of IVF. I read an article about Clinics in Ireland and weird enough I have a sister in law that lives 3 hrs from there nevertheless my husband would like to keep in U.S. I also happened to find information in Barbados which he liked but figured that it was too expensive. My Dr. says he can refer me to a clinic where he works, but he claims it wil come out to almost $15,000 for only 1 attempt?? He is my Dr. under my kaiser insurance not for IVF Clinic (just happens to work there also) He's great but seems too expensive?

Thank you again for any assistance!

Olymont, it might make it easier to keep the IVF local but the decision is up to you, here is a link that may help you in your search.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=& ... rnia%2BIVF

I am located in Northern California (Sacramento) and have found quite a few in the area that are great with good results, Davis IVF http://www.californiaivf.com/

The cost is around $15,000 for IVF in general. We spent $8,500 for the cycle treatment, $1500 for ICSI and, about $2000 for the meds. This is the estimate fore the one cycle plan, the 2 cycle plan is $14,000. It is all a matter of preference on which you want to do. But a good doctor will tell you which you may want to consider based on your circumstances. The cost of the procedure is up there, but if you shop around for a pharmacy you can save a lot of money on the meds. (Sometimes overseas pharmacies are cheaper). Good luck!

Hi -

I wanted to say that I loved my clinic. I was extremely fortunate to find such a wonderful, reputable clinic just 15 minutes from my house. Their level of care was FANTASTIC. They are extremely organized, detailed, and very professional. I've heard many nightmares of clinics that don't communicate well, don't return phone calls, and aren't "experts" in their field. My clinic was far from this.

Their info can be found at www.mcrh.com

Our cycle, including meds, was about 12,500. They do have an "insurance" plan option. You pay more, but get 3 tries and if you aren't successful, you get most of your money back.

Good luck!

I see that you are in So. Calif. so you might want to look at Reproductive Partners (www.2reproduce.com) as they have some good financial plans. One is the global plan in which if you pay for 2 IVF cycles, then the 3rd is free (and it doesn't require a prepayment for both cycles). I just did a round with them and my cycle was $13,500 including my meds. It varies depending on ICSI and the cost of drugs, etc. They have all the financial plans on their website. Also, if you use Freedom Pharmacy for your first 2 rounds and you don't get PG, then the 3rd cycle is free as well!

I just found out that I am pg - and this is my 4th IVF cycle (1st with this group), so I highly recommend them.

1st IVF/ICSI 2/06 - BFN
2nd IVF/ ICSI 4/06- twins, m/c 8wks
3rd IVF/ICSI 9/06 - BFN
4th IVF (no ISCI) 1/07- BFP, m/c 7.5 wks
